“Goodbye.”

Loren casually sent out a crimson blade and beheaded Sher. He could have killed him long ago. He had kept him alive until now solely to charge Fate of Descent.

Loren brushed nonexistent dust off his clothes, then stepped forward and picked up the Wheel of Fortune card lying on the ground.

The card depicted three scenes linked in a circle: a foolish king, commoners rising in revolt, and a new king ascending the throne. These three scenes formed an endless cycle, repeating no matter how many times it turned.

【Tarot Card: Wheel of Fortune】

Effect: Replays events that have occurred in this place.

Description: What has happened will happen again; what has been done will be done again.

With this card, it was as if surveillance cameras with no blind spots had been installed in every corner of the world. It was easy to imagine how useful it would be for gathering information.

Moreover, this card could directly double Loren’s damage output.

Sher himself was weak, so he had needed to scheme so much to use the Wheel of Fortune card to attack.

But Loren was different. His stats were high enough that he could replay a moment in history as soon as he unleashed a Blood Moon Condensed Light, doubling its damage.

It was the simplest, most straightforward way to use the card, but it was powerful enough.

After obtaining the Wheel of Fortune card, Loren first replayed what had once happened here. As he had guessed, this really was where the Dawn Princess had fought the God of Night and Thunder.

If he slowly rewound the projection, Loren could learn more about the Dawn Princess, but there was little point. Even if he found where she had hidden her diaries, they certainly wouldn’t still be there.

Loren had rewound time tens of thousands of years before finally seeing the Dawn Princess. After so long, the countries she had once visited had probably all fallen.

Besides, Loren had no time for such pointless things right now. He set the time to the most recent point, returning to when Sher was still alive.

The projection began playing backward. The projected Sher picked up the Wheel of Fortune card, and his movements kept rewinding until they looked downright bizarre.

Sher burrowed into the ground, then emerged again. He kept starting projections in different places. This went on for several days, until he finally arrived at Ofemia’s house.

Loren watched as Sher delivered a letter, then returned to the battlefield and resumed playing the projection.

What he had done was indeed within Loren’s expectations. Without some kind of backup plan, he wouldn’t have dared face Ofemia.

That wasn’t the most important part. As Sher continued rewinding, he even reached the place where the Corrupt Blazing Sun had once appeared. The Corrupt Blazing Sun was also one of Sher’s backup plans.

After that, Sher visited a brothel.

Aside from those Plague Believers, there were actually very few lecherous people in this world, especially among the strong. There were even fewer of them.

Someone like Sher, who was both calculating and crafty, was even less likely to be driven by lust. He had definitely come here to carry out a plan.

“I’ve finally found his backup plan. So it was here…”

To threaten Loren, Sher had told other people about Loren and stressed that if he didn’t return, they should report Loren to the Church.

It made sense that he had chosen to tell the people at the brothel. After all, this was one of the places Loren would never set foot in.

Loren didn’t think this was a coincidence. Sher really had planned for this possibility.

Without the Wheel of Fortune card, Loren wouldn’t have come here looking for anyone.

Loren activated the Hermit card and followed Sher’s projection here, eventually entering a room.

Just as Loren had imagined, Sher really hadn’t done anything. He had merely been pouring his heart out to a prostitute, as though they were truly in love with each other.

The prostitute was also weeping beautifully. Even Loren couldn’t tell that anything was wrong.

As expected, Sher had told her about it. She was afraid, but in the end, greed swallowed up her fear.

“Sher, you were far too sure of yourself…”

By now, Loren could see what Sher had been thinking. He believed it would be easy to save this miserable woman from the bottom of society. If he treated her well and became the only person among all those wicked men to do so, she would give him her genuine affection.

But Sher had been wrong. He had been spectacularly wrong. He had congratulated himself from on high, thinking he was great and kind, when that woman had only seen him as an ATM.

Sher had overestimated human nature. He didn’t understand these people at all.

Compared with other places, the Kingdom of Uridia was relatively advanced. After all, capitalism really was more advanced than feudalism.

So the prostitutes here were working for a living, not forced into it with their freedom taken away.

As the saying went, people mocked the poor, not the prostitute. These women looked down most on laborers who worked themselves to death and soldiers who died in battle.

They wouldn’t think Sher had saved them. They would think their own charms had made him willing to give up everything.

If a nobleman had visited one day, they would think they deserved to be with a nobleman.

Thinking this, Loren memorized the prostitute’s face, then advanced the projection. This time, he began tracking her. She was his target.

Loren followed the prostitute’s projection all the way back to her home. He had to admit, her house was better than that of the vast majority of people in the Kingdom of Uridia.

This time, Loren found her right in her room, saving him quite a bit of time.

Loren knocked directly on her bedroom door, instantly putting her on guard.

“Who is it?”

She immediately pulled the revolver hidden beneath her pillow. A normal visitor would knock on the front door first. No one would knock directly on her bedroom door, which meant that person had already entered her house.

“It’s me, Loren.”

The prostitute’s hand holding the gun froze. Someone as important as Loren couldn’t possibly have come looking for her, but she hadn’t forgotten what she had done.

“Ma… Master Mentor… I’ll come open the door right away…”

In her panic, she had nearly called Loren the Master of Witches, but luckily she managed to correct herself.

She could manipulate her clients as if they were putty in her hands, but when faced with real danger, she still felt a deep fear.

To Loren’s surprise, the prostitute was telling the truth.

Given Sher’s personality, he would definitely have killed her once everything was over. With her cunning, she couldn’t have failed to keep a backup plan. She really couldn’t have trusted Sher completely.

So Loren changed the question:

“Do you have any other way to leak information about me?”

This time, there was no need for the lie-detection ability. Before the prostitute even answered, she had already started sweating profusely.
