Chapter 260 Gaining Access to the Elven Continent
“I thought we were friends, but it hurt my feelings when you vanished without even saying goodbye,” a deep and cold voice sounded from Alex right as he exited the building.
‘I expected them to approach me, knowing I could vanish again for months,’ Alex thought, looking at a man approaching him with a bright smile.
The individual who stood before Alex was the leader of the small adventurer team named Omori, and it was his team that was appointed by the demon cult to get close to him before using his desires to introduce him to the cult.
“Omori, My apologies if my abrupt disappearance caused any confusion, but there were some urgent matters I needed to attend to,” Alex said, feigning surprise.
“Aeon, After hearing about your recent feats against the demons, I really believe you like to stay in the spotlight, but that aside, I’m glad to see you are well,” Omori said with a smile as he extended his hand a handshake.
“I just happened to be in the right place at the right time,” Alex replied, shaking his hand.
“Aeon, I first wanted you to join my team because of your skills and talent, but now I just want you to join just for your fame,” Omori said.
“I appreciate the invitation, but I enjoy working independently, taking on challenges at my own pace.” Alex pretended to consider the offer, his expression thoughtful.
“Independence is admirable, but a team can provide support and new perspectives. Think of it as expanding your horizons.” Omori’s smile remained persistent.
“Well, How about this you don’t officially join my team but instead stay in contact with me, and when I have a good mission, then I will inform you about it, and if you like to join, then you are always welcome,” Omori said, not giving even a moment to Alex to decline again.
“You make a compelling argument, and I suppose I could use a change of pace from time to time.” Alex chuckled softly.
“Excellent. Keep this, and I will inform you when I find something interesting.” Omori’s eyes glinted with satisfaction as he handed Alex a communication slip.
“Thanks for the opportunity,” Alex said as he accepted the slip.
“It’s been a pleasure meeting you. Please convey my greetings to the rest of the team,” Alex said before leaving the area.
‘I have less than two days before the demons start running rampant, so let’s make them count,’
‘I should start by delivering the blueprints to Thogrim so he can start working on the battle puppets and warships, then I can go and collect the fire element source crystal that Alden wants,’
‘I should also start focussing on building my mana veins and awaken my elemental Flame as quickly as possible to promote to the Fourth Rank.’
my previous life,’ Alex thought, scrolling through the adventurer guild honor shop.
‘As for introducing the players to the Malefis Domain, I should do it after the demon invasion is over,’ Alex thought as he made his way back to his hotel room.
‘The variety and quality of items are as amazing as I remember from my previous life,’ Alex thought, scrolling through the adventurer guild honor shop. 𝚍n𝚘v𝚕.𝚝
‘The guild was generous and gave me 2.7 million honor points, and permanent access to the Elven continent (Mother’s Adobe) for my organization will cost me 2 million leaving me with a good amount of points,’
‘The other things I want are either out of my budget or not available yet, so I might as well save them for the future,’ Alex thought as he opened the continental travel option.
Alex was buying access to the Elven continent even though it was not the nicest continent at the current time because Elves hated humans as much as the Beastmen did, but still, it was the second continent that Alex was most familiar with and knew about many opportunities.
Alex was also skeptical about the future because in his previous life, the demon invasion happened close to two years from now, and it was the first big event that set other bigger events in motion.
If things progressed as they did in Alex’s previous life, then the devourer Curse events were only months away before the Elven continent would be plunged into absolute chaos.
Alex wanted to prepare to the best of his ability, knowing that he needed to make the most of the time he had if he wanted to see his plans come to fruition.
Alex bought access to the eleven continent in the name of his organization before using the communication slip to contact Thogrim.
“Kid, If it’s about your request, then you can contact me again once you arrive at Eclipse Haven,” Thogrim said the moment the connection got established.
‘What the hell is he doing at that criminal island?’ Alex thought, surprised after hearing the name of his destination.
Eclipse Haven was an island some distance away from the human continent known for being the den of criminals, and similarly to the Gladiator island, it did not have any form of teleportation, and even traveling to it via flying ship was not available publicly.
The island was not under the control of the human Empire and was not a safe place like Gladiator Island because there was only one rule in that place, survival of the fittest.
The island had earned its ominous reputation due to the lawlessness that reigned within its borders. It was a place where power and cunning determined one’s fate, and the weak had little chance of survival.
“What are you doing in such a well-reputed place?” Alex questioned to clear his doubt.
“Kid, I am here on business, precisely to collect some materials I need to reforge my hammer and won’t be coming back until I acquire the materials, so if you want me to do the work, you need to drop by,” Thogrim said, as he chuckled on the other end.
‘So, I don’t have any other choice but to make this trip,’ Alex thought, knowing he couldn’t wait for Thogrim to return to the human continent.
“If you are worried about the travel, I can arrange it for you, and you will be here in four days,” Thogrim said after a few seconds of silence.
“I will arrive there on my own,” Alex said, knowing Elder Darion could make him reach the island in mere minutes.
“Well, You should contact me when you arrive, and I will send someone to pick you up,” Thogrim said before closing the connection.
‘Well, This will be an adventure,’ Alex thought, remembering the famous places on Eclipse Haven island.
Alex had never visited Eclipse Haven island in his previous life, not because of the various incident of players getting robbed, kidnapped, and other nefarious activities associated with the island.
But It was simply because he never had enough funds to spend on a trip that had more a lot risk than the potential reward.
‘Let’s check on Ricin before I leave,’ Alex thought and summoned his beast companion.
A giant cocoon of towering size appeared before Alex, covered in clusters of veins pulsing with life covering the entirety of it.
‘I see no physical changes while my mana senses cant scenes inside the cocoon,’ Alex thought, placing the cocoon back in the beast companion space.
Alex was about to leave the room when he received a notification about the communication request on his Thunder Knight Badge.
“Lady Telyssa, what can I do for you,” Alex asked as the connection got established.
“Aeon, Prince Aphariaen wants to meet you, so come to the White Palace as quickly as you can,” Lady Telyssa said.
“I will be there shortly,” Alex said, placing the badge back into his inventory before leaving for the Royal Palace.
