Chapter 677 Four Pillars: Expected Gains
Though he was incredibly elated while reading through the last string of notifications he had received from the kill, in reality, Valyr wasn’t too surprised by it.
Ever since he had made up his mind in forging a gun, a few memories from his past life had long surfaced in his mind, reminding him of the rewards that the player who had done it first received after doing more or less the same thing he had just done.
All in all, the player had received three rewards from it.
The first one among those three was the title ‘Herald of the New Era’.
Interpreting the title in other words, it meant that the player was the sign that a new era was about to begin.
After all, in a planet where the level of technology had only reached the precipice of the Early Middle Ages at best, a gun was akin to magic itself.
Though the gun that player had created wasn’t all that advanced like Valyr’s arquebus, it was still something that only began to become more commonplace by the end of the Early Middle Ages.
With that, although it did boost some of the user’s stats to a decent degree, the title ultimately had something more to do with technology.
Specifically, Technology Points.

Effects:
> +8% boost to INT, WIS, and PER
> -30% cost in all purchases concerning Technology Points
> +100% boost in efficacy of Technology Points

Taking a look at the title’s effects, Valyr softly smiled. ‘With the knowledge I’m gaining regarding the remaining technological eras that bar me from reaching the modern age of technology through the Triad Gates…’
‘I’m pretty sure it won’t take long for me to make use of all of this once I leave the inheritance.’
With the infusions of knowledge he had received from the Trial of Myriad Aberrations and the Gates of Enlightenment’s Blacksmith Knowledge Repository, the cost needed for him to unlock advancements up to the Renaissance Age had been significantly reduced.
But, with the title’s effects, especially its effect to make a single Technology Point effectively be two points for him, he had a feeling that he would only spend around a dozen Technology Points to unlock and max an advancement.
Perhaps, a hundred Technology Points at most.
‘Let’s move onto the next one.’ Aside from the ‘Herald of the New Era’ title, the player from back then had also received another title due to the fact that they were the first one in the planet to fire a gun.
Because of that, the second title was aptly named ‘The First Gunslinger’.
Unlike the first title, ‘The First Gunslinger’ was more focused on enhancing the player’s ability in combat.
Specifically, the player’s ability to use guns in combat.

The firearm is considered to be… description has been omitted.
Effects:
> +5% boost to VIT, STR, DEX, and PER
> +10% boost to Attack
> +30% damage to all attacks dealt by a firearm
> +30% reduction in loading time for all firearms

Bringing up the effects of the title in front of him, Valyr was soon reminded of the multiple other titles and skills he had in his arsenal.
Similar to ‘The First Gunslinger’, those titles and skills also improved his stats, his Attack stat, as well as the amount of damage he could deal through a certain weapon or fighting style.
However, unlike those things, ‘The First Gunslinger’ also reduced the amount of time it took for him to load a shot.
What did that mean?
That meant that, rather than take 15 seconds to load up his arquebus to fire the shot that killed the quadrant leader…
It would have only taken him around 10 seconds to fire the shot instead.
In a life and death battle, a single second was enough of a difference to see if one would live to tell the tale…
Or to be yet another one of the corpses scattered across the battlefield.
‘And now, the last one.’ As for the final reward the player had obtained for being the first to fire a gun at something and kill it, unlike the first two, it was something that would drastically change one’s journey as a player in Greater Beyond.
After all, it was something that allowed one to move past being an ordinary player to being an existence known by many at the top rankings.
In fact, the player had made great use of this reward, becoming one of the only few players on the rankings to use guns as a main combat style.
Naturally, only a class would be able to achieve something like that, with the third reward being an opportunity to gain Veldanyr’s first ever gunslinger class.

Bringing up the description of the class quest in front of his vision, Valyr raised his eyebrows in curiosity as he read through the things he had to complete.
‘The objectives aren’t really all that hard, to be honest,’ thought Valyr to himself.
‘However, if I complete it, the class I would gain from this quest would replace the current class I have.’
‘And not only that, my fighting style would mostly be limited to guns.’
‘Though it is undoubtedly a hard decision to make…’ Furrowing his brows for a bit, Valyr let out a sigh.
‘I’ll have to pass.’

Looking at the notification he had received from the system due to his actions, Valyr could not help but feel a twinge at regret as he looked at it.
However, after letting out yet another sigh, the regretful feeling he felt slowly disappeared as he decided to move onto the last notification on his list.
‘To be honest, I was only expecting to obtain the first three things,’ thought the young man as he brought up the description of the last reward he had gotten from killing the quadrant leader.
‘After all, I never thought that a title like this was even possible to obtain.’
Of course…
The young man was talking about none other than the last title he had received.
Apex Hunter.
