Chapter 629: Chapter 629: In Progress
If one didn’t consider the future development into a major city, undeniably, this place was perfect as a guild’s base.
Finding such an ideal location within a map so full of ancient gods, this was where the essence of Prosperous Era lay.
Li Yao knew, in his previous life, there hadn’t been a player with ambitions as grand as his, to want to build a real main city.
Even if there were, they would probably not be able to develop it past a small town due to financial issues, changing their initial intentions or vanishing due to unforeseen circumstances, the foremost being war.
To develop normally required human and material resources far beyond those required for a typical base, naturally the manpower and difficulty of defense would be immense as well.
But a pure guild base was different, it had no burden of massive residential areas, recreation zones and other things.
Functional buildings were compact, fully equipped, and the place was small, making it good for defense.
Take for instance this place, it’s currently low-leveled, one city gate could easily hold off thousands of people.
In the later stages, one could also create a defensive Array. If it were Spark City, wanting to have an Array cover it would be like daydreaming.
If it were not for Li Yao’s rebirth, he would not have had the courage; it was indeed too difficult.
He leisurely walked towards the city gate. Prosperous Era’s guild base had already developed into a small town. The city walls, instead of being made of wooden fort gates like a small village, now had reinforced brick-and-tile structures.
The city gate was left open. When Li Yao arrived, there were players patrolling the city wall. It was quite impressive, and there were also four people guarding the city gate.
Yes, these were all players. Even for Prosperous Era, a massive guild, it was almost impossible to subdue NPCs.
Even the top-tier guilds, they could only win over a small number of NPCs who hadn’t succeeded.
“Brother, which guild are you from? What are you doing here?” A hunter stopped Li Yao who was about to enter.
Li Yao was stunned and asked, “Is your guild implementing some form of martial law?”
Prosperous Era quickly waved his hand, saying, “Brother, don’t get the wrong idea. It’s just a random question, we’re not under martial law. We in Prosperous Era welcome players from all sides, just asking what your intentions are so I can point you in the right direction. It won’t delay anything.”
“I see. Just call me Mozart. I’m just doing a mission, the closest place is here, so I want to find an inn and bind a Hearthstone.” Li Yao scratched his head and said, “By the way, many guild bases are simple and bare. Can I resupply at your guild base?”
“Hehe, you don’t know about us Prosperous Era yet. Not bragging, but our base was one of the first to develop into a small town. We’ve spent a lot of money to bring in NPCs, so there are no problems with resupply.” Prosperous Era said in a serious tone, “But, you should be cautious. Don’t run around in the buildings, it would be unfortunate if a misunderstanding happened.”
“No, no, I’m just looking for an inn.” Li Yao laughed.
“Alright then. Once you enter the gate and get to the first intersection, turn left and you’ll see the closest inn.” Prosperous Era politely directed.
“Thank you.” Li Yao then entered the small town.
The town was very tidy, both sides were populated with buildings in the style of Troll Temples, the ground was paved with flagstones, mostly guild buildings. The majority of players were from Prosperous Era, but there wasn’t much attention given to outsiders, Li Yao saw many players not from the guild.
Currently, it is the time for the Horde to regroup and recover lost land, a lot of military exploit tasks, plus the monsters around here were all level 20 and above. Naturally, there were a lot of players around.
“Indeed, they aren’t simple. The development of this base is really successful. What a pitty, what a loss. Why did they have to provoke me?”
After arriving at the hotel, Li Yao immediately rented a room, paid for three days, then went to his room.
Then, he took out the altar compass and dripped his blood on it. Li Yao had a new skill now, similar to a Hearthstone, but he could only use it three times. After three uses, the altar would shatter.
Li Yao calmly set things up in his room. Until he finished, three hours have passed.
It was already dark. Li Yao looked out the window, it was the hotel’s backyard, surprisingly quiet.
He entered into the shadows and activated Touch of Darkness, silently getting up to the rooftop.
It was night time, it was quite lively here.
Clearly, going back to the main city and then returning was a hassle. Not everyone was as extravagant as Li Yao.
Ordinary players rarely rent a Flying Mount, it’s simply too expensive.
Following the transport convoy to each map was too time-consuming. Naturally, if you have spoils of war and can’t return temporarily, you will set up a stall in the nearest small town.
Along with bored players seeking entertainment, the town was lively, especially the plaza. It was crowded with people, firelight reaching the sky, buzzing with excitement.
“Not bad. What a pity, what a pity.” Li Yao once again lamented the pity. Then he silently used Magic Spider Silk to hop between the buildings.
The Troll Temple building was made from boulders. Li Yao was already quiet enough in the shadows, plus the buildings here went unnoticed by people. A man continually set something up.
Li Yao ran a lap around the small town’s buildings then returned to the hotel.
After that, Li Yao began to sketche on the mini-map, half an hour later Li Yao looked up and muttered to himself, “Finally calculated it all. It’s been so long since I last played with an Array, I’ve gotten rusty.”
After finishing speaking, Li Yao once again entered the shadows and came to the rooftop. He then began to set up palm-sized totems. When Li Yao set up the last totem, all the totems disappeared, as if they have never even existed.
“It’s a good thing it worked.” Li Yao showed a smile. “I can’t just destroy their base all at once, that would be letting them off too easy. I need to play with them properly.”
Li Yao, in a corner, used Touch of Darkness to climb to the mountain top. Then he opened the map, pinpointed the target and ran over.
Half an hour later, Li Yao arrived at a mountain range. Even in the shadows, Li Yao was very careful so as not to alert the monsters above.
Horned Eagle Beast, is a very terrifying Warcraft. They are like bucks but have wings that are like eagle’s. They have antlers and bodies of a deer.
They are gigantic, way more formidable than eagles. In Stoneclaw Mountain, there are these low-level Horned Eagle Beasts with a diluted bloodline, even so, they are more dreadful than ogres.
Its feathers are like steel, making the best armor. Its claws can tear everything, and also possess magical abilities. Current players do not wish to provoke this kind of monster.
Even Li Yao doesn’t want to provoke them.
Li Yao cautiously climbed to the mountain peak, and in sight were many nests. Many Horned Eagle Beasts were asleep, and many nests contained Horned Eagle Beast Eggs.
Li Yao surveyed the situation, then gave out a command, Firehawk issued an ear-piercing call.
As if issuing a challenge, many Horned Eagle Beasts awakened, looking towards Firehawk…
