Chapter 1644: Breaking Barriers: The Final Haul (1)

Whoosh!

Dispelling the time dilation barrier, as well as the pedestals that made up the final trial of the inheritance, a slight smile adorned Aeramis’ face as he returned the clearing to how it looked before all of the trials even began.

Seeing the terrain being returned to the way it was before, the young man inwardly thought that the rewards he earned from reaching the end of the inheritance would be given in the same spot he took it.

Yet, just before he could even ask the man if that were the case…

Swoosh!

Without much warning, Aeramis went ahead and swept the two of them up on a platform made out of pure energy, only to then whiz back to the beginning of the inheritance soon after.

Thud.

With the man dispelling the platform under them, the young man went ahead and safely landed on the ground using a short burst of energy, letting out a faint sigh of relief soon after while still feeling the adrenaline coursing through his veins.

Taking a bit of time to calm both his nerves and his thoughts down, Ataraxia soon looked around their current surroundings, feeling a slight nostalgia from the area the moment he took note of the cloudy floor beneath them.

Briefly glancing at the three paths he chose from at the start of the inheritance, the young man eventually shifted his attention towards Aeramis.

“I’m sure you have a couple of questions as to why I’ve brought you back here.” Certain that he had Ataraxia’s full attention, the man went ahead and began to explain the current situation to the former.

“To answer those queries, it’s actually quite simple,” said the man soon after, slightly shrugging. “For one, the entrance to the inheritance also serves as the exit.”

“Aside from that, though the place where I tested your abilities are undoubtedly more lifelike when compared to the place we’re currently in, the fact that this area only has the bare minimum means that I’ve devoted more of my own energy towards something else.”

“Of course, I’m certain you already know what I’m hinting at.”

Hearing those words, the young man nodded in response, the slight confusion that flitted across his eyes earlier now replaced with a mix of anticipation and excitement.

Letting out a chuckle in response to the look Ataraxia was giving him, Aeramis went ahead and summoned a great amount of energy into the area they were in, causing the land to quake in response.

Rumble…

“Considering that your performance in all five trials is undoubtedly the greatest any inheritor has achieved while tackling my inheritance, it goes without saying that I shall bestow upon you the greatest rewards I can.”

“Even more so after you’ve shown yourself capable of trekking the hardest path of the inheritance.”

Fwoosh!

Having the energy he summoned condense into a massive ball that hovered in the air, the man went ahead and cut a small portion of it as he proceeded to bring up a screen in front of him.

“For your first reward, it would be none other than the final upgrade to the title I’ve given you,” said Aeramis, quickly finalizing the changes after tapping a few more buttons on the screen he brought up.

Ding!

Hearing the system go off in his mind the moment the man was done talking, Ataraxia went ahead and brought up a notification screen in his mind, quickly confirming that the Extended Title had indeed been upgraded after clearing the fifth trial to its limit.

However, just as he was about to take a look at the difference between the previous and current version of the title…

“As for your second reward, it is also a title,” said Aeramis all of a sudden, causing the young man to pause for a bit in surprise. “In fact, your third and fourth reward are titles as well.”

“Eh?” At that point, Ataraxia looked at the man with his eyes greatly widened in both shock and disbelief.

After all, with how simple the entire inheritance was, the young man was only expecting to obtain around two titles out of it at most, which already included the Extended Title he obtained.

Yet, from what the man was telling him, he was possibly going to obtain four titles out of it?!

Just as the young man had finally wrapped his head around the situation and was about to ask Aeramis the reason behind giving him so much titles at once, the latter had gone ahead and sent those respective rewards over to the young man.

Whoosh!

Unsurprisingly, after receiving those titles en masse, the young man swiftly felt his combat strength reach greater heights, sensing that the energies coursing through his veins were far more powerful than before.

Thankfully, with a few calculated movements here and there, Ataraxia was eventually able to adjust to this higher level of strength, immediately getting the feeling that his current level of strength had exceeded the level his other self had reached.

“To shed some more light on the rewards I’ve given you, the second reward is a title that’s based on your performance during the entire inheritance,” explained Aeramis, which prompted the young man to pay more attention to the former’s next words.

“As for the third reward, it is a title that’s based on the outcome of the fifth trial.”

At those words, the man gave him a slightly wry smile. “Considering how you’ve reached the level of assimilation on all the pedestals you’ve chosen, I guess it should come as no surprise that the title you obtained because of it is quite powerful.”

“With that being said, the fourth reward is actually not a new title, but instead another upgrade to a title I’ve already given you.”

Giving the young man time to process the words that left his mouth, the smile on Aeramis soon turned into a slight grin as he told him, “Of course, there’s only one title among the three that fits that criteria, no?”

Feeling a sense of trepidation and anticipation towards the man’s words, Ataraxia forced himself to take in a deep breath, finally taking a look at the notifications he received in greater detail.
