Chapter 1756: Chapter 449: The Art of Assassination, When Narrow Paths Meet (Third Update)

The second round of the confrontation tournament, the splendid performances of the major Warbands were still ongoing.

At this moment, the heat of Arena No.2837 was skyrocketing.

Blood Sacrifice Plain battlefield.

The teleportation light dissipated, and the vast, boundless plain unfolded before the spectators’ eyes.

The gray-white, cracked earth stretched to the horizon, dotted with craters formed by meteor impacts, and in the distance several colossal star remains, like mountain ranges, were obliquely embedded in the ground.

In one corner of the battlefield, a figure appeared first.

He had short blue hair, chains wrapped around his forearms, extending all the way down, connecting to the ends of the two Daggers in his hands.

The Daggers were pitch-black all over, with only a line of scarlet flowing along the blade edge, as if they had drunk countless blood.

He lifted his head slightly, revealing a pair of black eyes.

Behind him, the air rippled like water.

One figure after another silently emerged; they were uniformly clad in tight, dark gray leather armor, masks covering most of their faces, leaving only pairs of indifferent eyes exposed.

They stood quietly behind the blue-haired youth, like statues blended into the background, faint chills seeping from their bodies.

Gazing toward the other end of the plain, the opposing Warband had also finished assembling.

This was a medium-small guild with over four thousand members, the "Split Stone Battle Group," known on the forums for its tenacious positional warfare.

The guild leader "Mountain Splitting Stone" rested a Rune Giant Hammer on his shoulder; when he saw the game ID "Mist Commander," a hint of gravity flashed in his eyes.

This ID had enjoyed a period of hype on the forums.

He was the top of the previous newbie leveling event rankings, and had also contributed the iconic "pious kowtow" meme to the forums.

Mountain Splitting Stone’s gaze swept over the brothers behind him, all in strict formation.

An iron wall formed by more than two thousand Heavy Armor Warriors and Damage Taker players, plus a thousand Support and ranged Output players.

This was the foundation of their Split Stone Guild’s foothold, excelling at Rock-like, immovable positional defense and sustained combat.

He believed that although the opponent was worshiped like a god on the forums, the essence of the assassin did not change.

Afraid of frontal clashes, lacking endurance, reliant on burst and ambush.

He admitted that "Mist Commander’s" personal strength was extremely high; to make such a name for himself during the newbie phase was by no means luck.

But the opposing Warband had fewer than six hundred people.

No matter how glorious their territory-defense achievements had been, they were still just a group of assassins.

The assassin stream’s individual combat power and decapitation ability were top-tier.

But they were not some second-rate team with loose formations that could be torn apart by one or two experts.

Mountain Splitting Stone gripped his Rune Giant Hammer tighter, confidence returning to his chest.

Their formation was layered upon layer, warriors covering each other, and the Supports’ Healing chains tightly linked.

If they tried to use Stealth to slip in, countless Binding and control effects would be waiting for them.

If they tried to forcefully attack any point, the surrounding warriors could instantly close in, leaving them no way back.

He took a deep breath and spoke in a low voice in the guild channel:

"Brothers, our opponents are the forum-famous ’Mist Commander,’ a top-tier assassin. I know many of you have used his memes—myself included."

A round of low laughter sounded in the channel, easing the tension quite a bit.

"But don’t forget, we are Split Stone. Our Shields exist to snap the Sharpest blades. No matter how strong an assassin is, he can’t punch through our iron defense head-on. This battle will be an Evil Battle; there will be blood and sweat." At this point, his voice suddenly rose:

"But the side still standing in the end will definitely be us. Let them see what a true iron wall is!"

"Roar!"

Split Stone Guild erupted with a heaven-shaking war cry, morale surging.

The front-row Damage Taker players stomped their right legs heavily, letting out a dull boom, like war drums pounding.

They were in full battle readiness, waiting for the Mist Army to attack.

Mountain Splitting Stone stared fixedly at the opposite side of the plain, his eyes turning Sharp.

In this battle, who would win or lose was still unknown.

He decided to base this match on defense and counterattack. If the other side did not attack, as time passed the death circle would force both Warbands toward the center point.

By then, the Mist Army would have nowhere to retreat.

Just as he expected, the Mist Army launched a charge at this moment.

Mountain Splitting Stone quickly made his decision:

"Everyone maintain the defense formation, keep the Healing chain uninterrupted, Support open Eagle Head for observation. We respond to all changes with the unchanged, wait for them to crash into us themselves, or wait for the death circle to shrink."

As soon as he spoke, the Mist Army began to accelerate.

Under Broken Wind’s blessing, with every blink, all members of the regiment would instantly surge forward a certain distance.

In the next instant, dozens of Death Lotuses bloomed without warning within Split Stone Guild’s tight formation.

The Mist Army released the "Flowing Shadow" trait by throwing Daggers.

Avatars dressed identically to the members of the Mist Army solidified among Split Stone Guild’s Healing and Mage ranks.

The Daggers in the Avatars’ hands traced cold arcs, precisely slicing across nearby Magic players’ throats, or stabbing into the chests of Support Professions.

Just as cries of alarm started, the Avatars that had completed their assassinations dissipated like smoke, leaving only the rune daggers stabbed into the ground.

This was only the beginning.

On the outer edge of the formation, several Heavy Armor warriors standing in full readiness were staring intently ahead, when a Mist member appeared out of thin air behind them.

A flash of cold dagger light—backstab complete.

Though it didn’t kill, the Sealing Spirit Attribute interrupted the Damage Taker player’s Qi-Blood circulation, forcibly cutting off the Gang Qi supplying his body.

The successful assassin’s figure instantly blurred, as if erased, and almost in the same split second, he appeared behind another Damage Taker not far away, once again swinging a lethal blade of light.
