Chapter 476 A Challenge
Chapter 476 A Challenge
After confirming the domain’s support, the Emperor shared all the details he had on the Cult and figures who could very well be involved in bringing down his empire before sharing his decision to act separately from Alex and his group, making his move by staying in the shadows, at least until he knew who was his friend and enemy.
So, with an agreement to stay in contact and share their finding, Alex, with two royal guard regiment captains, his two elders, and five hand-picked elites, returned to the Human Continent.
Both Royal Guard captains were early-stage Eight Rank individuals, with one of them belonging to the?Black Dragon clan, a man named Draknar, an assassin with an unusually cold and silent demeanor.
The other was named Araneth, a wood elf whom Varon appointed as the head of the operation because she was one of the most intelligent and accomplished figures in the domain.
While Alex was at the center of everything, his role was just to act as the transporter, bringing the elite guards to the Human continent every six hours because the entire operation was independent of him.
But that did not mean he did not know what was going on, and as Varon was one to give orders, Zero had no problem with Alex, and no warnings were issued to him for breaking the restrictions.
In the following two days, Alex spent his time bringing more than sixty royal guards to the human continent and then went on to do leveling, testing skills in combat, and so on, as he had nothing else to do.
A month passed without any significant event, with the only major discoveries being a few key figures of the cult and the location of many places where they committed heinous crimes against humanity.
The guards even found several strong demons hiding among the humans, but nothing about the location of the Chaos generals or the holders of the essence Conduit crystals was found.
However, on a faithful day, two great news came, at least for Alex, as the royal guards found Lerela Nilbontare, a cult elder hidden under the disguise of Perfidia Vohiti.
The other news came in the form of Champion of Greed making his location public using the players, and he came fully prepared as he was present inside the dark dome, the same that kept even Sixth Rank out in the recent demon invasion.
The first news was significant because Lerela Nilbontare was the noble demoness he needed to kill to complete the two quests he acquired from Ludrarth Forechester and his son Clifford Forechester.
One quest would give Alex access to the Nekrós legacy, while the other one would give him the location of the Ancient Human Civilization legacy ground.
While some benefits were great, the real good news was Caden Silver coming out of his rat hole, giving Alex the opportunity to settle the score and wash away the shame of his first encounter.
But as much as he was eager to visit Caden, Alex knew better than to rush in, knowing it could very well be just a trap.
So, after some research, he planned to go and have a test battle against Caden, knowing he stood no chance in a death battle because the Duke of Greed could possess that bastard, pushing him to the level of an Elemental Ruler.
The guard captain, Draknar, was the one to visit Caden and see what the demons were planning, as he was the only one strong enough to breach the barrier and stay inside for a few seconds and even escape if needed.
Caden disappeared the instant Draknar began to breach the barrier, leaving behind nothing but an empty patch of land that had no residual effects from any traps, meaning no traps were present there for months.
Minutes later, a video surfaced on the unofficial game forum before quickly getting shared to the official forums, where Caden challenged Alex and explained quite a few things.
Alex, with both his elders standing by his side, was silently looking at the large transparent display showing a man who wore a verdant green fox mask with the jaws of the fox wide open, revealing the mouth of the man, eyes of the mask pinched into thin slits, revealing the pulsing green eyes, appearing anything but pleasing to the eyes.
“Domain Ruler, our last meeting was cut short, so let’s have another one where I can humiliate you once more, or you can take my head,” Caden said, his voice unrecognizable to Alex but not his demeanor. .
“In our last meeting, you were nothing but a cockroach, kept running around like a dog, so we did not have any real fun,”
“But as you know, the Demon King will not allow me to kill you, so as I did not kill you then, I will not kill you now, so be a man and come face me,”
“However, you are welcome to stay a spineless worm and keep sending your dogs at me, but as my ruler expects that, he had graced me with this marvelous treasure,”
“It allows me to create barriers and teleport away, keeping me safe from your lap dogs,” Caden said, a dark cube floating over his hand, a broad smile with lips arching up spread across his face matching that of the fox mask.
“I will be waiting for you, ready and alone with one of the crystals that you so dearly want,”
“Each time you would send a lap dog, I will go to a different location and reveal my location every six hours, so when you have grown a pair of balls befitting a man, you can come to meet me,” Caden uttered before he burst into eerie laughter and the video ended.
“I am going to meet him in twenty-four hours, and I would appreciate it if you guys don’t stop me, but for now, can I get the spot of Perfidia Vohiti?” Alex said, not even wanting to discuss the matter any further.
Alex was mad, but he made this decision with a calm mind, and he did so the moment he discovered out about Caden wanting to meet with him.
Now, he was saying it out loud, and the reason was that he knew if things did go down the hill, he had the Continental teleportation ready to escape, unlike the last time.

(The Demon Continent)
(Weeks Before the Present Day)
In a grand throne chamber of the demon king’s palace that batheth directly under the moon thanks to its arched open ceiling, Ahrimon could be seen seated on his regel ebony and gold throne, his void-like eyes looking down at the kneeling figure below.
“So, Nothing, Huh?” Ahrimon spoke, his calm voice giving away no emotion, yet at the same time, it appeared that he was disappointed, sad, angry, bored, and many such emotions, a phenomenon that would make a sane individual question their sanity.
“My King, the rouge chaos general did not attack any of the other prisons on the human continent, nor any of the ones located on the other continents,”
“It appears he had only interest in the one he freed, and seeing he is a male and the other is a female, it could be that she is his lover, and this also explains why he broke the oath after we gave him the strength to exact some of his revenge and die a prideful death,” The cloaked figure, speaking of the strange incident that foiled one of his kings plan.
“It would be true for any species that have normal desires, but for those wrathful creatures whose only desire is to destroy, it is not the last thing that I will consider,”
“So this leads me to believe they have a reason to stay calm,” Ahrimon said, his voice showing many emotions, yet now interest was the dominant one.
“My King, do you mean they have a leader, like a kind, or that rouge Choas general somehow can control his emotion because he had some goal,” The cloaked figure asked, wanting to learn more about the matter that interests his king.
“A Goal to keep him tamed for a decade? Maybe, But a Queen who can keep him under control,”
“Now, that is one fascinating idea,” Ahrimon said, a rare smile creeping across his cold face.
The cloaked figure, undeniably strong in his own right, felt a shiver run down his spine as the mere notion of the existence of a Chaos Spawn Queen sent chills through him, given his know-how of her infamous history.
Yet, it was the rare sight of a smile spreading across his king’s face that truly unnerved him, an emotion he had witnessed fewer times than he had fingers on one hand.
“Let one of the Chaos Generals go free, and make sure the Essence Conduit crystal is embedded into him, and then keep watch over him, and hopefully, he will lead us to something interesting,” Ahrimon said, and the cloaked figure bowed his head before disappearing from the chamber like a ghost slipping out of reality.
