Chapter 701 Four Pillars: Chambers of Enlightenment

“For a place named the Chambers of Enlightenment, it definitely doesn’t look the part.”

Standing in front of what looked to be a dilapidated church from the outside, Valyr looked at the building for a bit before turning his attention towards the surroundings.

“Then again, for a place named the Chambers of Enlightenment, it’s definitely located in a place that makes it look the part.”

Unlike many of the previous buildings he had gone through earlier, the building known as the Chambers of Enlightenment was actually located a considerable distance away from the Gates of Enlightenment.

In fact, the Chambers of Enlightenment was situated outside the courtyard, needing Valyr to head through one of the paths leading down the mountain for a bit before arriving there.

Aside from that, the Chambers of Enlightenment, as well as the area surrounding the building looked quite austere, a stark contrast to the extravagance shown by the buildings in the courtyard.

‘I wonder how many people in the past must’ve mistaken this place for an abandoned church?’ Faintly smiling at the thought he had, Valyr began to move towards the building’s entrance.

Though, just like many of the important buildings he had entered in the past, an energy field swiftly appeared before the entrance, blocking him from going in any further.

Seeing the energy field pop up to bar him from entering once again, Valyr let out a faint chuckle.

‘Eh. This will be the last time I’ll have to go through something like this anyway.’

Though there were a couple more buildings within the Gates of Enlightenment that was deemed important by the information he had obtained, after finding out what those other buildings contained, Valyr decided not to head to those areas.

After all, from what he could infer, those remaining buildings were tailored towards the three other classes aside from blacksmiths.

Of course, Valyr also knew that there was an area specifically made for blacksmiths within the Gates of Enlightenment.

However, unlike the other areas, which seemed to contain items that would aid them on their journey to a higher level of mastery in their class…

The area made for blacksmiths only appeared to be a slightly better forge than the ones he borrowed from the Blacksmith Guild.

‘If I could haul away the large equipment within that forge and take it with me back to the outside world, then that would be great,’ thought the young man to himself.

Then, he let out a sigh. ‘It’s a shame that they’re affixed to the building itself.’

Shrugging his shoulders at what he considered to be a momentary disappointment, Valyr moved closer towards the Chambers of Enlightenment’s entrance, prompting a monotonous voice to soon echo out from the energy field.

“Only those with an authority level of 5 and above are permitted to enter the Enlightenment Material Cache.”

“An authority level of 5, huh.” Valyr briefly widened his eyes in surprise. “I guess it’s more important than I initially thought.”

From the information he had obtained from the system regarding the Chambers of Enlightenment, it told him that the Chambers of Enlightenment was a place where members would go to resolve confusion in their minds.

Of course, reading that at first made the young man wonder why the place was considered to be important, thinking that it was a therapy room of some sort.

Though, as he continued to read through the information he obtained, it was only then was his interest piqued.

According to the information he had gotten, all of those who had entered the Chambers of Enlightenment came into the building with a problem that confused them.

However, after they left the place, such things that confused earlier were now as simple as breathing to them.

Not only that, but those who left the place came out stronger than they were when they came in.

It was all thanks to that sentence that Valyr made up his mind to head to the Chambers of Enlightenment, extending one of his arms towards the energy field at the moment to gain access.

Whoosh!

At the very moment he extended his arm, the familiar faint blue light from the energy field swiftly covered it in its entirety as it did its job within seconds.

“Verifying… authority has been verified to be beyond Level 10.”

“Further verification has been done… authority has been verified to be Level 13.”

“You are permitted to enter the Chambers of Enlightenment.”

Swoosh!

Hearing that he had been verified to enter the building, Valyr faintly nodded in response as he began to head in.

Though, unlike the previous buildings he had gone to such as the Enlightenment Skill Pavilion and the Enlightenment Material Cache, the insides of the Chambers of Enlightenment were similar to what it looked outside.

“It seriously looks like an abandoned church at first glance,” muttered the young man, taking note of the scattered seats, as well as the stone altar at the very front of the place.

Deciding to explore the place even further for clues as to how the Chambers of Enlightenment made people that entered it stronger when they came out, Valyr quickly stopped in his tracks once a familiar monotonous voice began to resound throughout the building.

“Scanning member…”

Just as Valyr was about to wonder what was going on, a familiar faint blue light enveloped his entire body, only to disappear after a few seconds had passed.

“Verifying… authority has been verified to be beyond Level 10.”

“Further verification has been done… authority has been verified to be Level 13.”

“Due to your authority level, the Chambers of Enlightenment shall give you the maximum number of opportunities to expound on your confusions, which is three.”

“Wait… expound on my confusions?” Listening to the voice’s words, Valyr quickly became confused. “What do you mean by that?”

Fortunately, the voice responded.

“The Chambers of Enlightenment shall aid you in clearing up what confuses you, may it be mundane things such as what food you should today, to more complex things such as skills, techniques, and Intents.”

At the very moment Valyr heard the voice mention the word ‘Intent’, it was as if all of the thoughts in his mind began to click into place.

With that, he began to ask the voice more questions about it.

“Would it be possible to use my opportunities on only Intents?”

“Yes, that would be possible. Even the formation of an Intent Seed from nothing can be expounded upon.”

“Would it be possible to use all my opportunities on one Intent?”

“Unfortunately, no. The Chambers of Enlightenment can only expound on an Intent once. However, if the member has more Intents they want to expound on, they are free to use their other opportunities.”

“How much of an improvement would one opportunity bring to my Intent?”

“That wholly depends on the member’s level of comprehension. Though, on average, one opportunity of expounding on one’s Intent would allow their comprehension to go up by one stage.”

“Is that so?” At this point, Valyr grinned. “In that case…”

“I would like to use my first opportunity to expound on the Intent Seed of Shadow Energy.”
