Chapter 554 - The Lost Item

Chapter 554: The Lost Item

After picking up Hidden Lurker’s item, he opened up the description.

Atlanta’s Key: Rare

Function: Unknown

“F*ck!”

Looking at this broken plaything’s description, everyone was disappointed. They initially thought it was some good item but it was actually a rubbish with an unknown function.

In <<REBIRTH>>, items with unknown function required the players to explore and find out by themselves. Ever since the game started, there had been countless items with unknown function. Players spent large amount of time and gold only to find out that it was for a rubbish grade item. While it was also possible to attain a peak grade item, the majority of such items turned out to be rubbish.

“F*ck! This despicable man!” Vainglory was so angry he was going to throw the key away.

Fearless stopped Vainglory and said, “Why are you throwing it away…”

“What is the point of keeping a plaything like this?” Vainglory held onto the key as he said in embarrassment.

Fearless chuckled, “Do you not know what kind of person Hidden Lurker is? Why would he carry a rubbish around with him?”

“Oh…” Vainglory calmed down when he heard this. Hidden Lurker was an eccentric fella who never carry useless items or bring around useless people. Since this key came from Hidden Lurker, it must not be a rubbish. At the very least, Hidden Lurker was aware of the origins of this key.

“But this plaything didn’t even have a description. Don’t tell me I have to go to every home city to ask the NPC about it?” Vainglory asked.

Ordinary unknown items would usually have a brief description so the players would know where they could look for clues. However, this key had no description or clues at all.

Fearless replied faintly, “Who cares? Just keep it for now. When we have time, we can look into it.”

As they spoke, Yang Nuo had already shrugged off the guards and returned. When Wang Yu saw Yang Nuo’s return, he quickly put on a face flannel.

When NPC guards chase after targets with less than 10 PK points, the aggro would disappear the moment the target left the line of sight and they would all return to their home cities. However, after Wang Yu killed Thunderlord Block, his PK points reached 10. If he didn’t put on the face flannel, it might not take long for the guards to start chasing after him again.

Yang Nuo returned to the squad and the Quan Zhen Sect boarded the airship back home, leaving behind a quiet Sky Dragon City.

“Are those guards gone?”

After a long while, players from Sky Dragon City started to ask around for news on the streets.

“Yes, they are gone.” The players heaved a sigh of relief when they saw that the guards went back to their normal states.

“Oh god! That was really scary! How did this happen? Was there something wrong with the system?”

“Who knows? I’m just going to avoid all guards from now on…”

Discussions were all around the city and there was an incredible number of players at the resurrection point.

After being killed by the system guards for no reason, everyone dared not step out of the resurrection point. The resurrection point was fully filled with people. Some short tempered players had already logged off to complain on the internet. Hidden Lurker, who was also at the resurrection point, started spreading rumours again, “That fella’s name is Iron Bull. He used a plug-in software. Everyone, go report him now!”

As for Wang Yu, Hidden Lurker no longer dared to fight him ever again. All he could do was to spread false rumours to deal with a BUG player like Wang Yu. Even if he was unable to ban Wang Yu from the game, he would want to annoy Wang Yu with that.

“Iron Bull? Isn’t he very powerful? Used plug-in software? No wonder…”

Those that were killed by Wang Yu were also old gamers who always thought highly of themselves. Naturally, they would have heard of Wang Yu. With Hidden Lurker’s instigation like that, everyone instantly recalled the BUG-like things that he did in the past.

In a game, everyone would naturally feel jealous of people better than themselves. It was natural that they will be jealous of Wang Yu. Now that they died because of Wang Yu, and hearing about Wang Yu’s plug-in software, they were definitely going to get angry. The more they thought about it, the more furious they became. Therefore, most of them simply logged out of the game to complain on the website and cause more commotions on the forum.

Seeing the effect of his instigation, Hidden Lurker felt slightly better after having his BOSS snatched away by the Quan Zhen Sect. He sent a message to Nian Liuyun, “Liuyun, where are you?”

After some time, Nian Liuyun replied with a secret grudge, “Port…”

“You haven’t left that place…” Hidden Lurker replied immediately but stopped halfway as he recalled what happened to Nian Liuyun. After all, a damage like this was not something that could be healed within an hour or two. Even so, Hidden Lurker was too late to regret his reply because he had already sent them out.

“No… I feel like pride is not the only thing I lost. I want to be alone for a while.” Nian Liuyun replied with dejectedly.

“I’ve even lost my life…” Hidden Lurker tried to comfort Nian Liuyun.

Nian Liuyun replied, “That is different! Some items that are lost will never return! You’ve merely lost your life!”

“God…” Hidden Lurker was shocked by Nian Liuyun’s reaction as he sighed, “Alright, you should have some time to yourself to cool down.”

Nobody could understand Nian Liuyun’s suffering because they weren’t put through what he went through. Hidden Lurker was a smart person so he understood this logic. However, Nian Liuyun’s words actually reminded Hidden Lurker of something. Did he really only lost his life?

At the thought of that, Hidden Lurker looked at his equipment list. En, all his equipment was still there, nothing was lost…

As he looked through his backpack, he confirmed that all his tools were there too. After dying so many times, the fact that he didn’t drop anything made his gloomy heart feel slightly better.

Hidden Lurker’s attitude was actually very optimistic. He had merely lost a BOSS and after coming back from his lowest state previously, he was no longer too concerned about this loss.

When Hidden Lurker was checking the last list of his bag, his bright face froze in shock.

“F*ck! No way!!” Hidden Lurker couldn’t help but cried out.

“I don’t mind dropping anything else but why must it be this? F*ck! I should have left it in the warehouse!” Hidden Lurker cried out devastatingly with regrets.

“Boss, what happened?”

The players beside Hidden Lurker saw how devastated Hidden Lurker became so they asked out of curiosity.

“No… nothing. I’ve dropped something so I will head back to look for it. The few of you can head back first if you wish.” Hidden Lurker replied.

Hidden Lurker was a very cautious man with little friends. Presently, he was clearly trying to hide something from his men.

The players from United Alliance were not too concerned about it as they nodded, “Let’s head back together then… We have to take the airship from the port to go home anyway.”

“Oh, really? I forgot…” Hidden Lurker was really not in the mood to talk.

On the way back to the port, Hidden Lurker was praying in his heart that the item he dropped must not been seen by anyone else. Hopefully whoever saw it would treat it like a rubbish and disregard it.

When they arrived at the port, Hidden Lurker separated himself from his men as he headed over to where he was killed by Vainglory.

Hidden Lurker checked every possible spot in this area and the truth was telling Hidden Lurker that the item he lost was picked up by someone else… It was highly possible that he could never get it back.
