Chapter 1339: Disappointed

’So these are the crystals that can improve comprehension,’ Anthony thought to himself. ’Unfortunately for them, it seems these crystals only work together with the assigned Law Fruit... although there may be crystals that function independently,’ he thought to himself and turned away from the Death Apple.

His Law Of Death was already over seventy percent at the moment, so he had no need for the Death Apple. Besides, the thought of dying, then resurrecting and possessing forty percent comprehension was a red flag for him. What happened during the time of death? Would he become a slave to someone like the God of Death, or would he serve someone like Thanathos?

He shook his head and continued to look around, as he knew he could get his Law Of Death to the Embodiment Stage with enough effort.

As he walked, Anthony came to a stop at another section of the large vault of treasures that contained written secrets. He gazed around, his eyes falling on various old scrolls that seemed as though they could crumble to dust at any time. He picked up a few, read through them, then dropped them without a change in expression.

Secrets of the old had nothing to do with him. To him, they were just bedtime stories and fairy tales, although he knew they were real.

Through one of these scrolls, The Lover Of Death had accounted for his own life, and to Anthony’s surprise, the man was from the Oni race. As for The Lover Of Death’s life, Anthony could only describe it with one phrase: Aura Farmer.

The man accounted for his battles, even filling visions of his own battles into the scrolls for the reader to witness. Of course, Anthony had verified all this information himself through the Authority Of Information and Thought Conception.

The Lover Of Death stood undefeated throughout his life. He had never lost a single fight, escaped from any battlefield, or used any life-saving items. The Oni would truly die or kill his opponent. He wore the mantle of the Law Of Death and personified it.

Anthony couldn’t help but suspect that The Lover Of Death was an anomaly like him. Of course, not on the same level, after all, all Anomalies were different. But it didn’t matter whether the man was or wasn’t; it didn’t change his undefeated feat, which made even the hardened Anthony believe that the man didn’t die.

Anthony couldn’t help but sigh after looking around. With this amount of treasure, the Null Sect’s power would take a giant leap. Various Outer Elders, Inner Elders, and Core Elders would step into various realms of power. Even Chaos Betroth, who was stuck at fifty-one percent of her Universal Law Of Chaos, would benefit, as he had seen a Law Note on the Universal Law Of Chaos, something Chaos Betroth herself didn’t have.

Although there was no Law Land for her, the Law Lands for Death, Bloodshed, and the likes would do, as all that came under the title of chaos.

As he was done walking around, he snapped his fingers, and a sort of telekinetic force spread outwards. The moment it covered the entire vault, the treasures surged towards him as though he was a magnet. The moment they got close to him, they all vanished into the system inventory. Although he didn’t personally need anything here, he was never going to leave a single thing. Not even a single speck of dust would be left behind.

Within a couple of seconds, the entire place was wiped clean. Although it seemed like a normal vault, this place was as large as the entire Null Sect, if not larger. It was simply the amount of space needed to hold treasures and a testament to how rich The Lover Of Death truly was.

After taking all the treasures, Anthony sighed and turned around, heading towards the position he had entered from. Although the portal was no longer there, he knew that when he got there, the water portal would open yet again.

Anthony had a bit of disappointment on his face. Although he tried not to show it, it was there. And as for why he was disappointed, the answer was simple. No old man from the dark eons had tried taking over his body or soul or something.

’Isn’t that the whole purpose of secret realms?’ he thought to himself with a mild sigh as he walked.

He shook his head as he walked, cautioning himself to stop seeking death thrills in simple things. As he got to the original position, the water portal tore open, but as he was about to enter it, a voice echoed from behind him.

"You seem rather disappointed, Null Anthony."

The voice was calm, amused, curious, intrigued.

Anthony froze, his eyes flashing with a certain light. His Sense Dome had been active at all times, even until this point, yet he hadn’t sensed whoever had the voice, as though they didn’t exist.

He turned around, his sky-blue eyes landing on a tall man who stood over seven feet tall. The man leaned against the wall, his skin green as though he was a goblin. From his forehead, a single horn extended and curved towards the sky. His eyes were pink, and he didn’t have pupils; instead, he had stars in their place. His hair was pink too, running down his back, scattered yet arranged.

He wore a simple haori, his arms crossed against his chest.

Anthony didn’t need to think or guess to know who this person was. He was the Anomaly, the Undefeated, the owner of this realm, The Lover Of Death.

"Were my treasures that poor?" The Lover Of Death asked with an intriguing expression as he stared into Anthony’s eyes.

Anthony didn’t reply. Even at this moment, his Sense Dome still couldn’t pick up on the man’s presence, as though he didn’t exist. But his eyes told him the man did.

"I had thought that anyone from the Younger Generation that sees such an amount of wealth and knowledge would be fascinated, shocked, or turn greedy like we all do," The Lover Of Death continued.

"But I watched your expression, and I saw none of them. Yes, you were surprised at first, but the surprise was only at the sheer amount of treasures, not because of what they were, as though you couldn’t care less about them and were only taking them because your Organization requested it." He paused for a moment, then added in finality, "So I ask once more, Null Anthony, were my treasures that poor?"

A smile stayed on his lips as he remained against the wall, waiting for an answer. He was simply too eager to hear what this Human had to say. After all, even Eternal Apexes would kill each other and descend into madness for his treasures. The Unknown Grade artefact alone was enough to cause mayhem, let alone the rest.

Anthony’s lips turned into a smile as he spoke, "Indeed, I was only surprised because of the sheer amount of treasures and resources, and not because of what they were or could do," he began to speak as he answered. "And to answer your question, it’s not that your treasures were poor; it’s just that I’m simply too rich to care about the rewards."

Although his words sounded arrogant, he was simply stating the truth.
