Chapter 105: Exposed

"Sly? Sly?"

Blinking, Sly focused on Khaldun’s face, his body leaned towards Sly, while his hands gripped Sly’s shoulders with a bit of force.

After delivering Sly to Khaldun as promised Jack left to go check on Cassian who was staying overnight at the Paradise Campus Hospital and the friends had parted ways.

The pair had been walking towards the spirit gym when Sly just suddenly stopped walking.

They were standing in the middle of the market surrounded by the usual vendors trying to get a sale from their stalls.

Khaldun asked gently, "Sly, are you alright?"

"Mim.... oh I guess so." Sly stopped himself from almost speaking Mimosa’s name out loud he had not confided to Khaldun or anyone else about his spirit guardian just like he promised Mimosa.

Still it felt like something was wrong with his spirit guardian and he saw a vision he didn’t know how to explain but it felt like he had been in Mimosa’s past.

"Do you want to go home instead of the spirit gym today?"

Khaldun was acting more like a caring boyfriend in this moment than the usual harsh, ruthless alpha sentinel who was always adamant about enforcing training.

For a few minutes Sly experienced a softer side of Khaldun who was becoming more caring and concerned.

Feeling Khaldun’s worried gaze on him made something deep within flutter inside of Sly, it felt kind of silly to feel butterflies in the stomach.

This was not something to get emotional over but Sly couldn’t help it Khaldun was just simply too handsome for his own benefit.

Sly was really starting to feel like he had captured the heart of Paradise Military Academy’s number one antisocial legend according to Cassian.

A legend known for breaking the hearts of guides, both beta and omega’s alike, one who was supposedly going to leave Sly in the same sort of misery.

"Yeah," replied Sly. "I’ll be fine, don’t worry about me."

Finally they reached the spirit gym and Sly was told to wear that same special workout suit that was supposed to monitor and protect his vitals.

As Sly forced himself into the suit, his muscles started to rebel as if to inform and protest against Sly overworking his body.

They certainly didn’t want to go through any more exercise for the rest of the day.

Sly tried to faint feeling sick but as usual Khaldun could always tell when he was lying and didn’t fall for it.

So Sly told him that he ran ten laps at top speed and also played several basketball matches until his team took the number one spot. ℴℴ𝘮

Khaldun still wasn’t swayed so he resorted to begging not wanting to mention that he also had a throwdown with Victor in the locker room.

Sly knew that Khaldun would not approve of him getting into unnecessary fights while still in his probationary period.

If word ever reached Dean Drakos ears Sly could get expelled.

But he was sure that Victor’s pride was so wounded that he would never come forward and report Sly, not when he started the altercation first.

"Ughhhh..." groaned Sly, his wrist from where he punched Victor earlier still felt sore.

Khaldun laughed when Sly groaned loudly, Sly frowned at him; there was nothing funny about his current situation.

Sly asked helplessly, "What’s so funny?"

"Juddging by your groans and complaints," Khaldun said, his smile dropping, "it seems you were actually serious about wanting a break."

"Duhhhh..." reacted Sly. "I’ve been on a rollercoaster of activities ever since I entered Paradise Military Academy. Even Verde gave me a break after the wasp incident. So since we are both finally on the same page, why not skip today’s training and just let me get some sleep," whined Sly.

Something Sly said seemed to have triggered Khaldun in the worst way possible,

Khaldun’s earlier look of concern was now gone as he folded his arms and stared down at Sly.

No longer joking around, the smile was gone and Khaldun was definitely all business now, his face all serious.

"What about your earlier complaint? Is it still affecting you right now?"

"No... my spirit landscape seems to have settled down nicely."

"What about the workout you got today."

"My muscles ache in places I never knew existed."

"Understood, if we don’t do something about it right now then you’ll only feel worse tomorrow."

Sly’s eyes lit up; it sounded like Khaldun was going to give him a reprieve.

Khaldun followed up with, "so now is a good time to start a new workout regiment in preparation for the upcoming trials."

Crestfallen, all of Sly’s efforts were futile and his hope was dashed, Sly muttered, "what kind of faulty asshole logic is that."

Sly wasn’t even given a chance to plead his case any further as Khaldun ushered him out of the changing room and into the recently renovated weight room.

Khaldun showed Sly the weights to use for his height and physique and patiently explained how to use them properly without straining himself.

When Sly asked questions he answered modestly and didn’t mind repeating himself until Sly understood what Khaldun expected of him.

Sly started doing the reps Khaldun expected him to do, while Sly was struggling to complete the reps.

Khadun sat in the corner playing one of those new fancy games JJ had installed on his spiritbracelet.

Looking on enviously, Sly muttered under his breath, "some legend."

His adoring fans should see him giggling hysterically while goofing off in the corner, they would never believe it was the same person.

When Sly finally finished, Khaldun didn’t even allow him a water break, just stood beside Sly and demonstrated a few cooldown stretches.

"I hear you ended up as Prince Auroron’s bodyguard whenever he’s on campus, is that true?"

A glint of something, perhaps jealously, flashed in his eyes, but then it disappeared as quickly as it appeared.

Khaldun’s mood dropped significantly, his face grew dark. "Someone or some group is targeting the Royal Alpha’s. They killed Prince Auroron’s chief bodyguard recently, so whenever the Prince is on campus, Count Drakos assigned me to him for added protection, as his cousin it won’t look out of the ordinary for me to be by his side."

Suddenly Khadun fell silent as if regretting that he had exposed those few details to Sly, his mind was obviously somewhere else.

Khaldun had really dropped a bombshell on Sly, if word got out that Royal Alpha’s were being targeted it would be a circus on social media.
