Chapter 624 A Break
( War Log – Day 50 )
On the day 50 of the great war, the first light faction disc raid was finally triggered.
The disc raid was activated over the demon sovereign astarte’s disc and the responsibility of this raid was upon the angels.
Clad in shimmering white armour, their army, although small in number, was the personification of the universe’s strongest warriors.
Led personally by Micheal, Sariel and Raphae, the three brothers of Lucifer, their march was unstoppable.
Rudra, who had never personally witnessed the angels in action enjoyed the full war from a distance and was amazed at how easy the angels made the fight seem.
Right from the get-go Raphael unleashed 2 tier7 AOE attacks that decimated the demon front-lines, whereas Sariel and Micheal made the fight against Astarte look easy.
1 hour and 45 minutes later, with a loss of not more than 100,000 angel lives, Astarte, his army and his disc were all obliterated by the angels, pulling the war score back at 1-1.
Unlike the raid of the sovereign Kane which was a close call and where the Forger king made it out alive, this raid was a comprehensive victory for the angels where the opposing sovereign lost his life.
With this win, it could be said that the light faction had taken the lead in this war and were now in a better position than the dark faction.

( Meanwhile Max )
Following the Angels Victory, Max knew that there was a breathing room for him where there was nothing extremely important to do until the next disc raid was triggered.
Since it was time to bring the next conscription of warriors to the battlefield from the training programme, Max decided that he could go back to the real world for a couple of days to spend time with Asiva and come back to the battlefield with the next tranche of recruits.
His proposal for leave was quickly accepted by the Aurelius clan and making the most of it Max quickly went back to the real world.
Only when Max stepped into the hustle and bustle of Dombivli City did he realise just how blessed the people of this city truly were.
In the war camp, every moment had been charged with tension and anticipation.
·?θm The air had been thick with the scent of metal, earth, and sweat, punctuated by the sporadic echoes of distant clashes or the calls of a nighttime guard.
Even in periods of rest, there had been an underlying urgency, a palpable sense of purpose. Soldiers were honed into a singular, cohesive unit, their daily life dictated by drills, strategy meetings, and the relentless demands of maintaining a warfront.
Individual freedoms were often overshadowed by the need for collective discipline and duty. Uncertainty cast a large shadow, making each moment precious yet fraught.
In contrast, civilian life in Dombivli was characterised by a different kind of rhythm.
The routine of daily life, marked by the consistent patterns of work, recreation, and personal interactions, created a sense of predictable normality.
The atmosphere was imbued with a blend of tranquillity and liveliness: the peaceful rustle of trees, the merry chatter of children playing, the busy streets full of vendors and shoppers, the serene evenings where families gathered.
Here, there was room for individual dreams, ambitions, and the freedom to pursue personal happiness. Even amidst the challenges of civil life, there was a comforting predictability and a freedom that life in the war camp lacked.
As the lord of Dombivli, Max felt a deep sense of gratitude and contentment. He strolled through the bustling streets, observing the faces of his people – faces brimming with life, untouched by the shadow of war.
He saw children playing, merchants laughing, lovers whispering sweet nothings, elderly folks sharing tales of the past – and he had felt an overwhelming sense of pride.
The sounds of laughter and lively chatter had been a soothing balm to his war-worn heart.
The peace and vibrancy of Dombivli stood as a testament to his leadership.
His careful stewardship had ensured a safe haven for his people. Each smile, each bout of laughter, was a victory in itself, a beacon of light shining bright against the backdrop of the chaos he had left behind. Max had not just been a commander in a distant war, but a guardian of these streets, these people, this way of life.
Max did not realise how much he needed to experience this atmosphere to calm down.
He could never really relax back in the battlefield, his senses were always on the edge and it had taken a toll on his body.
Seeing the city and his citizens today, Max refound the purpose behind his fight.
It was exactly this way of life that he was fighting to protect. A way of life that was marked by civil order where everyone had a shot at joy.
If the dark faction was to win and this way of life was replaced by a dog eat dog world ruled by strength only, then there would be no laughter, no kindness, no elderly.
There would only be oppression and depression.
As Max reached the palace gates, the guards gave him the biggest salute and were about to make a ruckus when Max silenced them and made a sneaky entry.
His destination was the prime minister’s office where he was sure Asiva would be working really hard, which was why he wanted to give her a surprise.
Standing outside her office, Max knocked on the door twice as he heard a heavy voice say ” Come in ”
Max rolled his eyes, he knew this was Asiva’s intimidation voice which she used with strangers to make them think she was stern and dangerous.
Max knocked twice again although he had clearly heard Asiva say come in as he purposefully tried to irritate her.
” I said come in ” Asiva said again giving the party outside the door the benefit of the doubt that he/she could maybe not have heard her the first time around. 𝐨𝘃𝗹.
The third time that Max knocked, however, Asiva came charging out of the door at a speed that Max had never thought she was capable of as with a short sword in hand she looked like a master assassin.
She gripped his hand and tried to twist it when she realised who it was and paused, however, Max clearly felt the strength in her grip as his eyes widened in disbelief.
” Max – ” Asiva said softly as she buried her head in his chest and hugged him tightly, the dagger dropping from her hand as it made a clunking sound on the ground.
Max hugged her back, but also inspected his own forearm and saw her finger marks clearly imprinted on his skin which should have been impossible considering the power difference between the duo.
Another alarming difference was her hair, which used to be Hazel brown but now had strands of silver inside them.
For some reason, Max felt like the love of his life had undergone a race change just like he did when he became a primordial vampire.
It was a big deal and it seemed like he was not the only one with stories at this reunion, his girlfriend seemed to have a solid one of her own.
