Monsters Die When Killed
Chapter 394 - 8: Su Zhou’s Method of Action
Su Zhou’s Breath was a scorching gale formed with the Gale Seed at its core, mixed with his own Fire Spiritual Power. If he were to use his Divine Thunder True Skill instead, it would be a Thunderbolt Breath.
’Theoretically, this Breath doesn’t need to come from my mouth. But since it’s called a "Breath," I might as well spew it out for now. Besides, I’ve always been one to spout off. And when my enemies think they can stop my Breath by sealing my mouth, I’ll show them the true meaning of a Floating Cannon.’
The subsonic gale, carrying heat of several hundred degrees, shattered the Ice Cone and instantly melted it, vaporizing it into a cloud of black mist. The mist was immediately blown away, revealing its true nature—a Resentful Soul letting out a constant, shrill wail.
The scorching gale, its momentum unabated, slammed into the shield of the Duke’s Mansion, causing it to ripple.
"...Dead Tutor?"
Seeing this Resentful Soul, Su Zhou didn’t even press his advantage. He stared at the dissipating Resentful Soul as the image and aura of a Shepherd of Spirits flashed through his mind, and his eyes narrowed.
Although this Ice Cone Spell appeared to be a Water Technique on the surface, its essence was clearly a type of Resentful Spirit Curse that felt familiar to him. ’Unlike with the Wood Centipede, I really didn’t expect to run into the main culprit so soon.’
The enemy also hadn’t expected Su Zhou to stop. After their cursed Ice Cone—which had been intended as a sneak attack—failed, they began their formal counterattack. Twelve deep blue Magic Runes leaped up from within the mansion. They interlinked with the layers of the Great Array, forming a series of sharp Frost Spike Balls.
These spike balls were like meteor hammers studded with sharp teeth, each over two meters in diameter. An intensely cold, frosty aura gestated within them, filling the air with a thick white fog. In an instant, these Frost Spike Balls, harder than steel, began to hurtle down toward Su Zhou one after another at two hundred meters per second!
Even an army of several hundred men or a towering castle would be utterly destroyed in the face of this ’Frost Meteor’!
However, the moment these ice balls had flown just six or seven meters, everyone in the vicinity of the Duke’s Mansion—from Elias, who was pulling out Magic Scrolls and seemingly pondering how to aid Su Zhou, to Delron Mage and his cohorts inside the Duke’s Mansion preparing their next Magic—all felt a sudden, intense surge of killing intent.
Immediately after, Su Zhou’s figure erupted. His entire body shot up from the ground like a cannonball, breaking the sound barrier amidst a violent tremor.
And in that blur of extreme speed, a flash of a blade streaked past.
BOOM! Upon contact with the supersonic shockwave, the Magic Shield around the Duke’s Mansion began to tremble violently. The windows of the surrounding residences and even the paving stones on the ground shattered one after another like dominoes. But even before the shockwave created such a commotion, the scorching blade-light had already sliced through the air. In its path, the hurtling Frost Spike Balls melted away as quickly as ice cream next to a furnace. The seemingly sturdy shield of the Duke’s Mansion was even more fragile; it popped like a bubble on contact, torn open with a massive gash.
"AAAAAH!" Instantly, inside the Duke’s Mansion, the Mages maintaining the shield cried out in agony. They clutched their heads, their legs gave out, and they collapsed to the ground. The intense agony was like having a scalpel coated in chili water shoved under their fingernails, setting every nerve in their bodies on fire.
"That blade... that blade has the power to destroy Souls!" someone shouted, realizing the effect of Su Zhou’s weapon as he endured the excruciating pain. "Don’t use Soul Magic against him!"
’But the Blade of Annihilation has many uses. It doesn’t just destroy Souls—it’s also great for demolition.’
Having gone all out, Su Zhou now hovered in mid-air, attacking the Duke’s Mansion from above. He swung the five-foot-long blade in his hand, freely unleashing his and the Divine Blade’s Spiritual Power. With the body of the blade as its core, a translucent, flaming blade of light over ten meters long seemed to solidify. With a single slash, he could shatter several walls as if destroying a castle made of building blocks, setting them alight with golden-red flames.
Su Zhou’s Evil-Devouring Demon Fire was heatless; through excessive Enhancement, it caused objects to self-destruct into something resembling burning cinders. The flame of the Blade of Annihilation, however, was a fire of molten lava with a starting temperature of 1,500 degrees Celsius. Even metal would warp, deform, and melt into a liquid at that temperature.
In just three seconds, Su Zhou, swinging his blade at supersonic speeds, had already struck back and forth eleven times, carving a crisscrossing, well-like pattern of gashes into the Duke’s Mansion. He wasn’t attacking randomly. Each time Su Zhou’s blade fell, it was on a location where he could sense the pitch-black aura of a Curse. There was definitely a Transcendent from the Mysterious Organization stationed there.
Around the edges of these gashes, magical traps and Magic were exploding. The battle position, which had been prepared with the utmost care, was now being dismantled by the simplest and most brutal of methods. Even Elias, hiding in a corner and unable to bear watching, had to admit that this was indeed the best way to break through.
"You... just who the hell are you?!"
At this point, the enemies turtled up inside the Duke’s Mansion finally realized a crucial fact: the one they were fighting was not associated with the Naisel family or Naisel City. The former would certainly never destroy their ancestral home, which they had lived in and maintained for over a thousand years, while the latter would instinctively never destroy this city landmark, a symbol of Majesty.
