Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted
Chapter 659: The Wrath Witch
"Where is she now?"
Now that there was finally news about the Wrath Witch, Loren felt a surge of excitement.
Once he had the Wrath Witch, Loren would have gathered all Seven Sins Witches.
There was just one thing Loren didn't know whether to be happy or sad about. From Reflection Naclis's description, the current Wrath Witch had already turned dark.
The turned-dark Wrath Witch was just as easy to win over, so that part Loren wasn't worried about.
It was just that Loren felt she was somewhat pitiful. The other witches had been living the good life following Loren, and in the end, they had only turned dark because of Loren's death. She herself hadn't actually suffered much.
"She's in a city. That's where she most recently revived. The Church members who went to suppress her were all killed, and the residents fled. That city has become a dead city.
"Moreover, after this revival, her strength increased considerably. The Church sent the same configuration this time as the one that killed her last time, but this time she slaughtered them all.
"So the Church speculated that she grows stronger with each revival. Therefore, this time the Church didn't kill her, but instead chose to besiege her within this city.
"And she hasn't made any moves either, just hiding somewhere without any intention of leaving."Reflection Naclis continued to brief Loren on the situation. The intelligence she had obtained was indeed considerable. Normally, something like this should have been sealed off by the Church.
After all, for the grand Church of Light and Fire to be helpless against a single witch was utterly humiliating.
"It's not that she grows stronger from dying, but that the deeper people's fear of her runs, the stronger she becomes.
"No matter how tightly the Church seals things off, there will still be quite a few people who know of her existence. Especially after learning of her terrifying combat power and revival ability, people's fear of her will only grow stronger and stronger.
"And her revival ability also depends on people's fear of her. As long as there are still people who fear her, she will not die."
"That's... isn't that invincible?"
Anna remarked with emotion. This Arcane Ability was absurdly powerful.
Compared to her Arcane Ability, everyone present's Arcane Abilities didn't amount to much. Only Scarlett's Arcane Ability could compare, but Scarlett's intelligence wasn't enough to properly use her own Arcane Ability.
"In theory, she is indeed invincible... but I do have a way to deal with her."
To deal with the Wrath Witch, one had to figure out her Arcane Ability, but her Arcane Ability was very difficult to figure out.
Just as the Church currently believed, they simply assumed the Wrath Witch's Arcane Ability was revival and growing stronger after revival.
To deal with her, one could do what they were doing now, controlling her, then constantly spreading propaganda about her weakness, even portraying her as a comedic figure.
Once people's fear of her gradually faded, one could then make a move and kill her completely.
"With her Arcane Ability, plus my reputation, by then she will become terrifyingly strong."
Even among the Seven Sins Witches, the Wrath Witch's combat power was on a crushing level.
"Do you remember where she is? Let's go find her directly."
Loren had just recovered Naclis, but there was no time to catch up on old times. Loren planned to set out immediately.
Delays invited complications. If something could be done on the spot, Loren would absolutely never put it off. If any unexpected change occurred, it would be over.
"I remember. She's right over here."
Reflection Naclis didn't dawdle either, immediately pointing Loren in the direction.
"Good. You come with me. Everyone else stays here."
The place where the Wrath Witch was located was inside the Church's encirclement. In such a dangerous place, Loren couldn't possibly let the other witches follow him into danger.
"Mm."
Reflection Naclis happily stood by Loren's side, holding his arm, looking intimately close.
Reflection Naclis rested her head on Loren's shoulder, her gaze toward Naclis carrying a hint of provocation.
"..."
Naclis felt somewhat regretful. They had just reunited, and there hadn't even been time to catch up before Loren was setting out again.
"Naclis."
Just as Naclis was lost in thought, she heard Loren's call. When she came back to her senses, Loren was already standing in front of her.
Then Loren kissed Naclis on the forehead, and Naclis's heartbeat instantly began to accelerate:
"You've just awakened and are still very weak. Be good and wait for me here. I'll be back soon."
"Okay..."
Naclis responded, then watched as Loren flew away with Reflection Naclis.
"Don't worry. I can see Loren's location at any time. If anything happens, I'll know."
Laila saw through Naclis's worry and comforted her, but she herself wasn't doing much better.
Ever since reuniting with Loren, as long as Loren disappeared from Laila's sight, she would feel uneasy.
Because of this, even if she was halfway through sleeping, she would suddenly jolt awake and come check on Loren to confirm he was fine.
...
"This is the place."
This was a dead city. Quite a few Church members were stationed around it, and the entire city was surrounded by a dividing line.
The dividing line was something like a warning tape, except it was covered in densely packed eyes. If anything crossed the warning line, the Church members would know immediately.
Inside the warning line, there were many corpses. These corpses had been piled up for who knew how long and had already begun to stink.
Judging by their clothing, these corpses were all Church members. There were basically no civilians among them, and quite a few Sun-Chasers were mixed in as well.
At the same time, there were many houses destroyed by battle. Loren guessed this was where the Angels had been defeated.
"Are we just going to have to search slowly... in such a big city..."
Loren had already been circling in the sky with Reflection Naclis for a while, and had not discovered any clues.
Loren remembered that the Wrath Witch was just a little loli, not tall, and very easy to hide in all kinds of crevices.
"There is another way, but it requires the main body to temporarily lose consciousness and concentrate the power in me."
"Can you pass information to Naclis?"
"Yes. We are linked in our hearts and minds. I can transmit my thoughts to her remotely."
"Good, then let's do that."
Loren brought Reflection Naclis back down to the ground, and immediately afterward she became dim.
Then, her body transformed into shadow. When she touched the shadow of a house, the house's shadow suddenly began to move.
That wasn't all. The house's shadow touched other shadows, and the touched shadows came alive as well.
Spreading continuously like this, in the end the shadows of the entire city came under Reflection Naclis's control.
She tried her best to keep the disturbance minimal so that others wouldn't notice, though the people here were unlikely to pay attention to shadows anyway. During this period, Reflection Naclis's activities had left not a single trace.
"Found her! She's hiding inside a box!
"She's right over there!"
"..."
Loren wasn't too excited. He just felt the child was somewhat pitiful.
The city was completely empty, yet she hadn't gone to occupy anyone else's house. Instead, she had found a box to hide in.
