Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted
Chapter 613: I Want You All to Become Gods
"I didn't expect we'd have to set out on a journey again."
During the meal, Loren informed the others about the news of searching for the mythical creature.
This time, Loren and the others were going to find the Ember Soil Worm, the mythical creature specifically targeting the God of Plague.
Its location was in the desert, and the desert sat at the edge of the God of Bountiful Harvest's territory.
That place wasn't originally a desert, but the God of Bountiful Harvest had drained all its bountifulness, turning it into one.
"We get to go out and play with you again!"
Anna wasn't nervous at all. It didn't matter where she went, as long as she could be with Loren.
Even though this trip had a high chance of facing an Orthodox God head-on.
"If we really do take down an Orthodox God, it will definitely arouse the suspicion of the other Orthodox Gods.
"Breaking the balance among the Orthodox Gods is a small matter, what I'm afraid of is the other gods joining forces against us again..."Loren looked rather solemn, having barely touched the food in front of him:
"Right now, I have two plans.
"First, we wait until we've gathered all the materials for the Severance Ritual before striking at the Orthodox Gods, taking them all down at once!"
Even without their authority, the Orthodox Gods were still incredibly powerful. After all, they'd lived for tens of thousands of years.
So this plan was somewhat difficult.
"Second, I want you all to become gods."
"What?"
Veronica suddenly stopped eating, a little confused about how they could possibly become gods.
Anna, on the other hand, wasn't overly surprised. Loren had already explained the principle behind how the Orthodox Gods became gods.
They stole authority, then used faith to bind themselves to that authority, thereby becoming gods.
If the Orthodox Gods could steal authority, then so could they.
After killing an Orthodox God, they could take their authority.
"Starnight's situation gave me an inspiration. Witches have an extremely high compatibility with authority, they don't even need to bind it with faith.
"As long as you secure the authority, you can use it immediately, with absolutely no worries."
Now Loren understood what the Secret Witch's situation really was. It wasn't that the witches provided enough faith, it was that witches didn't need faith to become gods in the first place.
"So how do we go about obtaining authority? Didn't you say before that when an Orthodox God is killed, their authority returns to the world?"
"That's the problem...
"So for now, we prioritize executing the first plan. Once I find a way for you to become gods, we'll strike at the Orthodox Gods."
Loren took out the tarot cards and looked at them, arranging them all together and studying the patterns on their backs.
But even with tarot cards that had adjacent numbers, the patterns on the backs couldn't be pieced together properly. It seemed that only by collecting all the tarot cards could the secret hidden behind them be revealed.
Loren currently had ten tarot cards. Fortunately, he knew the whereabouts of quite a few others.
Not to mention the Death Card that was currently hunting him down, the Emperor Card was in the hands of some tyrant, the Wheel of Fortune belonged to a powerful mage... these were all figures who'd appeared during the Divine War. Loren could simply wait for them to show up and snatch the cards by force.
Loren had lost his status now, so it wasn't very convenient for him to actively seek them out.
But even if Loren still had his status, he probably wouldn't have asked the Church to find them. The fewer people who knew about the tarot cards, the better, that was the consensus among all tarot card holders.
Loren had a feeling that the tarot cards very likely held the key to becoming a god.
Name: Loren
Level: 54 (30%)
Strength: 10
Stamina: 46
Agility: 28
Intelligence: 58
Mana: 5500/5580
Remaining Attribute Points: 0

Curses: [Shattered Love] [Scorn of All Beings]

Loren opened the Panel and took a look. The accessory slot, which used to be completely full, now only had the Weeping Blood Wedding Ring, an accessory with no positive effects whatsoever.
As long as no one else chose to accept the curse of the Weeping Blood Wedding Ring, this curse would follow Loren forever, and it even took up one of his accessory slots.
The accessory slot issue could be solved by completely destroying the Weeping Blood Wedding Ring, but then the curse would stick with Loren for the rest of his life.
As long as the Female Pope Card was still in his possession, the curse wasn't really a problem. At worst, it just made him a bit less flexible.
But Loren wasn't short on accessory slots right now, so there was no need to destroy the Weeping Blood Wedding Ring.
By the time everyone else had finished eating, Loren finally snapped back to reality. He'd been so lost in thought that he'd forgotten to eat.
Only then did Loren start wolfing down his food.
"Pack your things. We set out tomorrow."
Now that he knew about Starnight's ability, travel had become much more convenient. They could simply have Starnight transform into a dragon and carry them through the sky.
This was also where Starnight's Arcane Ability surpassed the World Card. The World Card could only grant abilities, it couldn't make the user grow larger.
"I don't really have anything to pack either."
Anna shared the same mindset as Loren. When going out, all you needed was your weapon. Everything else could be looted on the spot.
The Scythe of Harvest rarely left Anna's hand, so she didn't need to pack anything at all.
The others were about the same as Anna. Veronica had absolutely nothing to her name, so there was nothing she needed to bring. If she had to say something, it would be the Dull Light that Loren had given her.
"If we leave, what if someone comes back looking for us?"
Anna suddenly raised the question, but Loren had naturally already considered this:
"We'll just leave some traces of my return. They'll wait for me here.
"That way, even if the Church sends people to sneak into our home while we're away, they won't find anything."
That kind of thing was unlikely to happen anyway. Anna had already killed so many Church members that none of them dared to set foot in the Gedlan Kingdom anymore. But that didn't stop Loren from preparing for the worst.
"What kind of traces would be most appropriate to leave behind?"
Veronica started thinking, but Anna had already come up with a method:
"Why don't we go play all over the place? That way, we can leave traces everywhere..."
"..."
Loren knocked Anna on the head, cutting off her speech.
Mirrorheart refused to let Anna steal the spotlight like that, and proposed an even more outrageous method:
"They're quite familiar with me, you know. You can just toss my eyes around everywhere. It's equally safe, and even if the Church finds them, they'll think Anna was performing some kind of evil ritual here."
As she spoke, Mirrorheart pried her own eyelid open, signaling Loren to dig out her eyes:
"Besides, an eye socket is also a hole. Don't you want to give it a try?"
This had been Mirrorheart's dream for a very long time, the one thing Loren absolutely could never fulfill.
"Both of you, shut up."
Loren pictured that scene in his head and felt a shiver of dread.
These two maniacs were hopeless...
