Wielding his Nemesis Force Halberd, Vane charged into the demon horde like a rampaging tank, sweeping aside every enemy in his path.

Not a single demon could withstand even one of his attacks.

Lightning crackled along the halberd’s blade as it carved brilliant silver-white arcs through the air. Wherever the weapon passed, demonic bodies split apart as easily as tofu.

A massive demon suddenly lunged at him from the side.

Without even turning his head, Vane thrust his halberd backward.

The blade pierced the creature’s chest with pinpoint accuracy.

Psychic flames erupted from the weapon, spreading through the demon’s body and burning it to ashes from the inside out.

Another demon leaped down from above, its razor-sharp claws aimed directly at Vane’s head.

Vane raised his halberd horizontally to block the attack.

CLANG!

The claws struck the weapon with an ear-piercing metallic screech.

In the next instant, Vane twisted his wrist and spun the halberd, sending the demon flying into the distant horde.

Its massive body crashed through several other demons, knocking them down like bowling pins.

Meanwhile, Steve stood behind Vane, using an enchanted Netherite Sword to cut down any demons attempting to attack from his blind spots.

Together, Vane and his Stand fought in perfect synchronization.

The Doom Slayer wasn’t exactly sitting around either.

His Super Shotgun roared continuously, each blast tearing enormous holes through the demons and sometimes bringing down several monsters with a single shot.

His chainsaw screamed as it ripped through anything foolish enough to charge him, splitting demons down the middle and sending blood spraying everywhere.

The demons seemed endless.

They poured in from every direction, an overwhelming tide of claws, fangs, and monstrous bodies.

But against two killing machines like Vane and the Doom Slayer, numbers meant absolutely nothing.

After a brutal slaughter, the demons finally broke.

Their furious roars turned into terrified howls as they began retreating.

Soon, they were trampling over one another in a desperate attempt to escape deeper into the Foundry Fortress.

Vane lowered his halberd and flicked the black blood from its blade.

Then he turned toward the Doom Slayer.

The green-armored warrior had also stopped fighting.

He stood motionless atop a pile of mangled demon corpses, his armor drenched in blood.

Hearing Vane approach, the Doom Slayer turned his helmet toward him.

“Who are you?”

“Just a traveler passing through.”

Vane answered with a lighthearted smile, sounding more like someone enjoying a casual afternoon stroll than a man standing in the middle of Hell.

“Besides, you and I have the same goal.”

“We’re both here to shut down the portal connecting Hell to the human world.”

The Doom Slayer silently examined Vane’s Aegis Terminator Armour and the Nemesis Force Halberd still burning with psychic flames.

He didn’t recognize any of the equipment.

But there was one thing he understood perfectly.

The hatred of demons.

That was something he knew better than anyone.

And as far as the Doom Slayer was concerned, anyone who hated demons enough to slaughter them was someone worth trusting.

Without another word, he turned and headed deeper into the Foundry Fortress.

Vane followed, with Steve trailing close behind.

The demons along their route had already lost the will to fight.

The moment they spotted the two armored warriors approaching, they fled in terror.

Occasionally, a particularly stupid demon would gather enough courage to attack.

Those unfortunate creatures were promptly butchered.

The efficiency with which the two warriors dispatched their enemies was almost absurd.

After passing through one enormous lava pipeline after another, they finally reached the core of the Foundry Fortress.

An immense hall constructed from black stone stretched out before them.

Its floor was covered in demonic runes that glowed with an ominous crimson light.

The vaulted ceiling rose so high that its upper reaches disappeared into darkness.

Countless iron chains hung from above, suspending the skeletal remains of creatures from various species.

And at the center of this horrifying chamber stood an enormous throne.

It had been constructed from black metal and fused bones, giving it the appearance of something assembled from the corpses of countless victims.

Seated upon it was a terrifying Demon Lord.

The creature wore armor covered in infernal runes, while a pair of monstrous horns protruded from its head.

Its eyes burned crimson, radiating endless malice.

The Doom Slayer suddenly stopped walking.

His gaze settled on the creature occupying the throne.

Vane noticed his reaction.

“You know that thing?”

“It’s the Icon of Sin. The son of someone I once knew…”

The Doom Slayer began recounting a tragic story from his past.

After repelling Hell’s second invasion, the Doom Slayer had remained trapped in the infernal dimension.

And naturally, he’d spent his days doing what he did best.

Killing demons.

Day after day, he slaughtered anything that crossed his path.

Eventually, the demons couldn’t take it anymore.

Desperate to get rid of the unstoppable killing machine terrorizing their realm, they set a trap and tricked him into falling through a gateway within Hell.

Passing through that gateway, the Doom Slayer arrived on a strange world known as Argent D’Nur.

There, he joined the Night Sentinels, an order of warriors belonging to the planet’s native people.

Together, they fought against the forces of Hell.

The people of Argent D’Nur followed two major faiths.

The first centered around the Maykrs, an incredibly advanced species originating from another world.

Possessing technology far beyond anything the people of Argent D’Nur could comprehend, the Maykrs were worshipped as gods.

The second faith revered the Wraiths, mysterious beings capable of granting the planet’s inhabitants elemental powers.

For a time, both beliefs coexisted.

But everything changed when the Night Sentinels began investigating the demonic invasions threatening their world.

During their investigation, they uncovered a horrifying secret.

The Maykrs, the very beings they had worshipped as gods, were secretly working alongside Hell.

The two factions were partners in everything but name.

The Maykrs provided Hell with new civilizations to invade.

The demons slaughtered those populations, harvesting countless souls and using them to produce Argent Energy.

In return, the Maykrs received a portion of the energy generated through this horrific process.

The gods of Argent D’Nur had been feeding entire civilizations to Hell for power.

When the truth came to light, a faction of the planet’s inhabitants abandoned their faith in the Maykrs.

Instead, they devoted themselves entirely to the Wraiths and vowed to resist both Hell and their former gods.

This religious division eventually plunged Argent D’Nur into civil war.

Hoping to end the conflict, the Night Sentinels planned to invade the depths of Hell and destroy the Argent Energy factories hidden there.

But they were betrayed.

The priests of their own order had been seduced by promises of immortality.

In exchange for eternal life, the priests betrayed the Night Sentinels and imprisoned the Wraiths, cutting the warriors off from their divine support.

Without the Wraiths’ power, the Night Sentinels were overwhelmed.

The demons massacred them.

And the tragedy didn’t end there.

The creature now known as the Icon of Sin had once been the son of Valen, one of the Night Sentinels’ commanders.

Devastated by his son’s death, Valen had been manipulated into betraying his comrades.

The demons promised to bring his child back.

But as anyone familiar with Hell might expect, they had absolutely no intention of honoring that promise.

Instead, they transformed his son into the Icon of Sin.

The revelation completely shattered Valen.

Overwhelmed by grief, guilt, and despair, the former commander eventually lost his sanity and condemned himself to eternal exile in Hell.
