Chapter 1217  Behind the Scenes (1)

“…Honestly, I thought it’d take him a few more hours to figure out my intentions.”

“But to think he’s already taken a step on the right track even before anything happens.”

“Quite amazing, really.”

Watching through a screen from a greatly secluded area within his clan, Riekan had a faint smile on his face as he watched Valyr talk with one of his clan members, interrogating them for more information.

Although it might seem like the flint gem he’d given the young man was only imbued with just his aura, as a renowned accessory maker, it went without saying that Riekan added a few more things to the gem, giving it abilities that made it function similarly to a tracker.

In fact, it was because of these additions that made him able to sense the young man the moment he appeared a couple hundred meters away from his clan’s estate, allowing him to follow Valyr’s journey deeper into the Caemelio clan.

From the conversation he had with the group, to the stares he got while they made their way to the insides of the clan, Riekan saw all of that, watching it as if it were a show purely made for entertainment.

But of course, the reason why he added such abilities to the flint gem was not purely just so he could stave his boredom.

“I wonder how long it’ll take for him to figure out what I want him to do?”

Considering how he’d been away from his clan for about 300 years fulfilling his side of a promise with an old friend, it went without saying that the Caemelio clan went through a lot of changes while he was away.

Then again, it was natural, especially with the existence of the pillar that held their clan up in their place stuck in what they thought was a state of limbo.

Because of that, just like Valyr, Riekan was greeted by the existence of the Caemelio clan’s nine factions, briefly making him wonder whether or not he returned to the clan he’d founded over a few centuries ago.

Of course, the reason as to why the nine factions came to be quickly unfolded in front of the man, mostly due to the strength and authority he held not only as its founder, but also as a Legend.

Eventually, he realized the main reason why the clan he founded turned out the way it did, prompting him to start planning out how he’d solve the problem at some point.

Unsurprisingly, that plan involved increasing his strength far beyond what he currently had at the time.

Then again, a part of that plan also involved hiding his return to the entirety of the Caemelio clan, with only his closest family and kin having known that he’d been in their clan the entire time.

For months on end, he focused on improving his strength as much as possible, even going so far as to break through the shackles and ascend to the Myth level.

Though, just as he was about to finally start making progress into completing his plan, the Rise to Prominence tournament came about, forcing him to push the thought to the side for the meantime. After all, with clearing the tournament rewarding him with greater strength, how could he not?

“And then I bumped into him after finishing the fourth round,” muttered Riekan to himself, continuing to watch Valyr question one of his clan’s elders for more information.

Naturally, it went without saying that the man wouldn’t expect a kid he only knew to be at the middle levels of Rank 1 back then to succeed in clearing the fourth round of the tournament.

However, as he began to sense the strength the young man had at the time, as well as the rumors that circulated throughout the tournament related to him, Riekan realized that Valyr had all rights to be there.

Though, at the same time, the gears in his mind began to turn.

“…I’m gonna give it my all to upgrade the accessory I gave him,” said the man to himself with a low sigh, feeling a hint of guilt at the fact that he implicated Valyr into a problem he should’ve solved on his own in the first place.

“Oh? He’s finally done.” Briefly continuing to inwardly admonish himself for his actions, Riekan continued to watch Valyr’s actions through the screen, his expression tranquil as the young man made his way to the clan’s guest area.

Getting the feeling that the young man would only make a move once more sometime later, the man went ahead and conjured a couple of screens around him, allowing him to view what was going on with the factions that made up the Caemelio clan.

“…Eh?” However, not even a few minutes into shifting his attention onto the other screens, a slight change had occurred on the screen focused on Valyr, prompting Riekan to return his attention on it.

Only for his eyes to widen in surprise soon after.

“He’s… going somewhere?” Watching the young man conjure a portal out of thin air all of a sudden, Riekan immediately became slack-jawed the moment he began to feel a familiar type of energy emanating from the portal.

“…It feels quite familiar to the energy the Imperial Alchemist gives off,” muttered the man to himself, the gears in his mind madly turning as he tried to figure out where Valyr had gone all of a sudden.

Fortunately, it did not take long for him to come up with something, realizing that the current situation reminded him of a similar incident he’d gone through back then.

“A concept plane…?”

As this idea came to mind, Riekan’s demeanor shifted in less than an instant, his expression quickly turning serious.

“If he’s really entered a concept plane… then that changes things.”

Without hesitation, he closed all of the screens he brought up just now, only leaving the screen containing Valyr’s last whereabouts intact.

Then, after making sure that the screen would continue to linger even if he were away for days on end, he then conjured a rift that led him exactly to where Valyr previously stood.

“I hope he doesn’t stay in the concept plane for too long.”
