Chapter 480: Killing the Sin Champion
480 Killing the Sin Champion
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” Caden roared, spit flying out as he franticly clawed at the ground, rushing toward Alex with a maddened look in his eyes.
“You want to know about this ring?” Alex questioned back as he threw a front kick, hitting the crazed-looking Caden square in the jaw and sending him reeling back.
“Its name is Aqarqoya, meaning vengeful spirit, an early-stage mythical item forged by Carraig Ceard, a Forge Monarch of ancient times,”
“As you could have guessed, this ring is not a regular mythical item, as it allows the user to create a field devoid of all laws, making it impossible for even Elemental Rulers to wield any elements,”
“However, the anomalies creation of the lawless field comes at a great cost because even with the source being a Mythical item forged by one of the greats using the most outstanding of materials, the ring could only bear the burden of creating the field three times before its breaks apart and turn to dust,”
“DIE, YOU FU****G Bastard,” Caden roared as he picked up his hammer and swung it at Alex, which he easily avoided by stepping to the inside before catching the blooded champion by the neck and slamming him into the ground.
“The first time, the ring was used by Kovak Hukarit to kill the Monarch of Frost, and he did so to avenge his wife, and this is the second time it is being used,”
“So you should feel very fortunate that an item of such worth is being used to deal with a scum like you,” Alex said as he avoided another hammer swing.
Caden did not need an explanation to know that he was royally screwed, which was the reason why fear was overwhelming his senses, and he was acting like a mad dog.
While Alex was happy that a scum like Caden would meet his end, he was not satisfied with his ending because if it was up to him, he would deal with that low life with his own means.
However, Alex knew this fight was much bigger than his ego or his little revenge because Caden held one of the eight crystals and possibly information about where they could find the others, so letting him roam freely was not an option.
“Domain Ruler, I will just need him for a few moments,” The emotionless voice of Elder Darrien sounded as his figure appeared next to Alex, followed by the ethereal beauty that was Lady Margaret.
Caden was frozen in place, his nose broken, his chin split open with blood leaking out, his teeth shuttering same his whole body, while his once proud eyes, now cloaked in despair and terror, welled with tears as he met the cold crimsons eyes of the figure standing before him.
It had been less than thirty seconds since the lawless Domain took effect, and in such a short time, the immensely proud, confident, and egocentric Sin Champion was falling apart like a crumbling facade, showing the fragility beneath the shell of power and arrogance.
“YOU STAY AWAY,”
“You stay away from me. I am the Great Sin Champion of Greed. I am a man who will rule the Human Continent,”
“You bloodsucking undead fiend, stay away from me.”
“My Master is Great Mammon, Mammon the Embodiment of Greed. If you dare to harm me, my master will annihilate you, your family, your entire fucking clan,” Caden roared as he pushed back with both hands and feet, seemingly trying to run away.
“I hope I get to meet this master of yours,” Elder Darrien said as he placed his hand atop the struggling Caden and picked him up like a rat.
The resisting figure of Caden quickly went limp before Elder Darrien disappeared with him, taking him outside the boundaries of the lawless Domain so he could remove his means of escape and also extract his memories.
When Alex listened this plan to deal with Caden, many questions came to his mind, and one of the top priorities was how he could just Caden once Elder Darrien was done with him.
Alex had expected that he would require to bring Caden to the Domain so they could extract information and even leave his end to Guardian Elmara because, knowing her, she would surely want to get her hands on a living, breathing Sin Champion.
But to his surprise, Elder Darrien was capable of extracting memories from blood, and while it was better that the target was alive, he could extract memories from even the dead.
Varon declared that Elder Darrie was the best man for the job, and if he failed to get certain memories with his technique, then even the Vampire Queen or the Guardian Elmara would not do better.
“Domain Ruler, he is all yours,” Elder Darrien said as he materialized next to Alex before throwing Caden forward.
No more than a minute had passed, yet Elder Darrien’s words suggested he was pleased with his work, giving Alex the green light to kill the Sin Champion.
“You— – – You- – You took the Omen Cube?” Caden said as he came to his senses, his fear of death momentarily getting suppressed as he felt the absence of the cube, which was his last hope of survival.
“You look sane enough, so let me ask you a question,” Alex said, trying to get Caden’s perspective on something that puzzled even his elders.
“Ahrimon gave you the Omen Cube of Unbound Protection, one of the best protection treasures, yet he made you taunt me and keep giving me your location,”
“But he should understand very well about the Aqarqoya ring,” Alex said, and hearing his words, Caden, who was drifting back into the state of despair, had momentary clarity as he listened intently.
“So why would he send you on a mission that would undoubtedly end in your death?” Alex questioned, something that all the elders noticed, but none had a clear answer.
Caden fell silent, the trembling of his body ceasing, and his eyes took on a contemplative look as he momentarily let go of the fear of his impending demise and began searching for an answer to the raised question.
Caden was not a nobody who could be thrown away on a whim because he was the vessel of one of seven Kings under the Demon King, making him one of the most important individuals, even among the hierarchy of demons.
Caden was an indispensable asset, a future general on whom the demons had spent a great number of resources, so the idea that his own side might have orchestrated his demise stung him more deeply than the prospect of mere misfortune.
Caden suddenly remembered a conversation he had with his master, a small part of a lengthy conversation, something that was no more than a fleeting comment by his master with no base, yet that small line echoed in his mind, like his very being giving him the answer he was looking for.
‘Did he snap?’ Alex thought, seeing Caden laughing historically like a madman.
But Alex also considered that maybe Caden had realized something, so he looked toward Elder Darrien, thinking he might want to check, but the elder shook his head, making it clear that he could extract memories, not what the individual was thinking.
“Do you have an answer for me?” Alex questioned, but not before punching Caden in the face to stop his mad laughter.
“Domain Ruler, You will die a terrible death,” Caden said, with seething hatred, with a blooded smile stretching across his face.
Alex did not answer and just smiled as, with a quick sword draw, he sliced the neck clean, killing one of the seven champions of sin.
