Chapter 1200 - Cutting Corners
Chapter 1200 Cutting Corners
“Oh my!” Bai Shien dropped his jaw and flinched when he saw the little nuggets resting on Jiang Fei’s palm. He need not ask what it was and immediately knew what it was as the aura of Valium was coming at him, like the heat from a wildfire.
As the grandmaster of the Snow Mountain Sect, and a man that had lived for more than 200 years, he had seen and done many things. Naturally, he had seen a Godblade, as a matter of fact, he owned one too! The problem was that many Godblades that were in human possession were already processed and forged into weapons for the Namekians.
Namekians did not have limbs—they walked around like a reversed octopus with tentacles protruding out from their heads. The weapons they used could not be used by humans. It was not meant to be. The best way to describe would be handing a keyboard to a giraffe or an elephant.
Jiang Fei’s weapon was different. The dart tips were small and could fit into basically any other weapons. Bai Shien, a fighter that specialized in hidden weaponry, could make full use of the dart tips. That was why Bai Shien dropped his jaw and stared in awe when Jiang Fei presented the dart tips.
“Where… How on Earth did you get these?” Bai Shien asked, his voice trembled with excitement. These things were already combat-ready and it would be the ultimate weapon for any Level 5 master.
“My master made them!” Jiang Fei exclaimed. Since the persona had not yet been blown, Jiang Fei had the intention to use Zhuge Shanzhen to its fullest.
“Ahh! Such a magnificent person he is!” Bai Shien praised. The discovery of Godblade or Valium was dated for a few thousand years back. Many had tried but failed to reforge these incredible weapons. Unfortunately, not a single blacksmith on Earth, even the legendary ones were able to melt the weapon. As such, many Level 5 masters in the world possessed Godblades, but only as collectible items. Their value was high but only as a means of aesthetic—a token of power.
“Senior Bai, are you interested in these little things?” Jiang Fei purposely toyed with the dart tips in his palms, moving back and forth. Jiang Fei already knew what Bai Shien would say since the man was not even trying to hide the excitement on his face. Even a monkey could pick up those signs that said that Bai Shien wanted those dart tips badly.
“My friend, I’m asking a favor here. Please, for the love of God, let me talk to your master!” Bai Shien swallowed a mouthful of saliva and pleaded. The dignified look of a Level 5 Metahuman was now gone. His demeanor changed from that of a god-like being to a mortal with materialistic desire. Even his attitude towards Jiang Fei changed. At the beginning, he merely addressed Jiang Fei as “boy”. Now, he became a “friend”!
“My master? He’s always busy with something. I can try but what do you want to meet him for?” Jiang Fei asked. The stronger the opponent, the least Jiang Fei would flaunt the name of Zhuge Shanzhen. The disparity of power between Level 5 and Level 4 was heaven and earth. He was only so lucky to be able to fool the other Level 5 Metahumans. But if someone managed to get the better of Jiang Fei, the entire persona would be blown.
“I’ll come clean. I have here another Godblade I was hoping to talk to your master about reforging it into a form that I can use! You need not worry. I will be forever in his debts if he grants me this request,” said Bai Shien with his eyes opened wide.
“Mhm… Well…”
Jiang Fei was torn. He did not want anyone to see Zhuge Shanzhen but having a Level 5 Metahuman to owe him a favor was tempting. On one hand, Jiang Fei could get him some Valium for himself by cutting corners during the reforge.
“My friend, please! You gotta help me!” Bai Shien quickly approached Jiang Fei when he saw Jiang Fei was contemplating about the request. He jumped down from his stool and was about to hold Jiang Fei’s hands, merely as a means to show his sincerity. However, at the second Bai Shien was about to raise his hands, a gust of powerful sharp gale blew over.
Faster than a speeding bullet, Sylphy disappeared from behind Jiang Fei and stood in between he and Bai Shien. That was not even the full extent of her speed, merely a basic flash-step technique.
Bai Shien was taken aback. When the three entered the cave, Bai Shien had already gauge all of the power levels. He knew that Ariel was the strongest amongst them while Jiang Fei and Sylphy was only at the Pinnacle stage of Level 4. Little did he knew that the flashy girl was only hiding her presence to well that she was able to mask her true powers! It had only proved just how strong Sylphy was when even Bai Shien was fooled by it.
“I see. Pardon my boorishness. Forgive me for ignorance,” said Bai Shien after he had realized that Sylphy was another Level 5 fighter. He was apologizing for calling her a baby doll when she made a comment about his living quarters.
“Please. Don’t be. Sylphy, please stand down. We are amongst friends,” Jiang Fei patted Sylphy on her shoulders before asking her to retreat. He then quickly turned to Bai Shien and bowed to him apologetically.
“I’m extremely sorry for this. My fellow seniors and juniors here aren’t used to behaving amongst others.”
“It’s all good! All good!” Bai Shien retreated back a little and said. He was regretting his early judging of these three young ones. At that moment, his thoughts about how mysterious Jiang Fei’s master was had only gotten stronger.
Even though Jiang Fei was behaving extremely humbly, he was actually hoping Sylphy or Ariel could do something to demonstrate his force. He was always in the passive, pretending to not want to flaunt his strength. He did not forget that his main purpose then was to “recruit” Level 5 grandmasters to join his cause—to fight the Unknowns. If he remained passive all the time, how would the grandmaster know his true powers, and why would they team up with him if he was truly weak?
“Senior Bai, the Godblade you mentioned, may I see it?” Jiang Fei asked.
“Sure!” Bai Shien agreed at the spur of the moment. Bai Shien would never reveal the weapon in front of someone else, not even other Level 5 Metahumans, but since it was Jiang Fei, the man caved in immediately. He was building his own expectations, thinking that Jiang Fei had requested to look at the weapon to inspect it for the reforge. It would only be stupid for him to not allow Jiang Fei to see it.
In no time at all, Bai Shien returned from the back of the cave and handed Jiang Fei a wooden box. The box was huge and when Jiang Fei opened it, a sharp, round chakram rested on red velvet cloth. The entire chakram had no blunt ends, not even the inside of it. It was incredibly unsuited for human use.
“0543, examine the blade and check for its Valium content,” Jiang Fei quickly ordered.
“Captain, the chakram contains exactly 21.5 grams of Valium,” 0543 replied in only two seconds later. Jiang Fei was excited. That amount of Valium was roughly the same amount of Valium when he first forged the Zhanlu Sword.
“Senior Bai, how do you wish to reforge this?” Jiang Fei turned to Bai Shien, who was fidgeting with excitement, and asked.
“Could it be done like so?” Bai Shien trembled as he showed Jiang Fei a small leather parchment depicting an illustration of two, palm-size, spinning needles. The name of the weapon, imprinted on the top of the parchment, was Er Mei Water Splitting Needle.
“Mhm… Interesting,” Jiang Fei mumbled as he analyzed the parchment. The weapon or needles was built with the intention to stab. It was a dual-handed weapon, with a rotating axle attachment to the middle of the needle, and a ring on the end of the axle to be fittin in the middle finger in each hand. The structure of the weapon was intriguing. Most importantly, Jiang Fei could make good use of it. Since the weapon was mainly used for stabbing, he could only coat the surface of the pointy end of the needle with Valium and not the entire weapon. There were four pointy ends and that would only take less than 10 grams of Valium in total. If done correctly, Jiang Fei could cut corners and claim more than half of the provided Valium for himself.
