Chapter 796 Four Pillars: A Show of Power
Chapter 796 Four Pillars: A Show of Power
“Graah!”
“Hyah!”
As his opponents let out grunts and screams as they charged towards him, Valyr dodged all of their attacks with great ease thanks to his high dexterity.
“Definitely more pleasant to the ears than the roars those primitive humanoids would give,” muttered the young man to himself, briefly glancing at the building he had jumped down from.
Wondering whether the two had finally come to terms with the situation they were in once more, Valyr thought back to the conversation he just had with them earlier.
Of course, the young man understood where the two were coming from. After all, who would want to fight against innocent-looking humans for no apparent reason?
However, they had many reasons to fight these feral humans.
For one, they aimed to enter the Gates of Transcendence to improve their strengths even further for the skirmish that awaited them outside.
With the feral humans basically barring them from entering, they were basically left with no choice but to fight against them if they wanted to achieve their goals.
Then again, it wasn’t as if there was no other incentive to fighting against the feral humans.
After all, as long as these guys caught a whiff of their presence, they would pounce on them like a bunch of ravenous wolves that wanted a bite of their meat.
If they didn’t want to die to a bunch of innocent-looking humans that only saw them as sustenance, then they would need to fight.
“Hup.” Briefly scanning his vicinity, Valyr dodged a series of attacks from the feral humans around him, their strikes all aimed at his vital organs.
Though, once again, with his high DEX stat, he had avoided all of them with ease, putting the feral humans at a spot that left them vulnerable.
“[Arcane Shadow Serpent Magic Style].”
“[Toxic Manastorm]!”
Raising one of his arms, the young man willed his Shadow Energy and mana to move, activating the upgraded version of [Noxious Rain] as it manifested into a billowing cloud of black and blue energy.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Then, not long after, a flurry of energy bolts began to rain from the massive cloud.
Taking on varying shapes and sizes, the power contained within the bolts were more than enough to bore multiple holes through the ground Valyr walked on.
“Agh!”
“Grah!”
“Mngh!”
Surprisingly, the feral humans continued to charge towards the young man even after the latter had unleashed his counterattack.
Because of that, all of the feral humans he was fighting against, as well as most of those in the vicinity, had been struck by at least one of the bolts, removing a decently large chunk of their health.
“Not gonna lie, this was a stupid move.” Waving his hands around to manipulate some of the bolts to his will, Valyr could not help but inwardly admonish himself for deciding to fight against the feral humans all of a sudden.
Sure, with the True Wyvern Armor equipped and his extensive skill set that bolstered both his damage and stats, he would have no problem fighting against the feral humans on his own.
Even more so with the combat experience he had accrued so far from both his past life and current life.
However, even though he had all of these advantages under his belt that would allow him to fight against the feral humans with ease, he still thought of his current actions as stupid.
Why?
Because he had something that would not only allow him to kill the feral humans with one hit, but also allow him to do so from the comfort of their temporary camp.
“Then again, I’ve yet to create more of the items needed to load those firearms after looting the Enlightenment Material Cache for materials,” said Valyr to himself, faintly chuckling at the thought.
“I’ll go and do that after this, then.”
“[Arcane Shadow Serpent Magic Style].”
“[Arcane Fang of the Shadow Serpent]!”
Seeing that the number of feral humans in his vicinity had begun to thin out, Valyr decided to make the most of his current momentum by unleashing yet another skill.
Continuing to keep a part of his mind focused on controlling [Toxic Manastorm], the young man willed more Shadow Energy and mana to circulate through his body.
Whoosh!
Within seconds, a fang made out of black and blue energy appeared above Valyr’s head, prompting him to take a deep breath as he felt additional strain wash over his mind at that moment.
Taking note of the feral humans that had been antagonizing him ever since he had jumped down, the young man finally made his move, utilizing the corporeal fang as a blade of sorts as he waved it around.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
To no surprise, the feral humans that were hit by the fang were all sent flying, their health taking a massive dip after coming in contact with it.
Adding on the fact that the cloud way above Valyr’s head continued to rain down bolts of destruction, some of the feral humans had already succumbed to the accumulated damage, their bodies eventually deprived of their vitality.
“Just a bit more…” Watching as the scales were finally tipping towards his favor, the young man continued to attack with greater ferocity, even going so far as to make use of the things he had learned whilst in the Gates of Awakening.
In the end, it had only taken a few more minutes for all of the feral humans in Valyr’s vicinity to fall to the ground, the immediate silence brought by it being slightly eerie.
Letting out a long exhale, the young man dispelled both of his skills as he took out a mana potion from his spatial bracelet.
Feeling his mana reserves swiftly fill up by the second, Valyr scratched the back of his head for a bit as he looked at the havoc he had wreaked just now.
“I guess this is more than enough of a wakeup call for the two to realize that the beings below them would stop at nothing to kill them,” said the young man to himself, making his way back to the temporary camp through the building’s stairs.
“Then again, with all things considered, with how these beings act, it’s pretty easy to shift your mindset to where you’d have no qualms fighting them.”
“After all, you just gotta think of them as yet another person who would stop at nothing to see your utter demise.”
“Yeah. I’m sure they would have no problem imagining that.” “Especially with how many people like that flock to their feet because of their heavenly talent.”
…
Arriving at the temporary camp once more, Valyr wondered whether the two would do something similar to what happened back when they fought against the primitive humanoids, apologizing for their earlier thoughts.
However, what greeted him was not the apologetic expressions of both Vera and Hal.
Instead, the two looked at him with disbelief written all over their faces, wondering whether the Valyr before them was the same Valyr they knew.
“What… kind of rewards did you receive from the Gates of Awakening?” Taking some time to recover from the shock Valyr’s earlier display of power gave him, Hal eventually snapped back to reality to ask the question.
“Of course, if you don’t mind sharing.”
“I don’t really mind,” said Valyr in response, though only after having the two promise to tell the rewards they’d gotten from the Gates of Awakening in exchange.
“Anyways, I got some of my core skills upgraded. Same goes for the Intent Seed I’ve comprehended,” Valyr told the two. “And then a couple Hidden Stats here and there.”
“That’s a lot,” replied Hal, explaining the rewards he had gotten from his run at the Gates of Awakening.
After that, Vera told Valyr about the rewards she had gotten from her run.
Nodding in response to their words, the young man inwardly had a bitter smile on his face, thinking about how he had yet to grab his remaining rewards from the Gates of Awakening.
‘Thank the heavens I could claim it at any time I want,’ briefly thought the young man to himself, focusing his attention back to the two before him not long after.
Unsurprisingly, after getting over the shock that Valyr’s fight from earlier gave them, Hal and Vera made it known to the young man that their thoughts had been another case of what happened back with the primitive humanoids.
Feeling like the two would apologize to him once more after that, the young man took the initiative to say that it was fine, reminding them that such thoughts were a great thing to have rather than a bad thing.
After talking about the topic for a bit more, Hal and Vera eventually suggested to Valyr that they would try their hand at fighting against the feral humans, getting some courage from the fight he had just shown them.
In response, the young man told them to be vigilant when fighting against the feral humans, to which he received a couple of nods back.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
“And there they go.” Finding it amusing how the two had decided to head down the building the same way he did, the young man watched the two move through the streets of the ruins’ center for a bit as they eventually found their first set of foes.
Confident that the two would have no problem fighting against them with their current strengths, Valyr then shifted his gaze elsewhere, recalling that there was something he needed to go to in the center of the city ruins.
Though, just as his eyes landed on the barren spot he had gone to back when he was preparing to fight the quadrant leaders…
He felt a feeling of beckoning from the barren spot, urging him to come closer as soon as possible.
