Chapter 92 The Emperor Roasts Khorne's Demons

  • Next Chapter

The demonic forces that had breached Terra and launched the brutal assault on the Lion’s Gate were exclusively from Khorne’s legions.

However, the other three Chaos Gods were absolutely keeping a close eye on the battlefield.

If an opportunity presented itself, they were more than happy to swoop in and grab a slice of the pie.

Because of this, the absolute second the Emperor materialized on the battlefield, the other three Ruinous Powers instantly noticed. Every single one of them was left utterly dumbfounded.

The triad of dark gods immediately locked their gaze onto Vane, who was gleefully slaughtering his way through the bloodbath, and instantly deduced the answer.

It has to be the work of that terrifying Evil Outer God!

If things kept escalating at this rate, in a few months at most, this dimensional anomaly would likely kick down the doors to their own realms!

The guy’s methods were simply too incomprehensibly broken.

They needed Erebus to hurry up and figure out a way to pull the “Anathema” over to their side.

Ideally, they needed the Emperor to pull a Horus and backstab his new benefactor.

The Emperor, of course, had zero idea what the four Chaos Gods were plotting. If he did, this is probably what he would say.

You violently invade my Imperium, constantly corrupt my citizens, and gleefully devour humanity’s flesh and souls.

Meanwhile, this guy literally crossed space and time to hand-deliver god-tier weapons and gear to my people.

He helped me save my sons, completely healed my fatal wounds, and personally dragged me off that damn Golden Throne.

After all the apocalyptic bullshit you four have pulled, you seriously think you can recruit me to fight him? Are you completely out of your minds?!

Flanked by two of his Primarch sons and his loyal Custodes, the Emperor strode onto the battlefield.

Much like his elite guards, the Emperor was clad in resplendent golden armor. In one hand, he tightly gripped his flaming longsword; on the other arm, he wore a massive, crackling power claw.

The moment the Emperor stepped onto the front lines, the Khornate demonic formation instantly shattered into absolute chaos.

A fraction of the demons completely broke rank and attempted to flee in terror. The rest turned on their own kind, viciously tearing each other apart to frantically devour their essence, hoping to amass enough power to actually launch an attack against the Emperor.

The Greater Daemons of Khorne unleashed terrifying, blood-curdling roars, hefting massive battleaxes and hellblades as they desperately charged the Anathema.

Countless lesser demons shrieked in unison, forming a tidal wave of twisted flesh and jagged metal that swept directly toward the Master of Mankind.

The Emperor wrapped both hands firmly around the hilt of his sword. Channeling his absolute will, the blade erupted in blinding fire, unleashing rolling waves of searing heat that distorted the air itself.

He raised the flaming blade high and brought it down in a devastating arc, unleashing a terrifying torrent of psychic fire.

In a fraction of a second, countless demons were incinerated into towering pillars of flame. Their ethereal flesh violently sloughed off whatever passed for their bones.

Simultaneously, countless ethereal figures began stepping out of the roaring flames.

Clad in burning armor and wielding blazing blades and axes, they were the heroic souls of those who had sacrificed themselves for the Emperor in the past.

Now, summoned by the Emperor’s indomitable will, the Legion of the Damned charged forward to slaughter the demons pouring into reality.

A massive, hulking Greater Daemon of Khorne roared as it met the Emperor head-on, swinging its colossal battleaxe in a desperate bid to claim the Anathema’s head for its master.

But the charging Greater Daemon couldn’t even survive a single exchange. The Emperor’s form blurred in a flash of golden light.

The massive, horned head cleanly detached from the demon’s neck, hitting the ground with a heavy, sickening thud.

The headless Greater Daemon dropped to its knees, instantly igniting into a towering, burning torch as countless embers drifted into the air.

Another Greater Daemon, completely devoid of fear, launched a suicidal charge at the Emperor.

But the moment it closed the distance, the Emperor simply vanished.

A split second later, the Master of Mankind reappeared directly behind the massive beast. His flaming longsword effortlessly pierced straight through the demon’s spine.

Terrifying psychic fire immediately erupted outward, completely incinerating the Greater Daemon’s body from the inside out.

Sanguinius and Guilliman flanked the Emperor, their weapons acting as deadly blurs as they ruthlessly executed any demon that managed to slip past their father’s wrath.

The Custodes followed closely behind in a tight, impenetrable phalanx, driving into the demon horde like an unstoppable spearhead.

“For the Emperor!”

A rallying cry tore from the defenders manning the walls, and the Imperial troops immediately surged forward in a massive counter-charge.

The demonic army was mercilessly beaten back, their lines completely collapsing into a routed, panicked mess.

Grand Master Voldus and his Grey Knights watched with absolute shock. This was the first time they had ever witnessed a demonic incursion of this magnitude being actively pushed back in a straight-up frontal assault. They were utterly awestruck by the sheer, unbridled power of the Emperor.

They knew exactly how terrifyingly powerful Khorne’s Greater Daemons were.

According to the Imperium’s ancient records, every single time a Greater Daemon of Khorne breached reality, the Imperium was forced to pay an astronomically heavy toll in blood just to banish it.

Yet, these apocalyptic entities capable of glassing entire planets couldn’t even survive a single strike when faced with the Emperor.

No wonder the demons hated the Emperor with such unholy passion. They had literally been slaughtered into absolute terror!

The Emperor unleashed his limitless fury upon the demonic tide. Wherever he stepped, demons simply spontaneously combusted, turning into clouds of drifting ash and embers.

Retreat.

Deep within his realm, Khorne violently ordered his demonic lieutenants to sound the drums of retreat and pull his legions back.

With the ‘Anathema’ present, throwing more troops into the meat grinder was completely pointless. It was better to pull back and preserve what forces remained.

The Emperor, flanked by his Primarchs and the Imperial forces, pushed forward with unstoppable momentum, literally rolling over the demonic lines. Ultimately, they physically stepped onto the Blood God’s Brass Domain, which was currently bleeding over and overlapping with realspace.

Gazing out across the crimson wasteland littered with shattered bones and rusted weapons, the Emperor gripped his sword tightly, his eyes locking onto the colossal, imposing fortress in the distance.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone present, the Emperor raised his blazing sword high. A towering, endlessly churning wave of fire swept aggressively across the Brass Domain, ripping agonizing shrieks from countless demons caught in the blast.

A roar of pure, unadulterated fury echoed from within the terrifyingly massive Brass Citadel—a roar so violently powerful it caused the legs of every mortal present to turn to jelly.

Completely ignoring Khorne’s wrath, the Emperor continued to channel his raw psychic might.

His majestic form began to glow, radiating an unbelievably brilliant light that rivaled the combined output of a million suns.

The very next second, the Emperor swung his blade. A colossal dragon woven from pure, psychic fire surged forward, tearing a massive rift through the crimson earth. The psychic inferno caused the rivers of blood to boil away and instantly incinerated the mountains of bone into ash.

“Consider this a warning, Blood God. Your era has officially come to an end.”

“For far too long, you and your kin have toyed with the sentient races of the material universe. But this time, there will be a final reckoning.”

“Today is merely the beginning. Very soon, my vast armies will set forth once again, violently purging every single temple and cult that dares to worship you.”

“And when the time is right, I will carve my way into your domain, sever your head from your shoulders, and permanently end this war.”

“Remember this well: that day is rapidly approaching.”
