Chapter 391 - What Price Would You Pay For Love?
True to her words Catherine brought Jasmine downstairs for lunch. Lilian did not care to know what Catherine must have told their Madam, but she was happy that she came down for breakfast.
Halfway through their meal, Jasmine spoke up.
"Cat what price would you pay for love?" Jasmine asked in a serious tone, her gaze focused on her best friend.
Catherine was a little bit taken aback by Jasmine's question and her expression showed it.
"What do you mean?" Catherine asked not understanding why her best friend would ask her such a question.
"I meant what extent would you go to for the person you love? If the one you love is in danger and you know of a solution to save him. Even though the solution isn't favourable to you, would you do it for the one you love?" Jasmine rephrases her question. It took Catherine about two minutes before she could say anything.
"I don't think there is any limit to what you can do for the one you love. If Frey is in danger and I know of a way to save him then I wouldn't hesitate to throw myself in the fire to save him," Catherine said in a calm tone.
"Fire?" Jasmine asked pretending as though she did not know what Catherine meant by that.
"The fire isn't literal but it meant that I would do everything within my capacity to help him. It doesn't matter whether I lose or gain because there is nothing as loss or gain in love in the first place," Catherine said how she truly felt.
"That means as long as he is saved the outcome doesn't matter," Jasmine muttered inaudibly.
Thinking about Jasmine's question and the way she was acting, Catherine could not help but find her questions weird.
"Jasmine why did you ask me such questions. Are you ok? Did you find a way to help Jackson?" Catherine asked in a concerned tone. Her expression showed just how concerned she was about her best friend.
"I am fine," Jasmine said as she forced on a smile. Even with a smile on Catherine could see that her best friend was nowhere close to being fine.
"You...,"
"How are you and Pretty Boy doing? Are we expecting to hear wedding bells before Christmas?" Jasmine forced herself to joke.
"It's less than a month away from Christmas and you are talking about wedding bells, are you teasing me, best friend?" Catherine asked in a playful tone just to see whether Jasmine will loosen up and smile like she normally did. Unfortunately, Jasmine did not smile.
"Didn't you inform me a week ago that you were supposed to meet his parents today...,"
"I was thinking about telling Frey to postpone it to some other time because the atmosphere right now isn't suitable for any introduction," Catherine said, her expression turning gloomy.
"Girl, what are you thinking? Are you sure you are ok?" Jasmine asked sounding very displeased.
"Why on earth would you want to postpone such an important occasion? If you are worried about me and Ice Prince then you don't have to be. We will be fine... No, I mean I am fine. I am rooting for you," Jasmine sitting beside Catherine in the dining said as she tapped her gently to show her support.
"But...,"
"There is no need to feel bad. You should be excited to meet your future in-laws. Unlike mine, I have this feeling that your future in-laws are going to adore you," Jasmine tried to be excited because of Catherine.
She knows Catherine more than anyone does. She knows that as far as she is sad, Catherine will feel the same way and she did not want this to happen on such a big day.
"What time is the introductory meal?" Jasmine asked curiously.
"In an hour. Because of the meeting, I have taken the afternoon off work...,"
"It's in an hour?" Jasmine asked in surprise.
"If it is in an hour then why are you still sitting here instead of getting ready?" Jasmine stood up from the chair and instantly pull Catherine off the chair.
"I am dressed up already. Besides I didn't bring spare clothes...,"
"What are the new clothes in my closet for if not for you to freely use them. Our figure is slightly similar so I am sure it will fit perfectly," Jasmine said as she pulled Catherine along with her.
"But those clothes must have been bought for you by Jackson...,"
"What is mine is also yours, don't you know that or what are we best friends for?" Jasmine said in a carefree tone.
Catherine didn't look surprised to hear Jasmine say this. She has heard this way too often to get shocked by it.
"Weren't you sad earlier so how come you are so elated now...,"
"Nothing is more important than my darling Cat," Jasmine joked with smiles on her face.
"Not even Jackson is more important than me?" Catherine said in a teasing tone.
"You know the answer without me having to say it," Jasmine said as she continued dragging Catherine along with her.
Jasmine took her to their room. She forced Catherine to shower and afterwards made Catherine wear the orange dress she choose for her.
Catherine stare at herself as Jasmine did her make up. If there is one thing she had never regretted all of her life, it is being friends with Jasmine.
Some minutes later, Jasmine was done with the make-up. Catherine had a proper look at the finishing touch. The make-up looked simple but it matched perfectly with her outfit.
"I know you love looking simple that is why I tried to make you look as simple and innocent as ever," Jasmine standing at Catherine's back said.
Catherine standing in front of the huge mirror turned to stare at Jasmine.
"Simple?" Catherine chuckled. "There is nothing simple about this but it looks perfect," Catherine beamed at Jasmine.
"You almost got me there naughty girl," Jasmine said as she embraced Catherine out of the blue.
