Chapter 1527: Chapter 392: The Script Beneath the Faded Star Ring

The transmission ended, and the feeling of weightlessness receded like the tide.

A sense of being firmly grounded returned.

Along with it came an indescribable, dry air, mixed with rust, dust, and a piercing odor.

Ah Lan frowned slightly, then spoke:

"Life Throat, I’ve arrived."

"Understood."

Far away on Dream Island, Life Throat decisively began dismantling the array.

This was to ensure the safety of Dream Island.

The combat power of the Mingshi Clan far exceeds what the current player faction can contend with.

Keeping the teleportation array would allow the Mingshi Clan to descend upon the Bright Star Sea Area through the space channel, potentially dealing a devastating blow to Dream Island.

Though the Gold Coin Chamber of Commerce will not vanish due to this destructive operation and can soon be rebuilt in a new location.

But all infrastructure would have to start anew, which is undoubtedly troublesome.

A waste of a lot of time and energy.

The safest course of action is to dismantle the teleportation array after successfully arriving, cutting off this space connection channel.

As for returning, being a player, there’s no need to face such a problem.

Soul Return to Emperor Zhao is the destiny of every wanderer.

The silver light before him dissipated, and Ah Lan raised his head to scan his surroundings.

The view was replaced by an endless expanse of yellow-brown.

As far as the eye could see, a vast and desolate reddish-brown land.

Cracks like the lines of a parched riverbed spread to the horizon.

Within less than a hundred meters in front of him, a gigantic shadow suddenly loomed into view.

This was an overturned giant battleship, broken into several sections.

The ship’s body was long covered in thick reddish-brown dust, with much of it buried in sandstorms, leaving only the ferocious hull and twisted armor plates exposed.

It was like the skeletal remains of a long-beached giant whale.

He stepped forward to the front of the battleship, reaching out to wipe away the heavy dirt and dust.

Underneath was a star-ring insignia, long faded yet still recognizable.

It was also a symbol of the Moon Eclipse Clan.

This ship was likely one of those that branch clan people sailed to this place over two hundred years ago.

Once, it was an ark carrying the seeds of civilization and the hope of the future, supporting the branch clan people in their quest to find the dawn of civilization’s continuation.

Now, however, it lay across the red earth like useless junk, forgotten.

Ah Lan floated in the air, ascending lightly to the highest broken dragon bone of the battleship, propelled by telekinesis.

His view cleared up as he gazed far and wide.

Across the land, more metallic remains scattered and piled haphazardly, continuing to the yellow-brown horizon.

Some still retained the rough contours of ships, while others had disintegrated entirely into hills of scrap metal.

This place resembled a silent fleet graveyard.

Countless creations that once carried hope quietly decayed here.

His perception spread out from himself, like intangible ripples, meticulously discerning any trace of possible life or energy fluctuations.

The information that came back was only deathly silence.

Weathered metal, pervasive dust, dry and scorching air... no signs of life.

With a slight thought, telekinesis gently lifted him off the vast ship relic, gliding low toward the unknown region ahead.

The Eagle-headed Demon Attribute remained constantly active along the way, scanning the nearby scene.

A few minutes later, Ah Lan flew over a small hill composed of broken bridges, and his eyes suddenly narrowed.

Perception scanning revealed that ahead, on a relatively flat depression, there appeared a path not formed naturally.

This was a muddy trail winding between the wreckage, formed by countless feet treading over years.

Raising his eyes to look ahead, at the end of the path, some low, makeshift shelters built out of abandoned metal sheets could be seen, haphazardly leaning against the shadow of a capsized cargo ship, like colonies of fungi parasitizing on a giant beast’s carcass.

There seemed to be traces of life there.

Ah Lan landed silently on the outskirts of the shantytown, his footsteps on the soft sandy soil not making a sound.

He retracted all his external energy fluctuations, trying to appear as ordinary as possible.

Though his attire was too tidy, discordant with the surrounding environment.

It was then he noticed a figure not far ahead.

As he approached, he could clearly see the protruding bones beneath the tattered clothes, and the folds of dirt on the exposed skin.

"Sorry to disturb you." Ah Lan kept his voice very low, fearing to startle the other party.

The sudden voice from the front made the figure jolt, as if awakened from a dream.

An aged head slowly lifted from between its knees, revealing a wrinkled face almost eroded beyond recognition by the wind and sand.

His eyes were murky, struggling to focus for a long time before he could see Ah Lan before him clearly.

His eyes flashed with a bit of confusion, but it was finally covered by numbness.

"From the outside?" The old man’s voice seemed to expend all his energy, even inquiring.

"Yes." Ah Lan squatted down, trying to maintain eye level with the other person, and continued:

"Passing through here, I’d like to inquire about some things."

The old man’s cloudy gaze lingered on Ah Lan’s clean face and clothes for a few seconds, his throat emitting a few ambiguous hoarse sounds, like sighs:

"Inquire? There’s nothing here, nothing worth talking about for a long time."

Ah Lan’s heart sank slightly, then chose to ask differently:

"I see here... it seems very quiet, where are the other clan members? Are they all out working?"

"Working?" The wrinkles on the old man’s face twisted as if hearing an incomprehensible term.
