Chapter 3795 Masquerade
Chapter 3795 Masquerade
I had planned to stay in the tower for a few hours, but half a day had passed, and I was still here, descending, but sometimes ascending to get a few things before descending again.
The tower is big, but safe. Enough, that a few idiots have fought in it.
I have already crossed half of the tower, and I plan to cross the other half in the evening.
I am mostly focused on the books. It is the only thing; I could take as other things being swept away by those who have come before me.
I stopped in front of another shelf. It is the second shelf, I had found in this place; many floors had ten to twenty shelves, while some like this one had less than five.
I have found a large number of books in them, and many books were quite rare and interesting ones. More than two hundred have been added to the library's collection, which is an impressive feat.
I copied the formation and moved away.
Twenty minutes later, I ascended the stairs to the floor, I had been and stopped in front of the bookshelf, before waving my hand.
Breaking formations takes time. I cannot spend that time, on the floor. So, I descended and came back when I finished breaking the formations.
Click!
I opened the bookshelf, and collected all the books before going to another shelf and then another.
I was taking out the books from it, when suddenly I stopped and turned to two people stopped not far away from me. One is a stone-skinned man with rough grey stone skin, while the other green-haired elf woman, with a rapier at her waist.
"Mind sharing some of those books with us?" he asked, looking at the books greedily.
Knowledge is expensive. Even if he doesn't need books, he could sell them; there are many books here that will provide him with a good price.
"No," I replied and resumed taking out the books.
"We do not want much, just half. Which is more than fair with three of us," he said and grinned.
I looked at him and grinned back.
Rippp!
A moment later, a loud sound rang out as the woman crashed into the wall, long bloody injury across her chest.
The realistic illusion of her standing by it vanished, while he looked at me in horror.
I didn't say anything and took out my books, while the man finally moved and went to the woman. Helping her to lie down properly before feeding her potion, and seeing her healing energies, didn't seem to be working on it.
The potions are doing a better job than it is, but it would still take a few hours to heal those superficial injuries I have given her.
"What did you do to her?" asked the man.
I didn't reply and instead collected all the books and walked away. Let him get worried for a few minutes. In ten minutes, the energies would disappear, and she would be healed within a minute.
Those injuries on her are superficial, but they are very painful. Every movement she makes will cause her pain, so is the circulation of the energy.
I hope it will be enough to teach them a lesson and to be careful. I had changed my skin again.
There are a couple of Sky Sovereigns, here and I don't want them to know I am breaking the formations here. Usually, I remain careful and intentionally let the two see me breaking the formations.
They behaved disappointedly.
Sometimes, I don't get why people need to snatch the labors of others. If you want it, earn it. A smile couldn't help but appear on my face as those na?ve thoughts.
People snatch things because it is easy. There is a hard work.
Soon it was evening, and I had reached the ground floor. It was a lobby, picked clean by others. I knew that hearing the conversation of others, but still wanted to check it out.
I looked at the last look at the closed door and ascended into the stairs.
Since the door is closed, I will have to leave in the same way as I had come back.
It took over ten hours for me to descend, but less than ten minutes to reach the top floor, filled with the formation.
As I did, I found there was a completely different scene going on.
There is a purple-skinned Sky Sovereign standing in the air, and he is collecting things from the people. He is not taking their storage, but still demanding a large number of resources from them.
As I stepped out of the broken formations near the entrance. His eyes turned to me; I looked back at him.
As I reached the safe area, with a few broken formations, I flew up with my aura, changing. Earlier, my aura was such that one couldn't exactly tell my level, but most assumed it was an Earth Sovereign.
Now, it is a Sky Sovereign, mid-sky Sovereign to be exact. The same as him, but slightly stronger.
It would be much safer to just hand over the resources, but since I masqueraded myself as Sky Sovereign, a month and a half. I have taken a liking to the dangerous thing and did that a couple of times.
It had saved me a lot of trouble.
Though, I understood very well. That he only needs a single attack to find out what a sham I am.
It is a huge risk, but I seemed to get a kick out of it. More than visiting these places like the tower. It also keeps me focused for a long time.
Still, as I had said, it is not without risk and once found out, the Sky Sovereigns wouldn't leave me, till they finished me off.
He looked at me as I passed by him, but didn't say anything and turned to the person, came up, while I flew away, unharmed.
