Chapter 682: Anna Walked Ahead of Naclis

"Then how do I get you?"

"That will require you to go obtain more authority."

Death very consciously picked up a pair of chopsticks and began eating the food on Loren's plate.

Naclis looked at this little girl who had appeared out of nowhere, and her conversation with Loren was so intimate, which made her somewhat uncomfortable.

"Who is she?"

In the end, Naclis chose to ask directly.

Not just Naclis, many people present had never seen Death before, and they all looked at Loren in confusion.

"This is Death, transformed from the Death Card. She will kill those who should have died but survived for some reason, like me."

Hearing this, a crowd of witches who didn't recognize Death immediately prepared to attack, various weapons and magic all aimed at Death.

As long as she made the slightest suspicious move, the witches would swarm her and fight to the death.

Death was still eating the food on Loren's plate, ignoring the other witches.

"Wait, don't rush, she's one of us..."

Loren hurriedly stopped the witches, though even if they did attack, they couldn't possibly harm Death, and Death wouldn't fight back because of Loren.

"The Tarot cards were created by me, so I am her master.

"According to formal logic, she's here to kill me, but she has her own emotions, so it's impossible for her to kill me."

Loren directly laid these matters out, and Death didn't refute it, which was as good as a tacit admission.

"Since I've already made my presence felt, I'll be going now."

After finishing the meal, Death picked up a napkin and elegantly wiped her mouth.

This time, she didn't even bother finding an excuse when she let Loren off, she just left directly.

"..."

The witches relaxed their guard. Death had left them somewhat bewildered. They didn't understand why Death had suddenly popped up like that.

"That's that, I'm going to make puppets now."

Loren had already eaten his fill anyway, and Death had at most helped him clean up the leftovers.

"Scarlett, come with me to the basement. I plan to convert it into a laboratory."

Cecelia's home did have a basement, and a large one at that.

Anyway, her basement had originally been prepared for Loren, so it was normal for Loren to requisition it now, it was just that its purpose was completely different.

"Okay..."

Scarlett stuffed the remaining food into her mouth in one go and followed Loren's pace.

"By the way, Mirrorheart, remember to teach Panike how to speak. And remember, don't teach her any nonsense."

Loren sighed, handing Panike over to Mirrorheart. Loren was completely uneasy about it.

Getting Mirrorheart to avoid all that nonsense was harder than reaching the heavens. Loren suspected that even if he killed all the Orthodox Gods, he probably still wouldn't be able to change Mirrorheart.

But right now Loren really didn't have the time, otherwise he wouldn't have handed Panike over to Mirrorheart. That child was still a blank sheet of paper, he had to find a normal person to teach her properly.

Unfortunately, none of the other witches knew how to teach, only Anna knew a bit, but in a certain sense, going to her was even worse than going to Mirrorheart.

"I'll just leave her with Mirrorheart for a while, it shouldn't go wrong..."

Loren felt a little uneasy, and in the end, he decided to have Naclis keep an eye on Mirrorheart. Right now Naclis was still the most normal one...

...

Under Loren's direction, Scarlett placed all the equipment Loren needed in their corresponding locations, while Loren also drew out rituals.

Loren had basically moved all the rituals from his previous home over here, some for blocking perception, some for injecting energy, and even a self-destruct one.

After the laboratory was set up, Loren began his research. Unfortunately, Paqina wasn't here, so Loren's efficiency dropped considerably.

But fortunately, Loren still had Gwen and Orianna. With these two puppets present, it was like Loren had two extra hands.

Although his thinking speed didn't increase, at least his pace was much faster.

Meanwhile, on the other side, Naclis was sitting by the bed, watching Mirrorheart patiently teach Panike.

This time Mirrorheart seemed quite normal, but Naclis's mood was somewhat unsettled, distracted.

Her eyes were on Mirrorheart, but they had long since lost focus.

"Naclis."

Mirrorheart called out to Naclis, but Naclis showed no reaction, until Mirrorheart pushed her, and only then did she snap back.

"What is it?"

"Why are you so out of it?"

Mirrorheart's tone was very gentle, patiently guiding.

"..."

Since long ago, Naclis hadn't really liked Mirrorheart. She knew how much Mirrorheart had contributed to this family, but she had also always been afraid that Mirrorheart would steal Loren away from her.

Especially since at some unknown point, Mirrorheart had often been alone with Loren in a room, staying there for an entire day.

So, for all these years, although Naclis respected Mirrorheart, there was more or less some resentment in her heart, and it was impossible for her to have a heart-to-heart with Mirrorheart.

But now, they had been through so much together, especially with Loren having died once already, and Naclis's mindset had also undergone some changes.

In the end, she still spoke:

"Sigh... ever since I reunited with Master Mentor, he's been so busy all the time. We barely have any time alone together..."

"Your shadow went to peek on the master, did you notice?"

Mirrorheart didn't directly answer Naclis's words, but first glanced at her feet. At this moment, Naclis's shadow had already disappeared.

Mirrorheart didn't even need to think to know what Reflection Naclis was doing right now.

"Her ability really is convenient. Not just now, whenever there's an opportunity, she'll stay in Master Mentor's shadow..."

Naclis had already come to terms with this.

"Also, she's told me some things. She said her relationship with Master Mentor is actually closer than mine, that she walked ahead of me..."

Mirrorheart's words were basically an explicit hint at this point, but Naclis still couldn't fully understand.

"How about this, go find Anna, and have Anna give you lessons.

"Now Anna has walked ahead of you too, she should be quite happy to teach you."

Looking at Naclis's confused eyes, Mirrorheart sighed with feeling:

"It really is just full of a sense of destiny..."

"..."

Naclis didn't understand what Mirrorheart was feeling sentimental about. She pondered, and in the end still made up her mind.

She chose to leave this room. She really was going to find Anna.

Mirrorheart's words were all vague and misty, but perhaps just by seeing Anna she would know the answer.

Before, Anna had always told her, "Big Sister, you're still young. Some things you'll understand when you grow up." Naclis felt that now, no matter how you looked at it, she counted as grown up, right?

Harboring such feelings, Naclis walked into Anna's room. At this moment, Anna was listening to the Walkman from Naclis's home.

"Naclis? What did you come to find me for..."

Halfway through her sentence, Anna suddenly revealed a wicked grin. She had guessed something.

Then Anna immediately took off her headphones, looking like she was all ears.
