Chapter 1588: A New Path

Chapter 1588: A New Path

Whoosh!

Just as the young man was caught off guard by the fact that the man knew his name, Ataraxia’s attention was immediately attracted by the sight of the three paths before them moving to the side.

Swoosh!

After waiting for a couple of seconds, a path similar to the three swiftly manifested at the space the three paths had made, only for a wooden sign containing the words ’Shattering Space’ to manifest in front of it not long after that.

Knowing that the young man in front of him would ask for more information on the new path he brought out, the man took it upon himself to give Ataraxia an explanation on it in advance.

“You can consider the path of Shattering Space as the path that leads you to the true inheritance,” said the man, looking at Ataraxia with a solemn expression.

“Though its trials are far more treacherous than even the trials I’ve arranged in the path of Breaking Barriers, make no mistake that the greater hardships shall yield even greater rewards…”

“…For the rewards are none other than the abilities I’ve honed and polished throughout my journey to the pinnacle.”

Giving the young man a brief moment to process what he just said, the man eventually continued with his explanation. “Ever since I was a young boy, the fact that the world had so much to offer greatly intrigued me.”

“For quite some time, my dream was to explore everything the world beneath my feet had to offer.” The man had a reminiscing smile on his face. “Whether it was the tallest mountains or the deepest depths of the oceans, I wanted to see all of that for myself.”

“And thus I made it my goal.”

After saying those words, the man proceeded to do a full-on monologue on how he was eventually able to achieve that goal of his.

Making use of the knowledge that was readily available, as well as the intuition and inherent talent he had towards movement, the man eventually found himself being able to step on those tall peaks himself, achieving one of the lifelong goals he had set.

Of course, with him being able to cross the world’s tallest peaks with ease, it did not take long for him to also achieve the goal of exploring the oceans’ deepest depths, allowing him to fully achieve the goal he had given himself.

However, rather than be satisfied with what he had done, the man began to aim for greater heights, wondering if it was possible to visit places in the world that no normal person would be able to visit.

Though the man did also end up achieving this goal at some point, the man’s goals of exploring what the world had to offer eventually morphed into something greater because of it.

What was originally a goal that allowed him to fully appreciate the world he was born in… slowly turned into a goal that unknowingly pushed him towards the world of the strong and the elite.

That was because the goal made him wonder… was it possible to arrive at any point in the world at any time he wanted?

And thus, with the new goal of wanting to achieve a partial sense of omnipresence, the man slowly broke away from the heavy shackles of mortality, ascending to a higher realm that allowed him to tap into the powers of the universe’s nomological truths.

Armed with greater concepts and abilities that wouldn’t be accessible to mortal beings, the man gradually made a name for himself, becoming known by many as a being that appeared whenever his name was mentioned.

Though, not only had he become known for his ability to appear at the mere mention of his name, but he had also become known for his superb ability to escape any bindings thrown his way.

“Because of my nigh-impossible feats, I was eventually given a title that had become prominent throughout my peers,” the man told Ataraxia, letting out a faint sigh as he briefly closed his eyes.

“On that day, the man that used to be known as Aeramis… had instead become known as the Fleet-footed Monarch.”

’…Ain’t no way.’

Although he’d been respectfully listening to the story the man shared with him all this time, once the man mentioned the title he was known for, Ataraxia could not help but start looking at the man in a different light.

After all, from what he could recall, there were a handful of beings recognized by both players and NPCs alike in his past life as the strongest beings below the Divine level.

Considering how fast and adaptive players were when it came to strengthening themselves, it was no surprise that a number of players had made a name for themselves with this recognition, gaining various titles and monikers that embodied a facet of their abilities.

Then again, even though players made up the majority of these recognized beings, the being that was noted as number one among them was actually none other than the Fleet-footed Monarch.

However, the reason why he was chosen to be the representative of such beings wasn’t because of his superb prowess with movement.

Instead, it was thanks to his heaven-defying abilities to escape any trap or binding sent his way, with even spatial and temporal prisons only offering a small challenge to the man when it came to him reclaiming his freedom.

With this ability of his attracting the attention of Half Deities and Lesser Deities, the man eventually received another title that had been accepted by many, focusing on his ability to escape death… even in situations where it seemed like it was the inevitable conclusion.

The Undying Ancient Monarch.

“My sincerest apologies.” Seeing as he had gone off on a tangent without him knowing, Aeramis looked at the young man with an apologetic smile. “It’s been a while since I’ve gotten the opportunity to talk with someone about my life for so long.”

Letting out a faint cough, the man’s expression returned to its prior calm. “In any case, even if you only obtain the minimum rate to pass all of Shattering Space’s trials, the ability you’ll obtain out of it would be leagues ahead of even the greatest reward the path of Breaking Barriers could offer you.”

“Let alone the oceans that separate continents, even the vacuum of space shall become a trifling matter if you were to decide to head to a different planet.”

“In fact, if you factor in the other abilities you obtain from clearing its trials, even exploring stellar systems would only be a matter of time.”

“With that being said…” Giving Ataraxia a bit of time to mull over his words, the man wrapped up his explanation.

“With the option of choosing the path of Shattering Space having become available to you…”

“Which of the four paths shall you end up choosing?”
