Making sure to follow up on her words, the young woman quickly went ahead and gave Valyr a more detailed explanation of what she was talking about after that, giving the young man a foundation of sorts first before continuing with the more complex concepts.
Fortunately, the change in approach was more than enough for the young man to adjust, easily understanding all of the concepts the young woman was throwing at him as more and more time passed.
With the help of a few examples here and there, as well as a few additional explanations that gave more context to the first explanation she gave beforehand, it did not take long for Valyr to finally understand what she was talking about.
“So…” Closing his eyes for a bit as he went over everything he learned from the young woman once more in his mind, Valyr looked back at the young woman before summarizing everything she told him so far.
“If I’m getting this correctly, the universe Earth is in, and the universe the world of Greater Beyond is set in are two completely separate universes.”
“That is correct.” The young woman nodded.
“And the way you allow people from Earth to enter the universe we’re in is with the help of magic,” continued Valyr as he faintly nodded back. “Specifically, a pretty complex transfer magic that only you and a few other people have the ability and authority to cast.”
“Also correct.”
“However, although the transfer magic is effective and can be used to return the consciousnesses back to where they were, due to how complex it is, you would need to set an anchor point first on the other universe.”
“Which is why we condense a bit of the electricity in the machines your people use to play games into plasma before converting it into something like mana to conjure it,” replied the young woman, inwardly glad that her words were finally getting through to the young man.
“And this anchor point is conjured during the login phase of the game?” asked Valyr for clarification, to which the young woman nodded in response.
Nodding back at her words, Valyr went silent for a bit as he mulled over everything he said just now. “Everything up to that point makes sense, but I still find it weird that the nauseous feeling we get only occurs during the first login.”
“Don’t think too hard on it.” The young woman faintly chuckled at those words. “Think of it from the perspective of teleportation constructs.”
“Teleportation constructs…?” As he muttered these words to himself, Valyr felt as if he had finally found the piece that connected all of his thoughts together, allowing everything to click into place.
“I see now,” said the young man after his moment of realization. “Basically, with how often our consciousnesses get transferred to the world of Greater Beyond, we gain more resistance to the sensation, just like how one gets used to being teleported around.”
“Exactly.” The young woman nodded in agreement. “Of course, we could’ve added a few extra bits here and there to make sure your consciousnesses wouldn’t feel any vertigo or nausea whatsoever, but that would increase the cost on your side of the universe.”
“How much of an increase would it be, though?” asked the young man in curiosity.
“Enough to turn your machines into one-time use items,” replied the young woman, which made Valyr suck in a cold breath of air in response. “After all, the conversion from plasma to rough mana isn’t really one to one. It’s more like a 10 to 1.”
“In any case, you finally believe me when I say that the two are in completely different universes, right?”
“Yeah.” Valyr faintly nodded. “The examples you’ve given me were more than enough to let me experience it firsthand.”
Considering that the rift the young woman conjured to show the Eiffel Tower was more than enough to elicit a feeling of imminent death into the young woman, the young woman merely opted to more of it for the young man, giving him enough time to understand what was actually going on.
At the same time, she allowed Valyr to move closer towards the rifts, giving him opportunity to ascertain that she was truly letting him enter Earth through the rift and not merely showing him a mirage that looked like it.
Through there, he found out that if someone like him from one universe were to enter another one, the second universe would immediately attempt to remove him from their universe through two methods.
The first method would involve the expelling of the foreign being back to the universe where they came from. As long as the two universes were close enough to one another, this would be the go-to method of the second universe, with the being that dared to venture into the second universe only temporarily experiencing a feeling of imminent death.
On the other hand, the second method was far harsher, with the foreign being’s existence being rejected entirely by the second universe, eliminating all of the foreign being’s traces before they could even be sent back.
Of course, this would only happen if the two universes were so far apart that the first method couldn’t be used. Considering the proximity of the two universes where Earth and Greater Beyond lied, it was no surprise that the two universes went with the first method.
Aside from that, it wasn’t as if it was impossible for a foreign being to remain on an another universe for an extended period of time.
According to what the young woman told him, as long as one paid a high enough price or expended enough energy, a foreign entity from one universe would be allowed to stay in another universe for quite some time.
Naturally, this made him think about the opportunity Scho’doxa gave him and a few others near the end of the Rise to Prominence tournament.
After all, with the explanation the young woman gave him in regards to cost and whatnot, then it made sense that only a few select people would be able to visit Earth in the future.

Fortunately, a couple of questions was more than enough for him to obtain the answer he sought regarding the matter, with the young woman confirming his thoughts that the visit would pretty much work that way.
Because of that, although he still didn’t have too much of an idea as to who the young woman was and why she went out of the way to explain all of this for him, he at least knew that she was someone he couldn’t mess with.
“I still have a couple more questions regarding the mechanics surrounding the transfer process, but I’ll save those questions for a later time,” said the young man after some time, prompting the young woman to look at him.
“However, what you’ve told me still doesn’t explain the fact that I’m feeling like there are two bodies inside me at the moment.”
“Also, where is Valyr Meyers?” asked the young man not long after, being reminded that only he had appeared within this white room when he woke up. Not a trace of his past self could even be found.
“You know the answer to those questions already,” replied the young woman with a wry smile. “I’ve already told you earlier. I’ve fused the two of you as one. It only feels like you’re two people in one body because of the conflict between your existences.”
“…Then again, it’s not like what you’re feeling is wrong either.”
“What do you mean by that?” replied Valyr, the gears in his mind turning as he pondered over her words.
Taking into consideration what he now understood thanks to her explanation, Valyr now understood the young woman’s words near the beginning of their conversation with immense clarity.
With him being an existence from Greater Beyond’s universe, his existence conflicted with Valyr Meyers, his past self from the universe where Earth resided, causing the uncomfortable feeling he was getting.
However, in terms of their memories, the two of them more or less matched up to the point where they finally met up and interacted with one another, with the only difference between the two of them being the perspective they had at the time.
“Wait…” Mulling over the young woman’s words for a bit more, an outlandish thought soon surfaced within the young man’s mind, causing him to look at her with a bit of fear in his eyes.
After all, wouldn’t an approach like that be a bit too much when compared to what they went through?
Yet, as more and more time passed, the more he felt like this outlandish thought of his was the answer he’d been looking for all this time.
Taking in a deep breath to prepare himself for the worst, Valyr eventually shared the thought he had in mind with the young woman. “Are you telling me that… you fused everything?”
Hearing those words, the young woman could only look back at him with a bitter smile.
