Chapter 696 Four Pillars: Material Cache
Whoosh!
Arriving at the courtyard once more, Valyr took in the sights in front of him for a bit before letting out a wide sigh.
“To be honest, I would’ve preferred to come here after my authority level reached the limit,” muttered the young man as he began to head towards the building in the southwest.
“However, if I keep on grinding my authority level for too long, the others would surely leave me behind.”
With how he had access to both the Gates of Enlightenment and the trials that would eventually lead him to the Gates of Awakening, it took quite some time for Valyr to come to a decision.
Though, in the end, he still chose to enter the Gates of Enlightenment first before taking the Gates of Awakening’s trials even though he knew he’d lag behind the four even more.
As to why that was the case…
It was because he had a strong feeling the Gates of Enlightenment still had something to offer him.
“Finally here again.” Standing in front of the inconspicuous building he had come to before, a faint smile appeared on his face as he began to move towards the energy field that blocked its entrance.
“The Enlightenment Material Cache.”
Unsurprisingly, at the very moment he was only a fair distance away from the barrier, the monotonous voice from before resounded out once more.
“Only those with an authority level of 4 and above are permitted to enter the Enlightenment Material Cache.”
“Fortunately for you, my authority level is beyond that already,” replied Valyr with a chuckle, allowing the energy field to do its thing.
Extending his right arm towards the barrier, a faint blue light soon emanated from the latter, enveloping his arm in its entirety.

Thankfully, this time around, the statement it gave him was something Valyr wanted to hear.
“Verifying… authority has been verified to be beyond Level 10.”
“Further verification has been done… authority has been verified to be Level 13.”
“You are permitted to enter the Enlightenment Material Cache.”
Swoosh!
Watching the energy field blocking the entrance gradually disappear after those words, the smile on Valyr’s face unknowingly began to widen as he made his way into the building.
…
“This place is bigger than I thought.”
After entering the Enlightenment Material Cache, Valyr was left at a slight loss for words after seeing that the insides of the place was far larger than how it looked on the outside.
In a way, it reminded him of the Boundless Skill Pavilion he frequented for skill books back then.
Then again, he felt that the Enlightenment Skill Pavilion had its insides spatially expanded as well, but only to a lesser degree.
“Either way, that means more materials for me to stash into my spatial bracelets.” Grinning at the thought, Valyr proceeded to head deeper into the Enlightenment Material Cache.
Of course, as a storage for the Gates of Enlightenment’s materials, it went without saying that Valyr had already seen shelves upon shelves of materials he could store in his bracelet just after entering the place.
However, unlike the information he had obtained, which told him that the Enlightenment Material Cache mostly contained materials that would be difficult to find in the outside world, he skipped over all of these shelves without hesitation.
Or at least, he skipped over them for the meantime.
After all, most of the shelves near the entrance were filled with dry goods and food that took a long time to expire.
Sure, Valyr knew that they were important since their supplies of such things were limited in the inheritance.
But when compared to the allure that rare materials brought, the young man would not hesitate to choose the latter over the former.
Swoosh!
Hastening his pace, the young man proceeded to delve deeper and deeper into the shelves of the Enlightenment Material Cache.
What initially held items that were considered daily necessities soon turned more and more valuable, with basic weapons of all sorts taking over the shelves by the time he seemed to be a quarter of the way through the corridors.
By the time he felt as if he had gone halfway through the corridors, the shelves were now filled with equipment that would be highly sought by those in the outside world.
In fact, even Valyr was tempted to grab a couple of them to get an idea as to how they were forged.
Nevertheless, he discarded the thought and pushed forward.
Whoosh!
Aside from a plethora of equipment that would make even imperial clans in the outside world drool from sheer greed, the Enlightenment Material Cache also housed quite a lot of pills and other things related to alchemy.
Though, due to him being a blacksmith, he glossed over all of these items for the meantime just like the dry goods and imperishable foods.
Instead, he proceeded to head a bit deeper through the corridors, eventually finding himself standing in front of what seemed to be the deepest parts of the Enlightenment Material Cache.
“Jackpot.” Staring at the items displayed on the shelves before him, Valyr let out a bit of laughter filled with glee.
After all, most, if not all of the shelves in front of him currently held forging materials that even he would have difficulty locating in the outside world.
“Crystallized Arcane Essence… Stellar Lahar… Metravudia Jewel Fragments…”
“They even have a couple of Elder Wyvern Scales lying around…”
Looking through the items as he tried his best to recognize as many of them, Valyr scratched the back of his head from the sheer awe he felt from seeing these items from up close.
After all, if any one of these items were to be auctioned off, a kingdom wouldn’t be enough to hold the number of people that wanted to get their hands on that item.
If anything, at least three empires would have to work together in order to set up such an auction.
And that was just for that one item alone!
Taking in a few deep breaths to calm himself from the excitement he felt towards the items, Valyr began to walk around the place for a bit more, eventually finding what seemed to be an unused spatial bracelet.
Considering that this spatial bracelet was located at the end of the corridor, the young man began to get excited as he started the process of binding the bracelet to himself.
Though, just as he was about to successfully bind the new spatial bracelet to himself, Valyr noticed something peculiar behind the shelf where he found the spatial bracelet.
“Hmm?”
“A door?”
