Chapter 157 -122: Stuart, Princess of the Fallen Kingdom (3)

“What happens if you fail your mission?”

“I’ll be sent to a man’s Heaven, and a woman’s Hell.”

Nancy Scalia had seen the final fate of spies who failed their missions. It was a fate worse than death.

“You have two paths now.”

Lian released Nancy Scalia’s chin and said slowly,

“First, you can continue your mission. Become the filthy person you most despise. I will never accept you. I, Lian Moria, do not lack for women, and certainly not for damaged goods. You can’t threaten me. Your beauty is indeed alluring, but I care more about value and profit. If I were a man blinded by lust, I would have been surrounded by wives and concubines long ago.”

Lian subconsciously glanced at Annie and Dora.

The two ladies immediately flushed, though what they were thinking was anyone’s guess.

Lian continued,

“Second, you can seek my help and escape Mary’s control. The price is your eternal Loyalty to me, never to betray me. You can remain that pure, untainted maiden, with no need to please anyone with your body—including me.”

Hearing that Lian might keep Nancy Scalia by his side, Dora and Annie instinctively grew displeased.

Annie promptly poured Lian a cup of scalding hot tea.

Dora folded her arms and glowered at Lian, her eyes conveying a clear message: If he betrayed Catherine, they would become mortal enemies.

Lian didn’t reach for the scalding tea and chose to ignore Dora’s hostile gaze. A sense of absurdity suddenly washed over him.

‘My fiancée isn’t even here,’ he thought, ‘so why is her shadow everywhere?’

“You can’t save me.”

Nancy Scalia stated flatly.

“Aren’t you curious why Annie is still alive?”

Lian asked. He had already guessed that Mary wouldn’t spare the spies in the Green Shade Territory, because they had given her nothing but misleading information.

Therefore, Mary, who held their very hearts in her grasp, had likely hunted them down and killed them all.

Nancy Scalia gave a slight nod. “Tell me, why is Annie still alive?”

“I can kill the Heartless, and I can save them.”

“No wonder the heads of half the Assassins sent after you were returned.”

Nancy Scalia murmured to herself.

She was starting to believe that Lian might actually be able to save her—at least, he could stop her from being a person without a heart.

“No matter who I serve, I’ll be reduced to a tool. What makes you any different from Mary?”

Nancy Scalia asked.

“What if I told you I hate war and the Frank Clan as much as you do? Their iron heel has crushed countless homes and Kingdoms, filling the Wilderness with refugees and vagrants. Nancy Stuart, I sympathize with you. I believe you despise Mary and the atrocities she committed in Yusofa as much as I do. We have a common enemy. Catherine today is where you were yesterday. Don’t let the Stuart tragedy happen all over again.”

Nancy Scalia froze.

It had been a long time since she’d heard anyone speak her real name.

It was a name she herself had almost forgotten.

‘This man before me knows my true identity,’ she thought. ‘Who is he?’

Nancy Scalia’s eyes began to redden.

She thought she had no more tears to shed, but hearing the name Stuart, she still couldn’t conceal the pain in her heart. It was the bitterness of a fallen kingdom, the anguish of a shattered family and a lost home.

She recalled the High Priest’s dying words to her:

“My Princess, Nancy Stuart, you must survive. One day, a Knight in shining Armor will come to rescue you from the depths of despair. He will know your true identity. He will become the light of your life, and he will help you achieve the great task of restoring your Kingdom.”
