Chapter 1288 Gains and Losses
“…And I guess that’s everything.”
Watching the others go through the various drops with slight excitement on their faces, Valyr began to faintly smile as he thought about how quick the four bounced back from what happened earlier.
Though, that smile quickly turned crooked after catching some of them stealing wary glances at him from time to time, reminding the young man that they had all right to be suspicious of him.
After all, he only showed his true strength after Darklight began to threaten the others with their lives.
“In total, the boss dropped 7 items,” said SeventhShield after having everyone gather around him.
Briefly glancing at Valyr after that, the man faintly nodded at him as he continued, “Aside from that, the items Darklight gave Ataraxia and dropped after his death are also up for grabs.”
“…Are you really fine with it, Ataraxia?”
“I already told you earlier.” Valyr shrugged at the question. “I can’t use any of them, nor do I have plans to use any of them. After all, I’m planning to ascend as a mage. His armor set leans more towards DEX-based classes.”
As those words left his mouth, the young man felt that he was able to alleviate all of the worries the others had about him and the items.
However, after taking a glance at Lycana and the others, he quickly found out that most of them still acted somewhat tense around him, prompting him to inwardly let out a sigh as he faintly shook his head.
“Then again… if you guys are fine with it, then I’d like to take the potions he dropped. They’re better than the ones I currently have, actually,” said Valyr after mulling over their reactions for a bit, scratching the back of his head in the process.
Fortunately, those words were what the others needed for them to finally relax, with some of them visibly letting out sighs of relief before looking at Valyr with faint smiles on their faces.
With that, although he didn’t really have much use for the potions Darklight used to have on him, the young man still thanked the others as he stored the items in his spatial bracelet.
Of course, he continued to reassure the others that he had no plans to betray them while doing so.
“Alright.” Seeing that most, if not all of the tension that wrapped around everyone had disappeared, SeventhShield gave Valyr a look of gratitude before proceeding to go over all of the items they received from the boss room.
Unsurprisingly, with the boss drops requiring one to be Level 20 or higher, it went without saying that most of them were taken by SeventhShield and the group.
Though, with how the final boss of the dungeon was a mage, Uzume ended up becoming the one who gained the most from the boss room, taking a total of three items that allowed her firepower to take yet another step higher.
As for the remaining four items the boss dropped, one of each were taken by the other three, while Valyr asked the others if he could take the final item the boss got.
Naturally, the reason why he decided to call dibs on the final item was the fact that it was none other than more Fragments of Persistence.
And thus, with Valyr getting more Fragments of Persistence, and the others promising to give Valyr money in exchange for the drops they got from the boss, the entire group then moved onto the items Darklight gave them before and after his untimely death.
“I’ve already said it a while ago, but his armor set is well-suited for DEX-based classes.” Considering the fact that the wariness the others felt towards him earlier had more or less disappeared, Valyr decided to take the initiative to introduce the items to the others.
“With that being said, there’s only one person in this group who fits that criterion.” Enjoy new adventures at empire
“…Me?” Seeing that the young man was directly staring at him, Zack pointed back at himself before looking back at Valyr with slight confusion. “You sure?”
“I’m definitely sure,” replied the young man with a chuckle before giving the man a knowing smile. “I already saw you looking at the set earlier with sparkles in your eyes.”
“Don’t be shy. You want it, no?”
Hearing those words, Zack felt his face turn red as he looked down in slight embarrassment.
Then, turning to look at SeventhShield and the others, the man felt his face become hotter as they gave him knowing smiles of their own.
Though, seeing that none of them had any problems with him keeping the armor set Darklight used to own, Zack was eventually able to muster up the courage to grab the set for himself, thanking Valyr and the others in the process.
“Oh yeah…” Whilst swapping his current set of armor for the one Darklight used to wear, Zack suddenly had a question for Valyr. “Wouldn’t wearing this armor paint a target on my back or something?”
“It definitely would.” Valyr didn’t beat around the bush with his response, causing Zack’s complexion to slightly pale. “You’ve seen it for yourself. Its rarity isn’t something you can get in this village that easily.”
“However, most, if not all of his attention would still be on me,” added the young man not long after, his expression exuding confidence.
“After all, with how much I tormented him before deciding to ‘go back on my words’, I’m sure he’ll do everything in his power to make my life a living hell.”
“Er…” Though the young man’s words unnerved him to a certain extent, SeventhShield allowed the curiosity he had from earlier to take center stage. “This might be a sensitive question, and you’re free to not answer it, but…”
“How exactly did you beat the boss in one hit?”
At those words, Zack and the others nodded in agreement, hoping that Valyr would enlighten them as they looked at him in curiosity.
“Oh, that’s simple,” replied the young man with a bit of laughter. “Identify me with [Analysis] and you’ll get your answer.”
“[Analysis]?” Although he looked at Valyr with slight skepticism in response, SeventhShield decided to listen to the young man’s words in the end.
“Surely you’re not telling us the reason you beat him is with high stats… right?”
“…”
“…”
“…Well, damn.”
“I stand sorely corrected.”
