Monsters Die When Killed

Chapter 558 - 31: The Spirit Beast City You Don’t Know

  • Next Chapter

As for the Slave Species and Devotion Species... they were the foundation of the Beast God Realm, an unavoidable part of its existence.

Therefore, the Daoist Saint believed that even someone with a personality as complex and sensitive as Su Zhou wouldn’t make a move against the Qilin.

And as it turned out, that was indeed the case.

When Su Zhou stood at the forefront to welcome the shimmering Water Qilin, which seemed to be formed entirely of condensed Water Spiritual Power, even with his Divine Techniques as the Evil-Devouring Demon Lord, all he could detect was a level of Curse equivalent to someone spitting gum on the sidewalk.

In the Beast God Realm, it would be no exaggeration to call a creature with so little Curse a Saint!

And so, the Cultivators from the various nations, who had been terrified that Su Zhou would suddenly erupt and twist the creature’s head off, were surprised to see him with a genuine smile, his expression amicable and friendly.

’I didn’t expect to find any decent beasts in the Beast God Realm,’ Su Zhou thought, genuinely pleased. ’Even if it’s only decent in a relative sense, that’s still pretty good.’

’What’s with that expression?’

But this uncharacteristic behavior from Su Zhou only made everyone’s hearts pound with even greater fear.

As for the visitors from the Beast God Realm, they were completely unaware of the silent turmoil on Earth’s side.

For the King of the Mao Race, the Water Qilin Ann Duo, this visit was a decision born of sheer necessity.

True to the Qilin’s nature, as long as an enemy wasn’t at their doorstep, they always maintained absolute neutrality, content to live out their leisurely lives—let alone take the initiative to visit another power.

After all, Qilins didn’t eat other creatures or participate in the ecological cycle. So long as Spiritual Qi was present, they weren’t dependent on any particular environment. Near water, they became Water Qilins; near a Volcano, Fire Qilins; on a cloudy mountain, Thunder Qilins. Not only were they not picky, but they were also extremely adaptable.

However, given that the kings of the other four races had already been pummeled into meat paste, one by one, by a certain someone, this King of the Mao Race figured the result would be the same whether it cowered like a turtle in its shell or served itself up on a silver platter. The outcome of facing that bizarre Giant Dragon would be identical.

’In that case, I might as well take the initiative to visit, express my goodwill, and see what this group of Immortal Divine Remnants actually wants.’

Carrying such thoughts, Ann Duo arrived at the Two Realms Teleportation Gate Fortress with a sense of tragic heroism. ’The worst that can happen is death. It’s just a shame I haven’t caught that traitorous disciple of mine yet. Otherwise, I’d have dragged it here to die with me!’

Then, the grimly determined Ann Duo received an unexpectedly warm reception.

In the spacious conference hall, after being treated to fine tea, fresh water, and quality Spirit Plants, and exchanging pleasantries with several human Cultivator Leaders for a good while, the King of the Mao Race clearly hadn’t yet processed why the human side was giving it such preferential treatment.

But even as a zen-like Divine Beast with political skills hovering around zero, Ann Duo understood that for the dominant Earth faction to treat it as an equal, it must mean they would soon require it to put forth a great deal of effort for something.

"You Immortal Divine Remnants... although I don’t know if you still acknowledge that identity."

So, the Water Qilin abandoned all roundabout thinking. Using a Transformation Technique, it became a blue-haired woman with two horns atop her head, dressed in a classical immortal robe. Ann Duo spoke bluntly, "In short, you, like your ancestors, have once again claimed victory in our world... For the sake of my Race, I will not defy your orders, provided they are not too outrageous."

"So, please stop beating around the bush. As the more powerful side, if there is something you need me to do, just give the order."

’Huh, a female Qilin? Well, that’s not so strange. It’s not uncommon in the animal kingdom for the female of the species to be stronger. Besides, for a Divine Beast, swapping genders is probably as simple as having a thought.’

Since no one had ever asked Ann Duo’s gender, even Su Zhou, as a member of the negotiating party, was quite surprised—but that was the extent of it.

The Daoist Saint, who was leading the talks, naturally understood Ann Duo’s meaning. It was best to be direct when communicating with these Divine Beasts.

Thus, he wasted no more words and summoned a holographic projection, displaying Earth’s plan to the sole surviving Beast King of the Beast God Realm’s Five Races.

It was the projection of a grand and massive city.

With the former capital of the Feather Race as its core, the Earth faction would "cooperate" with the Divine and Spirit Beasts of the other races—of course, one could just as easily substitute that word with "command."

In short, humanity would build a massive city there, encompassing nearly every Race in the Beast God Realm, and it would serve as the central hub for exchange between humans and the Beast God Realm.

Of course, this city could also be seen as a massive genetic database of bloodlines from the Divine Beasts and Spirit Beasts of the Beast God Realm.

The Divine and Spirit Beasts residing in the city would be required to cooperate with a series of related studies conducted by the humans. The humans would provide payment and guarantee that the lives of the Beast God Realm’s creatures would not be endangered. In cases of research that was physically harmful, the human side would offer appropriate compensation.

Likewise, barring a valid reason, the Spirit Beasts living there would be required to cooperate with the experiments.

Naturally, no class system would exist in this city—human laws would be enforced, and its inhabitants would be educated in human language and culture... In other words, every life-form from the Beast God Realm that entered the city would be "civilized" by Earth.

There, carnivorous Spirit Beasts could not freely hunt other Spirit Beasts for food. If they wanted to eat, they had to learn animal husbandry and raise their own livestock. Herbivorous Spirit Beasts, in turn, would have to learn to cultivate the necessary Spirit Plants. Down to the smallest detail, they would learn the human way of life.
