Chapter 297 Arves The Instructor
“Sir Ylvarβ¦ is that correct?” Taking note of the name Valyr had uttered, the attendant behind the counter asked Valyr to make sure that the name she had written down was correct. In response, Valyr briefly nodded, prompting the attendant to nod back as she interacted a bit more with the thin tablet she was holding.
Eventually, the attendant kept the thin tablet under the counter as she beckoned Valyr to follow her while she made his way towards the back. “Alright, I’ve just been informed that the instructor that will aid you with your request is already making their way to one of the guild’s rooms. Please follow me, Sir Ylvar.”
Nodding in response, Valyr hastily caught up to the attendant before reducing his speed to what it was previously, taking in the sights that greeted him the deeper they went into the Spearman Guild.
Though Valyr felt that the interior design of the Spearman Guild was more or less similar to how the Blacksmith Guild back in Danyhris Town looked, after looking at the decorations and motifs scattered all over the walls and ceiling, this feeling was gradually replaced with slight awe, realizing that there was an added layer of intricacy and complexity to the designs.
‘Then again, I probably wouldn’t have noticed this if it weren’t for my high PER stat.’ As this thought popped up in his mind, Valyr continued to occupy himself by checking for differences between the Spearman Guild’s interior and the Blacksmith Guild branch’s interior while making sure that he was still following the attendant in front of him.
“We’ve arrived.” Eventually, the attendant stopped in front of a certain door within one of the guild’s expansive corridors, prompting Valyr to return his focus back on the attendant as he stopped not long after. Taking a look at the door before them, Valyr then shifted his gaze to the attendant beside him, who looked back at him before saying, “The instructor that will aid you with your request is just beyond this door.”
“I shall now take my leave.” After that, the attendant politely bowed towards Valyr, to which Valyr thanked the attendant for her help as she eventually disappeared from his field of vision.
Staring off in the direction as to where the attendant went for a while, Valyr eventually returned his attention to the door in front of him before opening it, instantly being greeted by the sight of a large room with a man in his prime sitting cross-legged at the room’s center with his eyes closed.
Just as he wondered if the attendant had made a mistake and that he had inadvertently interrupted a person’s meditation, the man at the center opened one of his eyes before voicing out a question to Valyr. “Are you the one who put in a request to take up the Spearman class as a subclass?”
“Ah, yes.” Nodding in response, the previous thoughts that littered his mind quickly disappeared into thin air as he went deeper into the room, closing the door behind him. In the meantime, the man at the center took in a deep breath before slowly getting up, making a faint noise as he did a few stretches with his body.
Taking a closer look at the man that was going to help him obtain his dream subclass, Valyr instantly felt a bit of deja vu as he looked at the man, specifically the man’s short dark blue hair. For some reason, he was reminded of a certain person that he had met in the past, though he was unsure as to who that might be.
Fortunately, it did not take long for a name to surface in his mind as his eyes briefly widened in realization.
With the name of the person he was reminded of secured in his mind, Valyr decided to wait and see if the man was related to the person he was thinking of.
“Well, before we start, let me introduce myself,” said the man as he beamed a smile towards Valyr. “The name’s Arves Stelyra, a member of Stelyra Clan’s Astella City branch, as well as the eldest son of Aster Stelyra, the leader of Astella City’s Stelyra clan.”
“Pleasantries aside, I’ll be the one helping you obtain the Spearman class as a subclass, so it’ll be nice if we could work well from here on out.” While listening to Arves’ introduction, Valyr inwardly let out a loud cackle, astonished that the feeling he got was actually correct.ππ±πxt.πΈπ¬π
“If I may ask, do you happen to know who Arcenne Stelyra is?” Expecting that the man he was going to help would reciprocate what he had done by introducing himself to him, Arves instead received a question from the man he was going to help, a question that made him raise his eyebrow in suspicion.
“That would be my younger sister,” replied Arves in a solemn tone. “Did something happen to her?”
“I did not mean to alarm you.” Realizing that his question could be interpreted in a different way, Valyr quickly assured Arves that he did not mean any harm with his words. “I just wanted to ask you about it since I’ve met her and Marquis Stelyra back in Clossbay City.”
“Father is in Clossbay City?” With a look of incredulity on his face, Arves brought up a screen in front of him before interacting with it for a bit. Though what Valyr could see on Arves’ screen was distorted from his perspective, he was certain that the man had contacted Aster to make sure if his words were true.
Unsurprisingly, it did not take long for him to receive a response, causing Arves to look back at Valyr with greater incredulity on his face. “Is there any reason why you’ve decided to tell me about this?”
“No apparent reason.” Valyr shrugged his shoulders. “I just had a hunch that you and Arcenne were related from the color of your hair. I’m surprised I was even correct.”
“Is that so? Either way, that’s not important for now.” Though Arves was now confused after Valyr informed him of the reason behind his action, the former decided to put the matter at the back of his head for now as he quickly focused on what he was meant to do.
“Ylvar, was it?”
“Let us begin the test to see if you are worthy of the Spearman subclass.”
