Chapter 104: Chapter 103: Don’t Be Too Ridiculous

Once they’d eaten their fill, Gu Qingyin headed upstairs to wash up. Huo Yunjing followed at her heels, living up to his reputation as a clingy ghost.

At first, Gu Qingyin ignored him. But when she grabbed her clothes and headed into the bathroom, Huo Yunjing pushed his luck and tried to follow her inside.

Gu Qingyin sneered, glaring at him from the bathroom doorway. "Get out!"

Huo Yunjing looked at her pitifully. "Honey, I want to bathe with you."

"Why does a ghost like you need to take a bath!" Gu Qingyin took a step back, warning, "Don’t you dare sneak in, or I’ll ignore you from now on!"

Huo Yunjing looked even more wronged. "Got it."

Gu Qingyin closed and locked the door. After hesitating for a few seconds, she decided against placing a ward on it. ’I should try to trust Huo Yunjing.’

Gu Qingyin remained vigilant as she undressed for her bath, afraid Huo Yunjing would suddenly phase through the wall. But by the time she was soaking in the tub, he still hadn’t appeared.

Only then did Gu Qingyin finally relax, closing her eyes contentedly.

Five minutes later, the temperature in the bathroom plummeted. Gu Qingyin’s eyes snapped open, and she found herself staring right at Huo Yunjing, who was hanging upside down from the ceiling.

Huo Yunjing clearly hadn’t expected to be discovered so quickly and seemed stunned for a moment. But he didn’t forget to seize the opportunity, his eyes scanning back and forth like searchlights.

Gu Qingyin’s face instantly darkened. She raised a hand and unleashed a Water Curse, roaring, "Get the hell out!"

Huo Yunjing got a face full of water and vanished back into the wall.

Too furious to continue her bath, Gu Qingyin got out, rinsed off, quickly dried herself, and stormed out of the bathroom, radiating killing intent.

The room was perfectly quiet, as if there was no ghost present.

Gu Qingyin took a deep breath and began to count down in a low voice, "Three... two..."

"Honey!" Huo Yunjing quickly materialized and slid to his knees in apology. "I was wrong."

Gu Qingyin snorted coldly, grabbed Huo Yunjing by the ear, and started dragging him toward the door.

Huo Yunjing didn’t want to go, but he didn’t dare resist. ’Honey is already angry,’ he thought. ’I can’t make her even angrier.’

So, Huo Yunjing began to passively resist.

He went completely limp, letting Gu Qingyin do as she pleased. He refused to move on his own, but his body was so light and ethereal that she could pull him without any effort at all, as easily as flying a kite.

And so, without putting up any resistance, Huo Yunjing was kicked out of the bedroom by Gu Qingyin.

As the bedroom door slammed shut with a BANG, Huo Yunjing slid down along the door to sit on the floor, sighing with a woeful expression.

’There’s no ward on the door, but I don’t dare phase through it anymore.’

Gu Qingyin dried her hair, shot a cold snort at the bedroom door, then got into bed, turned off the light, and went to sleep.

’As for a certain ghost, if I don’t teach him a lesson, he’ll really start to think I’m a pushover!’

Just as she was drifting off to sleep, Gu Qingyin’s phone rang. She picked it up; just as she’d expected, it was Huo Xinghai.

"Xinghai, is there anything you want to tell your mother?" Gu Qingyin got straight to the point, adding a reminder, "Mommy doesn’t like children who lie."

"..." Huo Xinghai replied, "Mom, can you act normal? I’m not a little kid anymore."

Gu Qingyin scoffed. "If you were a little kid, I might forgive you for lying, but now? I’m not so sure."

Huo Xinghai was completely baffled. "What did I lie about?"

Gu Qingyin gritted her teeth. "I’ll give you one last chance. I saw Xia Zelin today, and I saw your purchase history with him."

It suddenly dawned on Huo Xinghai. "Ah!" he exclaimed. "The Wooden Ghost Doll!"

"Mhm. So where did you hide that Ghost Doll?"

"No, that wooden doll isn’t mine!" Huo Xinghai said, his voice urgent. "I bought it for someone else."

Gu Qingyin hadn’t expected this twist. She was shocked. "You can buy that kind of thing on behalf of someone else? You two must be really close."

’Normally, anyone raising a little ghost would be incredibly secretive about it. To have someone else buy it for you... that’s just unheard of.’

Gu Qingyin grew suspicious. "You’re not lying to me, are you?"

Huo Xinghai was so flustered he started to sweat. "I would never lie to you! If you don’t believe me, I’ll take you to her tomorrow!"

"Deal." Gu Qingyin agreed at once. Then she added, "And while you’re at it, clear your schedule for the next few days. I’m taking you to cleanse your Karma."

Huo Xinghai understood the priorities. "Okay, I’ll talk it over with Brother Jian."

Satisfied, Gu Qingyin said, "Go get some rest. See you tomorrow."

Huo Xinghai breathed a sigh of relief. "Good night, Mom. See you tomorrow."

After a deep sleep, Gu Qingyin woke up at eight o’clock sharp. Ten minutes later, she was ready and opened her bedroom door.

"Honey..." A voice, Leng Youyou and tinged with resentment, sounded out. "Good morning."

Gu Qingyin, looking bright and energetic, replied, "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

Huo Yunjing’s expression grew even more mournful. "Honey, you bullied me."

"I did not!" Gu Qingyin turned and walked away, muttering, "Not listening, not listening, the toad is chanting scriptures!"

"I’m much more handsome than a toad." Huo Yunjing reverted to his clingy ghost form, sticking close to Gu Qingyin’s back and whining, "Honey, don’t you love me anymore? Why won’t you let me bathe and sleep with you? We used to do everything together..."

"Shut up!" Gu Qingyin spun around and clamped a hand over his mouth, her cheeks burning as she glared at him. "You can’t say things like that out here, understand? If I hear it again... you’ll be banned from the room for a month!"

Huo Yunjing’s eyes widened in terror. He nodded his head furiously and promised in a muffled voice, "I got it! I absolutely won’t say it again!"

Gu Qingyin casually pinched his cheek and sighed. ’You’re so foolish. What am I going to do with you?’

Huo Yunjing mumbled his dissatisfaction. "I’m not foolish..."

Gu Qingyin paid him no mind and went downstairs for breakfast.

’A dark cloud hung over Huo Yunjing’s expression. ’Honey really doesn’t love me as much as she used to. What should I do?’’

He followed her downstairs, lost in thought, turning invisible just before they encountered anyone.

Downstairs, the cleaning lady spaced out for a second. ’Did I just see something?’ She rubbed her temples and sighed to herself. ’I really can’t stay up all night binge-watching dramas anymore. I’m starting to see things.’

After breakfast, Gu Qingyin left the house with Huo Xingchen and Mao Mao. As for Huo Yunjing, there was no need to bring him along; he would follow on his own.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, Huo Xingchen fastened his seatbelt and asked, "Where are we going?"

"To your second brother’s place," Gu Qingyin said from the back seat, her eyes closed as she rested. She was stroking Mao Mao with one hand. "You know the address, right?"

"I do." Huo Xingchen released the parking brake and stepped on the accelerator. "Did you arrange it with Second Brother?"

"Nope." A small smile played on Gu Qingyin’s lips. "Your second brother wrapped up late last night, so we should let him sleep in. It won’t be too late to tell him once we’re there."

’After thinking it over and over, she still felt that buying a Ghost Doll for someone else was just too absurd. That’s why she’d decided to pay Huo Xinghai a surprise visit today!’

Huo Xingchen didn’t suspect a thing and nodded in agreement. "Second Brother’s job is really tough. When his schedule is packed, it’s normal for him to work around the clock. He can only catch naps on the road, and he has absolutely no personal life. I don’t know how he manages."

Gu Qingyin felt a mix of heartache and pride. "Xinghai is truly passionate about music."

Huo Xingchen lifted his chin proudly. "Just like I’m passionate about e-sports."

Gu Qingyin’s eyes curved as she smiled. "All of my sons are exceptional."
