Chapter 111 Candidate Selection
‘After hearing the name of this Elixir, I had a feeling that it could be a cure to the Devourer Curse.’ Alex thought as he looked at the vial in his hand.
“The Nirvana Elixir could cure the Devourer Curse, but only the individuals at the second stage of the curse, and their strength need to be lower than the Elemental Ruler Rank.”
“There are no methods to produce Nirvana Elixir, and it could only be acquired from the Rulers Shop,” Varon said, bringing Alex back to reality.
“I believe my Ruler’s Authority needs to be at the fourth Rank before I can buy Nirvana Elixir,” Alex guessed it based on the condition placed by Varon.
“The previous Ruler bought a small quantity of Nirvana Elixir when his authority was at the Fifth Rank, but you might be able to buy it at the fourth or even the third Rank,” Varon replied.
Alex understood that Varon or anyone else wouldn’t know for certain what benefits Alex could receive as the Ruler because each Ruler walked a different path with different circumstances, and the domain provided things that could give the best benefits to the Ruler.
This was the reason why there were no road maps left by any of the previous Rulers for the next generation of Rulers to follow because they understood that their help would do more harm than good.
“How many Nirvana Elixir vials do you have,” Alex asked, knowing every elixir vial should be a valuable resource for research.
“There are a total of three vials of the elixir, with each Guardian owning three of them, and after today only two will be left,” Varon replied casually, like it was not a big deal.
‘So there are three guardians.’ Alex thought.
Alex was surprised by the small quantity of the elixir vials and was ready to ask Varon if he was using his elixir vial for him or if it was preplanned to be used and he just happened to be present, but Varon answered his question before he even asked.
“Domain Ruler, I have selected the three most valuable people whose revival could help you gain many benefits, so please choose wisely,” Varon replied.
“All Nirvana Elixir vials are an irreplaceable resource for the research of the cure, and we will never use it unless it could provide much more benefits than just curing a single individual.”
“There were ten vials of elixir placed in the treasury by the previous Ruler just as a valuable item as they could cure a person from many diseases and natural to unnatural conditions.”
“After the disaster seven decades ago, the elixirs became the only hope to finding a cure for the devourer curse.”
“In the last seven decades, Lady Elmara has used seven vials of elixirs, and by gathering information from every use, she has created many antidotes and has improved them throughout the years, helping the inhabitants live a life of peace.”
“Lady Elmara has improved her equipment, and after thorough testing, she has decided to use another elixir to gain fresh and improved data to hopefully create a much better version of the antidote.”
“I have decided to use this chance to help to gain the favor of a big clan that could help you improve your strength faster, which will also make the difficult path to increase your Rulers authority a little easier,” Varon said.
“I will not disappoint you or the domain inhabitants,” Alex said with a smile.
‘I think you should quickly choose the person you want to cure because Elmara will get angry if we delay her experiment.” Varon said with a smile.
“The first candidate I have selected for you to choose is the wife of the second elder of the Undead clan, and she is also the sworn sister of the Regrim, the clan’s leader.”
“The second person is the youngest child of the Telarion, the leader of the Dragon Clan.”
“The third is the third daughter of Queen Bellatrix, the matriarch of the Vampire clan.”
‘I don’t know if this is some kind of test or if Varon is genuinely helping me gain the support from a big clan.’ Alex thought after hearing about all three candidates.
Alex knew that even if the other clan leader didn’t know about this revival, they would eventually find out, and no matter which one he chose, he would be pissing off every other major clan.
Alex knew that none of the clan leaders hated him, but they were doing what was best to save their people by not offering him free loyalty because those old monsters understood clearly that too much power and influence would only corrupt a child like Alex.
Alex respected the clan leader’s decision because he was not delusional to believe he wouldn’t be corrupted by great influence and power.
Alex had that mentality not because he didn’t believe in himself but because he knew it was human nature to get complacent when things become easy and have no or minor consequences for them.
‘The logical choice would be to select between the candidate from the Dragon clan and the undead clan, but the best choice would be choosing the daughter of the Vampire queen.’ Alex thought.
Alex knew the temporary support he gained from the vampire clan was planned with a purpose and not out of loyalty to his Ruler position.
Alex understood that the vampire clan support was used to give him a taste of what every clan in the Malefis Domain could provide him and motivate him to work hard to gain the support of all the other clans.
“Domain Leader, you can freely choose any one of the candidates without worrying about the clan leaders because no one can select the person for cure other than the guardians.”
“If they even knew that you selected the candidate, they would not be pretty enough to hold it against you for not prioritizing their relative,” Varon said, seeing Alex in deep thought.
‘I will be choosing the daughter of Vampire’s queen.’ Alex thought after considering all the choices for a few seconds.
Alex was choosing the vampire queen’s daughter not just to repay her kindness but to build a better relationship with her and her clan.
Alex understood that even if he gained the support of any other clan, it would be useless in the short term, even without all the restrictions placed on him from Zero.
“I want to give this opportunity to the daughter of the Vampire’s queen,” Alex said, not overthinking his decision.
‘I knew he wouldn’t make a stupid decision, but it is good to know that his human greed does not control him.’ Varon thought with a smile after hearing Alex answer.
“Lady Elmara should be done with the preparation in a few minutes,” Varon said. .𝘤𝑜𝑚
Alex didn’t ask any questions to Varon but just silently looked at the floor, not interested in watching the creepy specimens hanging all over the place.
“You decided on the Guinea pig?” Lady Elmara appeared in front of the Varon and asked in a casual tone.
“I have decided to cure Lady Cordelia from the vampire clan,” Varon said.
“I don’t give jack shit about who you choose to cure. Just quickly fetch her coffin to my lab, so I can’t start the treatment.” Lady Elmara replied after looking around but finding no coffins.
“I think you forgot that I can control space element?” Varon replied calmly, not saying anything about Lady Elmara’s loud shouting.
“Fuck You, old geezer.” Lady Elmara said out loud and vanished from her place.
“She must have messed up some equipment preparation in the excitement to gain new and improved data,” Varon said, not looking offended by being cursed.
“Domain Ruler, I will be back in a few moments,” Varon said and vanished, leaving Alex alone.
‘I wonder what kind of personality the third guardian has?’ Alex thought as he stood silently waiting for Varon to arrive.
After a few seconds of wait that Alex spent watching the clear blue floor, Varon appeared by his side and opened a space portal that led straight into the lab.
‘This lab looks much better than the previous room.’ Alex thought as he looked around a big clean room.
The lab room had minimal, futuristic equipment that looked like a mix of technology and magic.
After looking at the unique equipment’s placed in the room, Alex walked toward Lady Elmara, who was standing next to a floating crystal coffin and a stone bed that looked like it was part of the dark marble floor.
“I will be starting the treatment.” Lady Elmara said with a smile as she removed the glass lid of the coffin using telekinesis and removed the frozen body of a lady.
Lady Elmara placed the lady on the stone bed, which instantly cuffed her arms, legs, waist, and neck, and then slowly, the whole stone bed was covered in milky white and silver runes that vanished after illuminating for a few moments.
