Chapter 247 Manipulating

After seeing the untimely demon invasion, Alex needed the plan to benefit from it, and seeing that none of his preparations were completed, he only had one option left, and that was to use his Ruler status.

Alex understood that any harm he did to the demon, which purely came thanks to his status as the Domain Ruler, would break the restriction placed upon him by Zero, but he also understood that those restrictions didn’t work in special circumstances.

After some thinking, Alex devised a plan to get what he wanted without hopefully triggering the restriction, and to accomplish it, he took help from his trusted guardians in the form of two specific unRanked Scroll carrying the power on par with the Seventh Rank spells.

Alex’s planned to use the first scroll that carried a defensive spell to block the death beam, and with the fortress barrier gone, the human army would clash with demons and amidst all the chaos, when the opportunity presented itself, he would use the second scroll to take out the Soulreaver cannon.

As for not breaking the restriction, he hoped that using the scrolls when his life was in danger would be considered a special circumstance and would not break it, but even if things didn’t work out as he hoped, he planned to use system wishes to get away with it.

Why was Alex investing so much effort and even willing to spend precious system wishes to safeguard the human army from certain doom and eliminate the menace of Soulreaver’s cannon? The answer was simply the substantial personal gains he stood to acquire.

Alex was doing all this to gain ‘Honor Points,’ which will be given by the adventurer guild to groups or individuals with substantial contributions against the looming threat to the continent.

The honor points could be used to gain access to extremely rare things ranging from gaining permanent access to other continents at individual or organizational scales, legacies, extremely valuable items, opportunities, and so on.

Alex was aiming for those opportunities, and as a lone individual, he needed to achieve great feats to earn enough points for the things he wanted.

Now at the current moment, Alex stood at the front of the battlefield holding the shimmering crimson scroll, ready to start executing his plan.

The Human army stood in terror, every soldier instinctively ducking down, trying to hide behind the colossal golden shield, hoping to be the lucky ones to survive the attack.

The Demon army roared and cheered, waiting to see the massacre while their commander sprinted forth in panic, appearing before the human who stood at the forefront separated from the army.

In the instant he took to arrive there, the man vanished into thin air leaving behind a floating crimson-red scroll that he swiftly tried to destroy with a mighty blow with his great sword, but his sword was halted inches away from the scroll.

The illuminating scroll crumbled before his very eyes turning into a crimson rune that released an ethereal red glow that swiftly expanded and turned into a massive wall that stretched for hundreds of meters, dividing the valley in two.

A mere moment later, the fully charged Soulreaver cannon released a dense beam of untamed dark energy that ripped through the air producing a piercing cacophony and unsettling the very fabric of space before colliding with the crimson veil.

The two armies watched in shock as a thin crimson veil took the full brunt of the devastating beam of death, and while most humans were startled yet relieved by the appearance of the barrier, the few who saw how it appeared couldn’t believe their eyes.

‘I didn’t receive any warning from Zero, so let’s hope I am correct in my thinking and it stays the same,’ Alex thought, standing at the back of the army, blending with surrounding players as he watched the human army get back to their senses.

‘The first step is complete, and now I just need to wait for the opportunity to take out the Soulreaver cannon,’ Alex thought, looking at the crimson barrier crumbling to nothingness.

After seeing the unexpected conclusion, a ripple of astonishment and disbelief spread through both the human and demon forces, leaving an eerie stillness in the air.

Kerubiel, the grand commander of the human army, seized the moment to take charge and, standing atop his majestic mount, his armor gleaming in the pale light, his expression stubborn and determined as his voice boomed across the battlefield, cutting through the lingering shock. 𝘰𝑣𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

“Soldiers of humanity! We stand united against this onslaught! We may die, but we shall not falter! We shall not bend! We fight for our families, for our homes,” Kerubiel roared as he beamlined toward the demon commander on his majestic mount.

The soldiers, shaken from their initial terror, quickly regained their composure and, following the lead of their respective captains, readied themselves for the imminent onslaught, preparing to unleash the next volley of attacks.

The captains of the elite regiments, Titan’s Vanguard, Aurora Valkyries, and Wraith Guards, moved to the forefront, broke from their regiments, and followed behind Kerubiel to join him in the battle against the demon commander.

The four seasoned captains, each at the pinnacle of the fifth Rank, engaged with the Sixth Rank demon commander with grim determination knowing his presence alone posed a great threat.

The Demon Commander laughed as he caught the shimmering blade of Kerubiel with his flame-covered hand and waved his free hand toward the fortress, and roared in some unknown language before punching Kerubiel in his chest, sending him flying back.

The demon fortress, Wrathreaver, rumbled to life once more, and its tens of mana cannon pulsed with energy while the demon army roared in a chant of unknown language that resonated across the battlefield.

The human army charged forward, their weaponry pulsing with energy, ready to clash with the demon head-on, but the demons stayed still in their position, and moments later, both side launched their flurry of attacks.

The fortress unleashed a barrage of devastation upon the human army, launching an array of deadly attacks that made advancement nearly impossible.

From its towering spires and well-armed walls, it launched volleys of arcane projectiles, elemental bursts, and beams of energy that rent the air with dazzling displays of destruction.

The sky was painted with trails of ominous light as the weapons of the fortress found their mark, tearing through the shields and unleashing chaos.

The fortress unleashed a barrage of devastation upon the human army, launching an array of deadly attacks that made advancement nearly impossible.

Amidst this chaos, the human army didn’t stay idle as they launched long-range attacks that arced through the air and rained down upon the demon forces while the warships unleashed attacks onto the floating fortress.

The battlefield became a symphony of destruction, the clash of powers and the detonation of spells creating an otherworldly spectacle of doom.

In the chaotic battlefield, his fellow thunder knights tried to complete their mission by first drinking the legendary invisibility potion to remove their very presence, which should fool even an early elemental Ruler before beam lining toward the demon portals.

But all three who tried were killed by the bombardment from the war fortress before they could even get anywhere near their target.

The effort by the human army was valiant, but Alex knew that end would be defeat as the war fortress defense and its ability to cause destruction were unmatched by even tens of warships.

The time slowly ticked by, and fifteen minutes later, only three of the ten warships remained while 20% of the human army was gone, while the demons had only lost a few hundred thousand troops and some of their weaponry.

The war fortress stood tall, having received little to no damage, while the demon commander was in similar condition and was dominating the battle against the captains.

The battle against the demon commander proved to be a daunting challenge, even with multiple fifth Rank mages supporting the captains from the sideline, simply because the chasm between the fifth and sixth Ranks was a monumental obstacle.

It was at this moment that the closed roof of the fortress opened once again, and the dormant Soulreaver cannon appeared again and started charging, making every soldier on the battlefield feel the fear of death once more.

‘It’s time to execute the second part of my plan,’ Alex thought as he sprung into action seeing the opportunity present itself.

Alex started by using his ‘Doppelganger’, creating a clone of himself before handing him the unranked scroll with the ‘Singularity Collapse’ spell given to him by the Thunder Knight order.

Alex controlled the clone and made him activate the scroll before making him sprint to the front of the battlefield while he himself drank the legendary potion turning him completely invisible and removing his very presence before sprinting toward the back.

“You think I will let you pull a fast one again?” The Demon commander roared as he flew like a lightning bolt toward Alex’s clone, who held a scroll pulsing with energy as he sprinted toward the floating fortress.

“STOP HIM,” Kerubiel roared as he followed behind the demon commander, his body instantly bursting with vast golden radiance, and without question, the three remaining captains followed behind him.

The Demon Commander unleashed his mighty presence, changing very gravity around him, making the clone halt his steps, his body radiating with demonic flames as he swung his great sword, brimming with power, toward Alex’s clone.

‘So easy to manipulate,’ Alex thought with a smile as he held a crimson scroll pulsing with energy.
