Mom's Back. The Villain Triplets Are in Trouble.
Chapter 135 - 134: Mind Your Own Business
Chapter 135: Chapter 134: Mind Your Own Business
That evening, Gu Qingyin followed her usual routine, taking off the pendant and placing it on her nightstand before grabbing a change of clothes and heading to the bathroom.
Usually, when she came out of the bathroom, Huo Yunjing would either be waiting at the door or, having entered the pendant, would pilot it to fly in front of her so she could put it on. But today... Gu Qingyin had already finished blow-drying her hair, and the pendant hadn’t moved at all.
A little puzzled, she walked to the nightstand, picked up the pendant, and glanced at it, only to find that Huo Yunjing wasn’t inside.
"That guy..." Gu Qingyin muttered to herself. "Where’d he run off to?"
At that moment, Huo Yunjing, moving with practiced ease, arrived in front of a five-story detached villa and drifted into the master bedroom on the fifth floor.
The bedroom wasn’t pitch black. A light strip had been installed by the door, casting a warm yellow glow dim enough to see one’s surroundings without disturbing sleep.
On the large bed, a silver-haired old woman was deep in slumber. If Gu Qingyin had been there, she would have immediately recognized the woman as Old Madam Huo.
Huo Yunjing stood expressionlessly by the bedside, his eyes fixed on Old Madam Huo. He didn’t move until she seemed to sense something and her brow furrowed slightly.
A black, mist-like ghost energy wafted out, seeping into her brain through her nostrils and ears...
Old Madam Huo’s sleep was extremely restless, as if she were having a nightmare.
In the dream, the sky was dim, and she was surrounded by a gloomy, barren forest. Old Madam Huo stood amidst the trees, lost, with no idea where to go.
Suddenly, the sound of a snapping branch came from behind. Old Madam Huo turned cautiously, only to see Huo Yunjing, who had been dead for ten years.
Old Madam Huo was both shocked and terrified.
Huo Yunjing stared at her expressionlessly, his voice cold and hollow. "I hear you’re arranging a Netherworld Marriage for me?"
Old Madam Huo instinctively took a step back, tripped on something, and fell to the ground. Her expression suddenly froze.
She slowly turned her head to look at what her hand had landed on. It was a human skull.
"AH!" Old Madam Huo shrieked, instinctively pulling her hand away and scrambling backward.
As she moved, she realized the texture of the ground beneath her felt wrong. A terrible premonition bloomed in her heart. She looked down with trembling eyes and nearly fainted from fright.
The ground, beneath a thin layer of leaves, was a dense carpet of human skeletons! She was now sitting right on top of them, unable to advance or retreat.
"Answer my question," Huo Yunjing’s voice rang out again.
Old Madam Huo snapped her head up and muttered to herself, ’It’s a dream. Yes, I’m dreaming. This isn’t real.’
Huo Yunjing took a step forward.
Instantly, the lifeless skeletons beneath Old Madam Huo began to tremble! Icy blue flames appeared in their eye sockets, as if their souls had been ignited. They struggled against one another, seemingly trying to stand up.
Old Madam Huo was scared out of her wits and let out a horrified shriek.
"A Netherworld Marriage is fine, but my bride can only be Gu Qingyin," Huo Yunjing gave a chilling warning. "If there’s a next time, I’ll come for you myself and reunite you with Second Uncle."
As his words fell, Huo Yunjing’s entire form exploded into a black mist that rushed toward Old Madam Huo.
Old Madam Huo screamed in terror and instinctively squeezed her eyes shut.
When she opened her eyes again, Old Madam Huo was lying in her own bed, breathing rapidly. It took a long while for her to calm down.
’It really was a dream. But... it felt too real.’
Old Madam Huo sat up, her pajamas soaked in a cold sweat. With a trembling hand, she reached out and pressed the switch on the headboard. The next second, the bedroom was as bright as day.
Old Madam Huo carefully scanned her surroundings and, after a moment, let out a breath of relief.
She got up to go to the walk-in closet to change. As she passed a mirror, something she saw in her peripheral vision made her freeze in terror.
A few seconds later, Old Madam Huo slowly turned to face the mirror.
In the mirror, four large words were written on her face—Mind your own business!
Old Madam Huo stared at the four words, growing more terrified by the second.
’Huo Yunjing really came?! That wasn’t a dream! Huo Yunjing hasn’t gone to the Underworld yet!’
Indeed, the only reason Old Madam Huo had dared to so brazenly arrange a Netherworld Marriage for Huo Yunjing was because she had assumed he had already been reincarnated or entered the Underworld, not lingered in the mortal realm.
But clearly, she had been mistaken.
Not only had Huo Yunjing remained in the mortal realm, but he also knew of her plans and was extremely displeased.
In that short time, Old Madam Huo broke out in a cold sweat again. Her hands and feet went icy, and her body felt weak. A few seconds later, her eyes rolled back in her head, and she collapsed to the floor.
Early the next morning, the butler, sensing something was wrong, found Old Madam Huo and had her sent to the hospital.
Of course, on the way to the hospital, the four large words on Old Madam Huo’s face were inevitably seen by people, and someone eventually spread the news.
In less than half a day, the story of Old Madam Huo fainting, being hospitalized, and having "Mind your own business" written on her face by some unknown person had spread everywhere.
At the very least, everyone in the Huo Family knew.
On the way to the hospital, the butler had thoughtfully tried to wipe the words off Old Madam Huo’s face with a wet wipe. But after scrubbing for five or six minutes, her face was red and raw, yet the words remained perfectly clear, not a hint of color faded.
The butler was at a loss. ’What on earth was this written with?!’
These four large words remained on Old Madam Huo’s face for a full twenty-four hours, accompanying her throughout her entire examination at the hospital, before abruptly vanishing.
The butler had the privilege of witnessing the entire event. The moment the four words disappeared, he couldn’t help but feel his pupils shrink.
’No wonder it wouldn’t wipe off. It wasn’t written by ordinary means at all.’
When Huo Yunyang and the old madam’s biological son, Huo Yunzheng, arrived at the hospital, the butler hurriedly told them what had happened.
Huo Yunyang was annoyed. ’Who has the old lady offended this time? She’s so old, can’t she just enjoy her retirement in peace? Always causing trouble!’
Huo Yunzheng’s eyes flickered, however. ’If it’s about meddling, it must be related to arranging the Netherworld Marriage for Huo Yunjing.’
’Looking at the entire Huo Family, it’s not that there’s no one with the guts to do this, but there’s no reason to! And this method of warning is just too childish!’
Huo Yunzheng was a bit anxious, but only Old Madam Huo knew the specifics, so he could only wait for her to wake up to ask.
Since it wasn’t his own mother who was sick, Huo Yunyang just made an appearance and then left.
Afterward, a few other people trickled in to visit the patient, but none of them stayed long. They were all just going through the motions to avoid being criticized.
Gu Qingyin didn’t get the news until noon.
Mmm... because she had just woken up.
She wasn’t too surprised by the news. When Huo Yunjing returned last night, she had figured something like this would happen.
Old Madam Huo wasn’t in good health to begin with. It was perfectly normal for her to faint after being invaded by ghost energy.
Gu Qingyin didn’t object to Huo Yunjing’s actions. She was just angry that he had left without so much as a word. As a result, she had kept him up half the night, lecturing him, which was why she’d slept in so late.
After eating, Gu Qingyin took Gugu with her and got in the car, heading for the hospital.
She was an elder, after all, and they had just seen her yesterday. Besides, the old woman’s supposedly most beloved great-granddaughter was with her; it would be rude not to bring her along for a visit.
Huo Yunjing’s spectral form appeared. "Honey, are you sure you’re not just going for the drama?"
Gu Qingyin pretended not to hear him and turned to look at the scenery outside the window.
’Ah! The weather is so nice today!’
