Chapter 1154 The Final Round

1154  The Final Round

Whoosh!

After Scho’doxa transported the last batch of people to where Valyr and the others were, he faintly nodded in satisfaction as he appeared before everyone, hovering high up in the air as he opened his mouth.

“If you were to ask me which round was the harshest in terms of the number of people disqualified, as long as I exclude the first round, the fourth round would be considered the harshest.”

“After all, before the fourth round even began, the number of people on the field was a figure halfway to reaching 3 million,” said Scho’doxa as he swept his gaze over everyone. “Yet, in just three batches, that value dropped to a tenth of a percent of what it originally was, with only over a couple thousand of you remaining.”

“Specifically, 2,564 of you remain on the field after going through the first four rounds of the tournament, with everyone else having already returned to your home planet.” As these words left his mouth, almost everyone on the field turned solemn.

Although everyone knew that they’d fought against 99 people on a platform for a chance to pass the fourth round and reach the final round of the tournament, it was only now did the gravity of that situation sink into the minds of many people.

Of course, there were also those who already understood that would be the case the very moment Scho’doxa explained the mechanics of the fourth round, allowing their expressions to remain the same.

However, that did not stop them from letting out sighs sometime later, finding the entire situation somewhat bittersweet.

Fortunately, just like what happened at the end of the second and third round, the people on the field did not take that long to move on from that matter.

In fact, it took far less time than usual, considering that most of the remaining people on the field had reached their current level of strength by carving out a path of blood in the process.

With that, Scho’doxa faintly nodded in satisfaction as he shifted everyone’s attention to the rewards one would get for clearing the fourth round.

Swoosh!

After giving everyone a brief heads-up that it was now time for him to reward everyone for their valiant efforts, the man immediately swung his arms outward, swiftly sending out bottles that looked more or less similar to what everyone got during the second and third round.

Then again, unlike the bottles in those rounds, the bottle everyone received from clearing the fourth round contained shards that looked like glass at first.

Thankfully, a quick activation of one’s identification skill was more than enough for everyone to find out that the shards were just as special as the other items they received, causing many to erupt in excitement as they imagined the effects of all the items combined.

As he’d gotten the reward for the fourth round beforehand by completing the challenge Scho’doxa gave him, Valyr thought that he wouldn’t be given another set of the shards since he’d already been given a copy.

Yet, contrary to his expectations, the man did not hesitate to send yet another batch of the shards to the young man, causing the latter to wonder whether the effects of the two would stack on top of one another.

While the young man briefly engrossed himself in his own train of thoughts, Scho’doxa went ahead and brought up a screen in front of him after sending out the bottles to everyone.

Ding!

With him tapping on the screen a few times, it did not take long for everyone to receive a notification from the system, with everyone immediately understanding their titles had been upgraded yet again.

Snapping back to reality because of it, Valyr went ahead and opened up his notification screen, easily finding out that his title of [Tier III Being] had been upgraded to [Tier IV Being].

Though he already had a rough idea of what kind of upgrade the new title brought after experiencing it two times, the young man still went ahead and commanded the system to bring up its description.

At the same time, Scho’doxa said something to everyone on the field as they continued to admire their newly upgraded titles. “Just so you know, to be classified as a Tier IV being means that you’re now part of the planet’s most elite.”

“Of course, the reason why I could confidently say something like that is because of the strength you all wield. The strength you all wield allows you to stand far above your peers while also possibly matching the strengths from those at higher ranks,” added the man, briefly glancing at Valyr before continuing.

“Naturally, with there being five rounds to this tournament, there still exists one last rank above the current one you all have, signifying that your strength stands at the pinnacle of your planet.”

“As to how you’ll obtain that rank during the fifth round…” Intentionally talking in a mysterious tone, Scho’doxa let out a soft chuckle. “I suppose it’d be best to talk about it only after all of you have gotten sufficient rest.”

At those words, the man gave everyone a heads-up that they all had a few hours to rest before the fifth round began, disappearing in front of everyone’s field of view before everyone could get the chance to ask him what he meant by his earlier words.

“Guess we’ll only find out after the few hours of rest are up.” Donning a bitter smile as Scho’doxa disappeared in front of them all of a sudden, Riekan turned around to look at Valyr.

“That may be the case.” Valyr nodded as he slightly shrugged. “But honestly, I think I have a rough idea of what the fifth round would be, especially with how the past four rounds turned out.”

Raising his eyebrow in curiosity, it went without saying that the man asked Valyr after that, prompting the latter to briefly explain the possibilities he came up with after taking the entire tournament so far into consideration.

Coincidentally, Mystia took notice of Valyr’s presence just as he was in the midst of explaining his train of thought to Riekan.

Making his way to where he was, the woman was left at a slight loss for words when she realized that Valyr was casually talking to none other than the main head of the well-renowned Caemelio clan.

At the same time, Riekan’s eyes widened in disbelief once he realized that the Imperial Alchemist of the Meltierre Heavenly Court came up to greet Valyr, causing him to do a double take as he looked at the young man once more.

Unsurprisingly, the young man was oblivious to the thoughts that were in both minds, continuing to explain the speculations and thoughts he had regarding the final round of the tournament with Riekan and Mystia.

After Valyr laid out almost every possible way they could look at the tournament’s final round to the two, the three proceeded to spend the remainder of their rest time talking about various topics.

Though, with how Riekan and Mystia both occupied positions of high power and authority, it was no surprise that the topic of their conversation eventually shifted towards the ongoing war against the orcs.

Fortunately, the two did not delve into the topic for that long as Scho’doxa appeared in front of everyone a minute or so later after time was up.
