Chapter 662: Chapter 16: The One Who is Sung

However, in an era without Spiritual Qi, such an endeavor required a multitude of considerations: astronaut safety, landing specifics, rocket thrust-to-weight ratios, careful fuel selection, payload trade-offs, repeated surveys for safe landing zones, corresponding extravehicular activity training, and so on. Humans are a fragile species, after all. It wasn’t a one-and-done mission; they had to bring the crew back safely.

In an Extraordinary World, however, things were much simpler. A rocket? The propulsive force of a single Commander Tier Transcendent might not match a rocket, but they only needed to transport themselves. With the aid of some Arrays and Magical Treasures, their top speed could even surpass a rocket. Moreover, as long as they had fine control over their Spiritual Power, they were far more agile. Breaking away from Earth’s gravity to reach the Moon was genuinely not that hard.

Material tolerance? Zhou Buyi could take a jaunt to the planet’s mantle. As long as he continued his Cultivation, fine-tuning his exterior to match the durability of a rocket’s armor would be a simple matter of adjustment.

A landing site? You have to be joking. If Zhou Buyi crashed into the Moon, the Moon would be the one getting hurt, not him.

As for Life Force… when it came to environmental adaptability and vitality, even Su Zhou wouldn’t dare claim to be tougher than a member of the Divine Wood Series. The Moon has light and soil, and space has Spiritual Qi—that was more than enough for a Commander Tier Powerhouse to survive.

This was also why Zhengguo had chosen Su Zhou to lead the mission to explore the far side of the Moon. It was simple: even if the return rocket exploded and everyone else died, Su Zhou could survive until Zhengguo sent a second ship to bring him home. That stability alone made him the undisputed choice for captain.

The only real problem was calculating the lunar orbit and selecting the launch time and location. These required lengthy computations and numerous trial-and-error attempts to find the perfect solution. After all, the Divine Wood World was different from Earth. Even if Su Zhou and Shao Qiming were willing to give their data to Zhou Buyi, he wouldn’t be able to use it.

But Zhou Buyi himself expressed no concern over this. “I have over a hundred separate bodies,” he said. “I can just send them up one by one to test it out. Even if I use them all, I can just make more. In fact, all of them are my true self; it’s just that this ‘main body’ I’m using now is the most powerful.”

Over a hundred opportunities for trial and error, maybe even more. A single success would mean total victory. Shao Qiming had never heard of such a simple, convenient, and effortless way to get to the Moon.

Although many of these things were still just concepts, the basic framework was now in place. From guiding the future of the Divine Wood World’s civilization to resolving the incompatibility between Zhou Buyi and the Immortal Banyan Tree, a general path forward had been found for both.

Su Zhou couldn’t do much more. Ultimately, this was a matter for Zhou Buyi and the Divine Wood World to handle themselves. As a friend from an Otherworld, he had already done more than enough.

In response, Zhou Buyi sincerely thanked Shao Qiming and Su Zhou several times.

“It may only be an idea, but for me, the idea is the most important part.”

As he spoke, he raised his head to the sky and let out a world-weary laugh. “Guiding a civilization to the Starry Sky, to the Moon… The very thought of it is just so romantic.”

A man nearly two hundred years old had his fighting spirit rekindled by a seemingly absurd suggestion and plan.

Shao Qiming, however, just shook his head. “Su Zhou’s ideas are always too romantic. He forgets the hardships and obstacles along the way. Zhou Buyi, going to the Moon is an incredibly lonely endeavor. Even if you succeed, the development work up there will be extremely tedious and dull. And technology might not advance as quickly as you think. It could be decades, even centuries, before your people can even manage to reach the Moon.”

“Lonely?”

Muttering the word to himself, Zhou Buyi turned to look at Su Zhou. The two ‘Undead’ locked eyes.

Su Zhou could see it. A fire had ignited in the other man’s eyes, a Flame strikingly similar to the one he’d seen burning in the eyes of the young man determined to eradicate the Demon Dynasty, back when they had first met over a century ago.

‘Difficulty’ was never a reason to stop. It was merely a description, a state that was destined to be overcome.

“Undying… Undying…” he murmured. “Do you think I’m not lonely, even here in this bustling crowd?”

After locking eyes with Su Zhou, Zhou Buyi let out a great laugh. He turned and walked toward the edge of the Divine Wood’s crown. The lonely man repeated, “In fact, this is precisely the kind of thing that only I, who wields the Divine Wood Power—that only an Undead—can accomplish!”

And with that, the conversation with Zhou Buyi concluded.

His exchange with the Immortal Banyan Tree didn’t last long either—the Divine Wood’s consciousness and a human’s were simply not on the same wavelength.

Through the brief exchange, Su Zhou learned two things. First, the Immortal Banyan Tree had indeed fully rooted itself into this planet. Second, for the past century or so, no one had drawn upon the Divine Wood Power that originated from It.

Zhou Buyi was different. He had used a loophole, a clever method to obtain a portion of power the Immortal Banyan Tree had split off long ago—the power that originated with the Demon Emperor and the Demon Dynasty. In doing so, he had neatly sidestepped the Immortal Banyan Tree’s detection.

After confirming this information, Su Zhou ended the communion. For a Divine Wood that perceived one hundred and fifty years as a mere instant, everything in the Mortal World was but a fleeting play. It never cared, nor did It bother to watch, for all things existed by Its grace, not the other way around.
