Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 397 - 8: Su Zhou’s Way of Acting
At this very moment, Su Zhou could see another Elite Tier Transcendent on the street. He was a Knight clad in armor that resembled a carapace, wielding a Three-Headed Flail. Bone-chilling Curse Runes were inscribed on each of the flail’s spiked heads.
The evil thoughts emanating from this Knight had condensed into pure black, just like those Demon Generals from the Divine Wood World who had murdered and devoured countless people. It was hard to imagine what he must have done to be plagued by such intense evil. When he noticed Su Zhou rapidly approaching from mid-air, the Knight’s eyes, hidden behind his helmet, narrowed. He felt an unprecedented pressure suddenly descend upon him, so oppressive it was becoming difficult to breathe.
However, his years of combat experience meant the Knight would not cower because of such Suppression. On the contrary, it was precisely because the Suppression was so strong that, under its pressure, he could Burst forth with his hidden power! Facing the diving Su Zhou, the Knight stood his ground grimly and unleashed his full strength. He raised his flail, aimed for Su Zhou’s head, and swung decisively!
This Knight also possessed a Divine Object—the very gauntlet on the hand gripping the flail. As Magic Power was poured into the gauntlet, which was crafted from tanned Giant’s Hide, it instantly activated the Giant’s Power, strong enough to lift a hundred-ton boulder.
At the same time, the Knight’s strangely structured arms, which mimicked those of a mantis shrimp, began to build up power, then suddenly Burst forth!
BOOM!
The two immense forces worked in concert. Under the Knight’s control, the swung flail pierced the air and broke the sound barrier. The intense friction even generated electric sparks, and the flail’s three heads, like three falling stars, rapidly gathered immense power as they tore through the atmosphere, shimmering with a dim glow of Magic Power!
Pockets of scorching, high-temperature, high-pressure gas exploded outward through the air. Each of the three heads created a vacuum, only to tear it to shreds. This was a Divine Power that not even a Tidal Giant could block. A single strike from that flail could shatter a city wall!
’With this strike, I’ve reached my peak!’
As he unleashed this attack, the Knight named Set felt an indescribable sense of enlightenment. He felt as if he had connected all the Extraordinary Organs in his body, allowing him to display his power to Perfection—he was just one step away from the peak of the Elite Tier. At this rate, even under His Majesty’s command, he would surely be...
But his thoughts stopped in that instant.
Because Su Zhou had also Burst forth with his full power. He gripped the Blade of Annihilation, and the flaming longsword, spanning dozens of meters, flared up and set half of Naisel City’s sky ablaze. With greater speed, greater power, and a better weapon, he used the most simple and brutal method: a direct, head-on slash with the Blade of Annihilation that shattered the high-temperature gas pockets created by the Knight’s flail, shattered his condensed flow of Magic Power, shattered his flail, his arm, his armor, and his chest.
PFFT— Pale blue blood spurted out, but Set, surprisingly, did not die from the blow. His armor, it turned out, was also an ancient relic. Su Zhou’s slash had shattered his attack and weapon and then cut through his armor, but the remaining force was not enough to tear apart the body of an Extraordinary High-tier Professional.
’I can’t beat him!’ Without hesitation, using the force from Su Zhou’s blow to propel him, Set endured the excruciating pain. The instant his body was sent flying backward, he turned to flee.
But Su Zhou was faster. He landed on the ground, and with a mighty stomp of his feet, an earthquake-like tremor began to shake more than half the street, the cobblestones rising and falling like waves. In the next instant, Su Zhou had already pushed off and caught up to Set.
At this very moment, Su Zhou’s heart was filled with incomparable exhilaration!
’Facing Evil People in the Otherworld feels completely different from being on Earth. On Earth, there are ways to make sure criminals are punished, but it’s just so troublesome.’
’But now, all I have to do is draw my blade. All I have to do is swing it!’
Even though he had become the champion Transcendent promoted by Zhengguo, a professor at Qinxing Academy, and the captain of the Security Bureau’s special operations unit, Su Zhou still felt somewhat restricted.
’"Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law."’
Overtaking him in an instant, Su Zhou caught up to the desperately fleeing Set. He laughed as he met the man’s despairing gaze and swung his blade, cutting him down. "How can that kind of rhetoric," he roared, "ever compare to the simple truth of, ’I will now hack you to pieces’?!"
THUD! Set’s body fell heavily to the ground, split in two at the chest, his pale blue blood soaking the street.
"We have a God behind us!"
His spine was severed, and his lungs were filling with blood. Set was not yet dead, but he could no longer speak. His Soul, seared by the Blade of Annihilation’s Power of Burning Spirit, let out an agonized wail.
The Knight cursed Su Zhou. "You ignorant Wilderness Wanderer, you know nothing of our noble goal... You are destined to sink into the cold Sea Abyss, to keep company with silt and sewage!"
"A God behind you? I’ve got a snake over my head."
Su Zhou had always been dismissive of such threats. He would normally have just ignored the Knight completely, but since the man was about to die, there seemed little point. Su Zhou did possess that much Compassion. "What noble goal can’t be spoken of or explained properly? Does it require interrogation, murder, and hanging people from gallows?"
He thrust his blade into Set’s head and sneered, "Any goal that can’t be spoken of aloud has nothing to do with nobility."
Unfortunately, Set could no longer hear Su Zhou’s words.
A pale blue Evil Soul emerged. He was dead.
At that moment, far outside the city, the aura of the last Elite Tier individual had vanished. The Ranger had seen that things were going badly and had already fled. But Su Zhou was a bit of a neat freak; he liked things ’clean.’
By ’clean,’ he meant killing all enemies and carrying out the Purification of all Evil People, leaving not a single one behind—in other words, a clean sweep.
Therefore, without any hesitation, he shot into the air. Before the surrounding citizens and a hastily arriving Elias could react, he used his Gale Armor to shape the wind resistance around him into something like a cannonball and sped off in the direction the Ranger had vanished.
An hour later, an uninjured Su Zhou flew back to Naisel City, carrying the rather gruesome corpse of a Fishman—the True Body of that Ranger. By this time, Elias had already begun gathering the citizens in the square, delivering a speech as the Duke’s heir about his intention to restore Order to the entire Shelter City.
"Look! This is the Hero who has eradicated our enemies and returned Order to Naisel City!"
Although Elias was still young, his education from the Duke family had already molded him into a competent and inspiring leader. After Su Zhou landed in the square, he stretched out a hand with fervent passion, pointing at Su Zhou and focusing all attention on the young man.
The corpse Su Zhou brought back stirred the crowd into a roaring frenzy. For the half-year that the unknown organization had occupied Naisel City, everyone had lived in constant fear. People were frequently dragged away on trumped-up charges to be extorted or even killed, and among the victims were always relatives and friends.
The bodies of the dead were located outside the Duke’s Mansion, strung up on the gallows. Every time they saw those bodies, the people’s hatred would surge. Before, they could not vent their feelings and could only remain silent, but now they could give voice to them, which came out as cheers, curses, and flowing tears.
In response to the chorus of thanks and praise, Su Zhou appeared outwardly expressionless, but the slight upturn of his lips betrayed his true feelings.
Su Zhou had arrived in the Otherworld at 9:37 AM, local time.
The current time was 7:45 PM, local time.
In his tenth hour after entering the Otherworld, the unknown organization of Evil People that had occupied a Shelter City was annihilated.
Throughout the entire process, Su Zhou did not know his opponents’ names, their purpose, or what their organization was called—but that was enough. He knew he had come here to wipe them out completely.
And this was Su Zhou’s usual way of doing things.
