Chapter 789 Four Pillars: Shared Gaze

Ding!

[The process of forging an item can be approached from a myriad of ways. However, there only exists one original process that has become the basis for all of the styles many generations of blacksmiths have created throughout the years.]

[With you having glimpsed upon this original style, your understanding of your own forging process, as well as the art of blacksmithing in general, has become simpler yet more profound at the same time, allowing you to tap into more of your materials’ potential.]

[Your understanding of the forging process has deepened and crystallized even further, reaching a culmination point. The world has taken notice of this, allowing you to borrow another portion of its nigh-infinite power.]

[Your Intent Seed of Forging has ascended to the Culmination Stage.]

[Similar to forging, there are a myriad number of ways to handle and control the flames of the forge. Yet, just like forging, all of those methods originate from a singular method that allowed the art of blacksmithing to get to where it is today.]

[With you having glimpsed upon this original style, your understanding over flames, as well as your control over these flames, have grown deeper, allowing you to tap into more of your materials’ potential.]

[Your understanding of the flames of forging has deepened and crystallized even further, reaching a culmination point. The world has taken notice of this, allowing you to borrow another portion of its nigh-infinite power.]

[Your Intent Seed of the Forger’s Flames has ascended to the Culmination Stage.]

Opening up his notification screen to briefly check on his notifications, a faint smile crept up onto the young man’s lips, showing the satisfaction and delight he felt at that very moment.

After all, if one were to follow the journey his Intent Seed of Forging and the Forger’s Flames to get to where they were today, one would realize that their progression had come full circle.

The two Intent Seeds had both awakened thanks to the First Forger’s previous memory.

Then, through the Chambers of Enlightenment, he was able to ascend both Intent Seeds to the First and Second Stages.

And now that he had gained access to the First Forger’s memory again, he had brought them to the point where they were only one step away from becoming a full Intent.

‘I should really find an opportunity to upgrade my Intent Seed of Shadow Energy at some point,’ thought the young man, briefly pondering over the other possible Intent Seeds he could obtain from his list.

Nevertheless, it did not take long for the young man to return his attention to what was happening before him, pushing all his earlier thoughts to the side for the meantime.

“For now, that should do it.” Placing the forging hammer to the side, the First Forger picked up the knuckle once more.

Nodding in satisfaction, he admired the increased level of craftsmanship his new class brought, sensing that the aura being emanated by the artifact had become more pronounced.

At the same time, he admired the fact that the design of the knuckle became more exquisite thanks to the upgrade, its current appearance now making it seem like the artifact was crafted by the heavens rather than his own hands.

Unsurprisingly, the man activated his identification skill on the metal knuckle not long after, wanting to see how much of an improvement his sudden decision to upgrade the artifact gave him.

“Holy shit,” muttered Valyr in disbelief, the memory giving him a full view of the artifact’s new and improved description.

For the most part, the artifact’s abilities stayed the same.

However, for its skills that passively boosted the user’s stats, it had undergone a slight improvement, as well as the scaling effect that the last two skills had.

Then again, those parts of the artifact did not surprise Valyr that much.

Instead, what surprised him was the fact that the artifact had upgraded in rarity.

But it did not gain a plus modifier like he had expected.

Instead, it had skipped the intermediary rarity altogether and ascended to Legendary grade, bringing a whole host of titles and achievements that the First Forger would undoubtedly benefit from.

“I guess I should go and update Minara and Neure on my situation.”

Letting out a slight chuckle, the First Forger allowed the notification sounds to resound in his mind as he began to clean up the space before leaving.

At the same time, he took a look at the notifications he received, all of which prompted the expression on his face to turn into a grin.

Whether it was due to his familiarity with the place or thanks to his new class, it only took a few minutes for the First Forger to get ready to leave the place, returning to his usual position as the leader of his city.

Though, just as he was about to leave, the First Forger stared off in a certain direction with narrowed eyes.

“Hmm…”

“Probably just my imagination.”

In the end, the man shrugged his shoulders, leaving the space as he began to make his way out of the city hall.

On the other hand, Valyr let out a wide sigh of relief after seeing the First Forger’s disappearance.

“Is this another case of what happened in Sven’s memory?”

Recalling how the man was staring at him with eyes filled with suspicion, the young man felt a hint of fear and shock building up within him.

Because of that, he began to ponder whether the First Forger had done something similar to Sven, wherein he wanted to leave a message for the future generation that would see his memory.

Yet, from the expression and body language of the man before his departure, it looked like it wasn’t intentional at all.

With that, he began to wonder why the First Forger decided to look in his direction, even though the memory had occurred over tens of thousands of years ago.

Unfortunately, before he could ponder over the question any further, the memory ended not long after.

Whoosh!

With his body and senses being returned to the barren trial grounds, Valyr sat on the ground for a bit as he scratched the back of his head.

Gathering his thoughts, the young man went over all of the things he’d learned and found out through the recent memory, somewhat feeling like he was getting closer to the answers he sought.

Though, at the same time, he felt like he was as far away from the answers as ever, prompting him to let out a sigh as he stood up.

“Only one opportunity left to have my questions answered, then,” muttered the young man to himself as a doorway leading to a massive courtyard appeared not far from him.

Hearing the monotonous voice say that the doorway would lead him to the actual Gates of Awakening in order for him to receive the other rewards he had yet to claim, the young man went silent for a bit as he pondered whether or not to get them.

In the end, his expression became firm, staring at the sky as he had made up his mind.

“I would like to return to the inheritance proper.”
