Chapter 1825: Chapter 469: Blood Sacrifice Prologue (Second Update)_2
"I can assure you, we can make the Bone Shattering Clan stronger than at any point in its history."
"By contrast, if you destroy us, all you gain is a one?off harvest of resources. But if you keep us, the Downspirit Clan will become the most powerful growth engine under the Bone Splitting Clan’s banner. With this offer, are you satisfied?"
Tu Hu finished speaking and waited quietly for Da Ge’s answer.
But the Bone Shattering Clan’s General "Da Ge" fell into silence.
His eyes lingered on Tu Hu for a long time; icy Killing Intent and the calculus of profit clashed fiercely in voiceless confrontation.
At last, that cold voice sounded again:
"What I’m more curious about is, why are you using our clan’s language?"
"I possess powerful learning ability, including language. As long as I have a brief understanding, I can quickly master it."
After hearing this explanation, Da Ge believed a bit more of what Tu Hu had just said. After a short moment of thought, he spoke again with a tone that allowed no doubt:
"I’ll give you time to prove your value."
"As you wish."
Tu Hu was about to turn and leave.
"Wait." Da Ge’s cold voice rang out once more.
Tu Hu halted, turned back, and waited quietly for what came next.
Da Ge’s golden vertical pupils scrutinized him:
"Within your own tribe, what is your status?"
"Just an old guy who’s lived a bit longer." Tu Hu answered vaguely, without exposing his special status as "forefather."
Da Ge neither affirmed nor denied that answer. His massive body shifted slightly into a new posture, and he laid out more terms:
"Becoming a vassal is acceptable. Retaining what you call your ’research ability’ is acceptable. But you must submit to Bone Splitting Clan management. We will dispatch a Supervisor to take up residence, ensuring that your ’tool attribute’ forever turns only for the Bone Splitting Clan’s interests. All your output, and even part of your population, must obey the will of the Bone Splitting Clan. That is the bottom line."
This condition was impossibly harsh, meaning sovereignty would be completely lost, everything sliding toward the worst possible outcome.
Yet Tu Hu’s face didn’t show a ripple as he answered calmly:
"Agreed. As long as the Bone Splitting Clan can ensure the continuation and basic survival of my people, and provide necessary resource support, the Downspirit Clan is willing to accept management, using our ability to serve the Bone Splitting Clan’s grand enterprise of conquest."
His straightforwardness instead made Da Ge fall silent for a moment.
Clearly, he hadn’t expected Tu Hu to so cleanly surrender all autonomy.
"Very well," Da Ge finally said, his voice betraying no joy or anger:
"Remember your promise. Now go prove the value you spoke of."
Tu Hu turned once more and, under the watch of the Lizardman guards, left the Skeleton Hall.
The first step was done.
He had traded dignity and freedom for the chance to build up Strength in the cracks.
The heavy shackles were already locked on; the hope of breaking the situation was pushed into the future.
...
Tu Hu had thought that, after paying the price of sovereignty and dignity, he would be able to win a relatively safe buffer period for the Downspirit Clan.
In his expectations, during this period the Bone Splitting Clan would提出各种需求, and the Downspirit Clan would be responsible for research and implementation.
For example, improving communication methods, or optimizing transport efficiency.
They would pose the problems, and the Downspirit Clan would solve them.
In this process, the Downspirit Clan could both prove its own value and take the opportunity to build up Savings of Strength, even obtaining from the Bone Splitting Clan precious resources that the Downspirit Clan currently did not possess.
But the Bone Splitting Clan’s thinking was completely different from what he had imagined.
After Supervisor Shui Ya led the Bone Splitting Clan legion into New Star Valley, his very first order was that the Downspirit Clan must turn over all War Weapons.
The second order was the conscription of 5,000 young and able adults to serve in the Bone Splitting Clan’s mining fields.
The third order was to build, in the Central Square of New Star Valley, a Bone Splitting Clan–style execution platform, used to execute those hard?headed ones who refused to be managed.
Shui Ya’s first words upon arrival were:
"Learn obedience first. Then we talk about value."
The Bone Splitting Clan had ruled over many slave races and understood that, if you want long?term control over a group, you must use the bloodiest methods to break that group’s spine.
In their eyes, fear was far more important than mercy.
This was done so that, in the hearts of all slaves, an indelible brand would be carved: resistance means Destruction; submission is the only way to crawl by alive.
This was a method of domestication.
Using the cruelest means to burn the word "slave" into the heart of every living thing.
When the preliminary stage of rule was complete, the current leader of the Downspirit Clan, "Lie Zhua," became the first sacrifice under Bone Splitting Clan rule.
During this period, Supervisor "Shui Ya," having gained a preliminary understanding of the Downspirit Clan’s development model, took away the leader, Lie Zhua.
He then publicly announced the execution, without explaining any reason, other than that Lie Zhua was the leader of the Downspirit Clan.
When this news reached them, the pent?up fury exploded through the entire Downspirit Clan in an instant.
The warriors’ eyes went bloodshot, the craftsmen threw down their tools, the scholars clenched their fists; the roar of riot was almost enough to overturn the city.
But that blaze of anger was soon forcibly shoved back down.
The Downspirit Clan’s management, accompanied by the guards, blocked all the impulsive clansmen, using the harshest measures to uphold the Bone Shattering Clan’s rule and order.
The day of execution came quickly.
The Darkness before Dawn was unusually deep.
Dawn’s weak light struggled to pierce the clouds, unable to dispel the frozen Darkness hanging over the square.
The wind swept past the Energy Tower of New Star Valley, emitting a low wail, as if even this steel city were mourning the tragedy about to unfold.
The square lay silent as a tomb.
When Lie Zhua was dragged up onto the execution platform in the center, he was nearly unrecognizable.
Blue Lin shattered and broken were caked with crusted Dark Red blood; only his eyes remained clear.
At this moment, Lie Zhua’s vision was already blurred.
On the execution platform, he was forced to his knees by the Bone Splitting Clan’s Lizardman guards; his head was shoved brutally into the groove of the block, shattered Lin scraping against the rough stone, sending waves of Sharp stabbing pain.
