Chapter 181: Family Vacation

  • Next Chapter

Third Person P.O.V.

Emma Frost sucks on the straw of her Sea Breeze, ignoring the fact that the beverage is virgin; Eidolon seemingly took it upon himself not to let her consume too much alcohol. Not that she could complain; all the different drinks he prepared for her were delicious beyond anything she had tasted.

From the simple Piña Colada to the Single Sangria, she unelegantly slurped them all down. Foresight must be one of his superpowers, because he also left some snacks for her, so that her stomach would not slosh emptily from all the liquid she was chugging.

She is gonna ask him to teach her the secrets to making those drinks, so she can implant the knowledge in her personal chefs' minds.

From her privileged position under the umbrella - she took enough sunlight already - Emma observes her strange family playing in the sand. Yes, she had already considered the family "hers," with Eidolon included.

The hero is letting the girls do whatever they want on the sand, and he gives them tips on building castles or whatever those bizarre things are. But of course, it seems that even the aloof hero can't resist the temptation to show off to his daughters, and he starts doing some ridiculous things, taking the playtime to another level.

Like building a 3-meter-tall Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Colosseum of Rome, the Taj Mahal, Machu Picchu, and even the Eiffel Tower in some way… All perfect replicas.

He did all that while allowing them to participate, even though the quintuplets caused more trouble than they helped, and he also taught them about those important man-made monuments.

'I am gonna take them there in the future…' Emma thinks, to complete their education.

The girls are still very isolated from the world, which needs to change at some point. She can start by doing something fun and educational. The problem is that she is somewhat famous, and appearing suddenly with five daughters(quintuplets!) will raise some eyebrows.

After showing off, Eidolon went back to help the girls do their own thing, pointing out how to use their plastic tools more effectively to accomplish their desired objective.

He has Celeste hanging on his back like a koala, little arms around his neck. Sophie is still focused on digging a huge hole, sometimes annoyed by Phoebe, who throws sand back into the hole and into her sister's face.

Mindee is most interested in building something on the sand, but Esme is helping too.

They look like they are having fun, and Emma feels that she has had enough of just watching. She is the one who has the girls most of the time, and she thought she could just observe them from afar while enjoying the vacation.

Eidolon in that wetsuit, acting all fatherly, also does things to her… It is cute and endearing… Hot too…

But no… She will not admit it, but she is getting a little jealous. It is harmless. She also wants to be the "fun parent" and can't let herself be sidelined.

Because she has the "custody", she is the one who has to be strict sometimes. As the girls' mother, it falls to her to teach them about girlhood and all that entails.

Of course, she delegates some boring stuff to Isabella, but even so… her image as the less fun parent is slowly being consolidated in front of her own eyes.

Emma Frost will not allow that.

Maybe it's not a competition, but even so, she will not lose anyway.

The White Queen then stands up from her chair, puts her wide-brimmed hat on her head and adjusts her glasses before walking to her children.

The wet sand sinks only slightly under her weight, leaving footprints in her path.

"What are you doing, sweetie?" She asks, crouching down in front of Eidolon and her daughters.

If this position allows the hero to see too much of what is behind her legs, she doesn't mind; it is more of a bonus as she focuses on her girls.

""Houses."" Mindee and Esme answer together.

"More than that, they are making a little town…" Eidolon completes with a proud tone. "I was helping them plan it… See, girls? Houses should be together in blocks so that the streets can connect all of them, and no house should block another exit."

With a glance, Emma can see how chaotic this "town" is. There is no pattern; a block has seven houses lumped together, one in the middle of them, without access to the outside.

Esme is simply turning the bucket with sand down and creating another "house" at a different point. In the meantime, Mindee goes excavating "roads" that curve strangely, making unnecessary circles and sharp turns to nowhere.

"Well… it is unique. I would live in a town like this." Emma smiles widely.

"Me too…" Eidolon agrees. "But I can fly." The joke flies over the girl's head, making only Emma chuckle.

"Aren't you gonna put some houses here?" Emma asks while pointing to a conspicuous open space.

"No." "Park." The girls answer

"Oooh… Makes sense." Emma nods like she just had a big revelation. "Can I help with something?"

To that, Esme presents Emma with a small plastic shovel.

Emma stares at that toy for a long moment, trying to remember if, in her whole life, she ever played in the "dirt," and discovers that she never did. She would remember; she is a telepath after all. Emma can always go back to go through her memories.

"I guess there is a first time for everything." She comments before starting to help her daughter fill her bucket with sand. Being careful to take the "material" from a good distance to not damage the structure of the city, or so her daughter told her.

Emma then sees Esme using her small hands to gather wet sand in a line.

"What is this, sweetie?" She asks

"Wall."

"Oh."

"Keep the monsters away." Esme says a rare full phrase

"Oh! That… also makes a lot of sense." Emma has to admit.

"Any settlement would need walls to defend against the monsters." Eidolon also nods wisely. "Dig a moat around the wall too." He suggests seriously.

Despite this all being literally child's play, Emma starts having fun. Kids can be funny with their unexpected answers and way of seeing things. Playing in the dirt is not something she would enjoy, but interacting with her daughters is fun.

"Maybe your mother can also give some insight on how to make this town cooler?" Eidolon talks with Mindee to include Emma in the little project.

Mindee nods, pausing her creation of new houses to look at her mother.

"Ideas, mama?" The little girl asks

"Well…" Emma considers, happy to be asked. "Maybe we can do something different in each house… putting some shells. To create some uniqueness. Maybe a big building too. Every town needs a big building."

Mindee likes the idea, standing up to look for shells.

"You know a good time to look for shells? At morning…" Eidolon interrupts her. "Why don't we make it like this? Today… this is just a prototype." He gestures to the little town. "Tomorrow we make another one, better. Let's experiment crazily today."

"But I don't wanna make another one…" Mindee pouts

"Oh dear, a sandcastle will not last… It is not meant to last. The waves will wash it away eventually. The fun is in doing it." Eidolon gives her a side hug. "It is hard to part with it initially, but you get used to it. You will get better and better… We can take some pictures to eternalize the moment, and you can always keep it in your memories. Okay?"

"..." Mindee nods after some hesitation

"Wanna try making that big building now?" Eidolon asks with a smile.

She nods again.

"What sort of building do you wanna try?"

"Tower."

"Good choice. Great visibility to see the monsters coming." Eidolon approves

Eidolon then starts helping Mindee put bucket after bucket of sand, one above the other; the tower does not get very tall. Mindee doesn't have Eidolon's skill, which frustrates her.

Eidolon then taught her a trick: placing a stick in the middle to create a better foundation, while also offering another lesson in patience and showing that it is normal not to get something on the first try.

Mindee, now unafraid of messing up her little project, starts doing anything her young mind can think of.

After getting all dirty on the sand, it is time to move the play to the sea and wash off. They take a little break to hydrate themselves and eat some cold watermelon before entering the sea.

Sophie, for example, was disgustingly dirty, with sand on her and her head; she never stopped digging, though.

"Gonna launch Minecraft officially already. The kids yearn for the mines…" Eidolon comments under his breath while helping the girls into the water, carrying them on a floatie bed so they can have fun pretending to be a boat. "Careful…" He warns before a wave

"Sophie, you are so dirty; did you dig up with your own hands?" Emma scrunches her nose, seeing the state of her daughter

"Hehe~" Both Sophie and Phoebe(the one responsible for dirtying her sister) laugh mischievously. No bad blood seems to exist between the two, so neither parent addresses the situation, but they will pay attention just in case. Sibling rivalry is so common that it is almost inevitable.

"Come, girl. Try a little dip." After they reach a level where the water hits an adult's solar plexus, Eidolon stops and urges Sophie to jump. "Close your eyes and your nose with your fingers. And your mouth too!" The last part he needed to say fast because the adventurous girl didn't even hesitate before jumping in a cannonball style.

Eidolon controlled the jump so that she couldn't hurt herself, but the floaties around her biceps didn't allow her dive to go too deep anyway.

After Sophie emerges cleaner, Eidolon puts a floatie around her waist, and she goes waddling around on the water like a duck.

The two parents repeat the process with all of them except Esme, who wants to stay on the huge floatie.

The kids messed around in the water, splashing each other and bracing themselves for the waves. Sometime later, they moved to a shallower part of the water to play with Emma.

Sophie stays with Eidolon as the hero teaches her how to swim.

"First you need to learn how to float…Relax and take deep breaths," Eidolon instructs while holding the little girl horizontally at water level, his hand on her back. "Go with the flow of the water. Close your eyes. Trust me, I am holding you."

Sophie catches up quickly with the lesson. Beneath her swim goggles, she closes her eyes and slowly starts floating.

"Wouldn't it be easier to practice in the pool?" Emma asks before receiving a shot of a water gun. "Brats!" She turns before splashing her mischievous daughter with a handful of seawater, making the girl giggle and retaliate.

"It depends… seawater is denser, so it is easier to float here; the problem is the waves, but…" he gives her a look so that he doesn't need to say it out loud.

"..." Emma turns around to pay attention to what he means, even standing up.

Now she can see that the waves around them are much smaller. In a perfect circle around them! Completely unnatural.

The guy is controlling the sea so that his daughters can learn how to swim.

Emma, once again, makes a note to herself to raise those girls properly, because they will grow up as the most spoiled group of little princesses in the history of the world.

'I don't want to be the responsible parent…' She sighs in her mind. She also wants to spoil them rotten too. 'I guess his constant lessons should be enough.'

Eidolon has the habit of turning everything into a little life lesson, like with the sandcastles earlier. The girls probably don't understand much of it, but it should stick as they grow up.

"Sophie… open your eyes," Eidolon says to the girl learning how to float.

She opens her blue eyes to see the hero with his two hands in the air, eyes smiling.

"You are already doing it alone." He praises

"!" SplashSplash

It is unclear whether she got too excited or panicked, but her legs start to sink, and she starts beating her arms on the water.

"Haha, calm down." Eidolon grabs her by her sides. "Did you lose your concentration? Sorry… The important thing is that you know that you can do it alone."

"It is hard…" She whines a little

"It is now… Eventually you are gonna be able to do it without even thinking." He encourages her. "Wanna try again? While it is still fresh on your mind?"

She nods

"Good. Check your goggles so that water doesn't enter, and let's do it." He puts her horizontally on the water again. "Till the end of the day, you are gonna be doing it without help."

That is how they spend their time on the water. Eidolon teaches one girl at a time how to swim while Emma plays with the rest.

As expected, they have roughly the same talent but slightly different personalities, which led the father to adapt his teaching methods.

Phoebe is impatient and gets frustrated quickly when she doesn't learn instantly, especially when Sophie is already swimming around (with the help of floaties) pretty well, but slowly.

And Celeste was very afraid and didn't let go of him to really practice.

Not all learned at the same speed, and some don't seem that interested in swimming around anyway, so Eidolon didn't force it.

In the end, they could at least move around in the water, either by themselves or with some floaties on their arms.

It was when the sun started to set, and the dusky sky covered them, that the lesson/play time ended.

"Okay, go get the salt from your body. Use the showers on the side of the house." Emma urges the girl under the big showers. "Wash every part, and then we go take a bath."

""""Why two baths?"""" They ask in unison, showing their annoyance.

"One is to wash off the seawater and then the other to clean properly." Emma explains while grabbing some towels, "Dry enough to not make a mess on the house… Sophie! Don't sit on the couch while wet!"

While the mother is ushering the kids to clean themselves properly, Eidolon is preparing the food.

"The salt in your body can leave rashes, girls. Believe in me when I say that you don't want it to spoil our vacation." Eidolon says, walking behind Emma as he heads to the kitchen.

"But then you would just heal them." She whispers to him so that the girls couldn't listen

"I will not be with them forever; they should learn the basics of life." He says

"I know, just find it interesting how you overexplain everything." She smiles while leaning on the door between the kitchen and living room.

"You know? When I was a kid, I probably held the record for 'Why?' questions asked in a day." He smiles. "Every kid asks 'Why?', and most of the time they only receive a superficial explanation, if they receive any."

"Every kid went through this phase… and we are all annoying." She smiles fondly

"I know, but I wanted people to explain to me instead of just saying 'That is how things are' or 'You will learn when you grow old'."

"So you are raising them how you wish you were raised…" She understands

"Not that I am complaining. I was raised pretty well, but my parents are a little too busy, and I think they do not want to spend our precious little time explaining boring stuff instead of doing anything else." Eidolon's eyes smile, reminiscing about the past. "I was not a dumb kid; the quintuplets are also smart… I believe they can understand anything if we communicate with them properly. Most kids do."

"Obviously they are smart… They came from me." Emma jokes, letting her narcissism make an appearance.

"Of course." Eidolon rolls his eyes. "You know, for a long time I thought the sky was blue because it reflected the ocean. If the girls asked, I will explain that the gases in the atmosphere scatter blue light… that sunlight can be divided into the rainbow colors, that what we see is the light reflecting in our eyes, that is why some things change color in different places like the bottom of the ocean or when a different light shines through it."

"Geez, be careful not to give them college-level lessons." She jokes

"Relax, I watch a lot of those educational cartoons and TV shows; I know how to simplify things. Examples are excellent to teach kids, and with my powers, I can create any example that I want." He smiles. "If they ask why the moon is yellow and full of holes, I will not say that is because it is made of cheese… I am gonna take them there and show a meteor hitting it."

"I don't think educational cartoons can compare to that." Emma deadpans

"They never could." It is Eidolon time to act arrogant, putting on an apron with great fanfare, one with the "#1 Dad in the World" written on it.

"Hahahaha!" Emma laughs loudly, even throwing her head back. "I am gonna make sure the girls are taking a proper bath." She walks away

"Do that. I am gonna have everything ready till they are dressed."

"Front porch?" She asks

"Front porch." He nods

...…

The table on the front porch gives the family a beautiful view of the night sky. The lack of city lights allows them to see the entire star map, including the Milky Way.

Eidolon obviously has a little hand on it. He would not allow clouds to obscure his children's view of the beauty of the universe.

"As we are at a beach… it is obvious that we need to try some seafood." Eidolon declares as he puts plate after plate of food. There are shrimp, some even cooked with wine, only for Emma; deep-fried fish with chips; boiled lobsters and crab cakes.

Also, a great variety of complementary foods, such as tempered rice and seasoned toasted flour, along with plenty of juice.

"What are the fish?" Emma asks as she helps to set the table. The girls also help.

"There is tilapia, flounder, perch… nothing crazy."

"Those dishes are smelling good." She compliments

"Thank you. I made it light enough so that everyone sleeps well, but with enough calories to recover after a day playing." He says, helping the girls with their food because eating crab and lobster is a little complicated.

"Try the lobster first, girls. Let the fries to later." Emma tries to teach them some manners, but it falls mostly on deaf ears. "Okay… you can use your hands… only this time, though."

In the end, the two adults need to help them, not that they mind; it's a treat to see their cute daughters even when some of them look like starving beasts.

"Phoebe, the crab is already dead… calm down." Emma admonishes her

"Listen to your mother; if you choke on the food, you will not be able to enjoy it that easily." Eidolon adds

"Fine…" The girl listens and starts eating slowly

"Papa, delicious," Celeste says with the corners of her mouth dirty with food.

"Thank you, princess. What do you like more?"

"Cakes." She takes another crab cake.

"Alright, I will remember and make them even better for you." Eidolon pats her head. "Gonna get some better crabs tomorrow."

The family enjoys their nice dinner under the starry sky, feeling the breeze and hearing the waves crashing on the beach.

The girl ate everything they could, and Eidolon even prepared some homemade ice cream.

"You are gonna fatten them," Emma comments, but also eats the dessert.

"They are kids on vacation. It is the time for them to eat unhealthily." Eidolon defends the girl. "This ice cream is low on sugar, by the way."

"Really? It looks normal." Emma comments, her mouth still tasting of the ice cream.

"I have my means." Eidolon acts arrogant again.

She finds it amusing that he lets his arrogance show only when bragging about those normal skills instead of the fact that he is a super-powerful meta-human that can destroy the planet. He is pretty humble normally.

After eating, Eidolon planned to make some fire and tell stories to his daughters around it, maybe even showing off by playing some instrument. He is sure Mindee would enjoy it; she is the one who likes music most and takes her piano lessons seriously.

But the girls started dozing off pretty quickly after their tummies were full.

"Okay then, time to bed." Eidolon grabs them, who protest even when they can barely keep their eyes open. "Better sleep early, because I am gonna wake you all up early too… Then we will have the whoooole day of fun planned."

That got some excited, but still tired, grunts from the girls as Eidolon grabs four of them to carry on his arms.

Emma gets the last one, Esme, on her arms and follows him.

The bedroom prepared for the kids is simple, only the five beds and drawers on the side. Neither parent minds the mess of toys and clothes on the ground.

Eidolon puts each girl on their respective bed, tucking them in and kissing their foreheads. Emma also does the same with Esme, and then moves to say goodnight to the rest, Eidolon taking her place to say goodnight to Esme.

"Sleep well, girls." Emma says before turning off the light and walking out with Eidolon. After closing the door, she comments, "What time is it now?"

"20:44."

"Too early… So, what are we gonna do now?" She asks the man

"..." Eidolon pauses; his super hearing tried to catch some innuendo in her tone, but it looked like a normal question… which is a little strange. "Well, I can always do some hero work, and you can sleep."

"Ugh, hero work… so responsible." She rolls her eyes. "Come drink with me, Eidolon." She grabs a bottle from the kitchen and walks out of the house.

"I don't drink… and seriously, I can make you have a good night's sleep. Instantly. You are gonna wake up super refreshed; I bet you don't have the opportunity of a full night's sleep in a long time."

"That is true, but I am already used to it." She admits, but then continues with a stronger voice, "Come."

"..." Eidolon feels she has no ulterior motives, so he follows her. He thinks that the two should communicate as co-parents.

When he walks out the door and steps on the front porch, he finds Emma close to the railing, pouring a drink for herself.

"Today was… surprisingly fun." She comments, looking out at the dark ocean.

"It was the whole point." He says with just a little sarcasm while walking to her side

"You get what I mean…" She rolls her eyes, "Never had much of this whole 'family fun time' when I was a kid."

"...I know." Eidolon nods sympathetically

Emma makes a sound that could be a scoff. "Of course, you know." She looks away for an instant before looking forward again; she did that to school her features. "How much do you know?"

"Enough that you don't need to explain unless you want to." He replies

"Hmm…" She swirls her drink in the glass. "Maybe I want to rant a little… Long story short, my father was a piece of shit, and my mother was a weak idiot. That is a good combination for an everlasting bad marriage, and the ones that suffer the most in bad marriages are the children."

"..." Eidolon can't really relate because his parents are awesome, but he saw enough around the world to be empathetic.

Emma sighs loudly. "So much was going on… My father, in traditional(if you want to be nice) ways, wanted my brother to inherit everything, forgetting about his three daughters, but as fate would have it, his son turned out to be gay. Haha. That derailed his plans, as he couldn't accept the fact…"

"..."

"I could never dislike my brother, even when he was clearly 'favored' by my father; I was able to see that the favoritism came with a heavy price… and it got worse when Christian came out. My shitty father really thought he could straighten up Christian. That was when I left…"

"..."

"My two sisters are also two bitches in their own way…"

"Well, you are a bitch too." Eidolon points out

"..." Emma pauses and does her best to hold a laugh, trying to look serious and done with him.

"Maybe it's in your DNA…" Eidolon doesn't stop, suggesting this ridiculousness with a straight face… "I should worry about the girls…" His eyes widen comically. "Gonna have them tested in a lab."

"Don't worry, it is not genetic… Christian is nice." Emma doesn't deny that she is not nice.

"Would love to meet him one day." Eidolon says

Emma's amused expression changed again. "That will be difficult… he is not… in the best headspace right now. Neither is my mother, or father…" At the end, her eyes change to two cold chunks of ice. "Not that I have anything to do with the first two…" Emma adds, not denying she messed with her father's head.

"I believe in you… Familiar Immunity is a real phenomenon where a meta's power doesn't work on siblings. No registered cases with parents yet."

"Yep, I know that… I never could read my brothers' and sisters' minds… not that they believed in me. Adrienne avoided me like the plague, and I am pretty sure Cordelia was cussing me as much as she could by the way she glared at me." She chuckles mirthlessly. "Unfortunately, because of that, I can't help my brother either."

Eidolon chuckles.

"Have any siblings, Eidolon?"

"No…" Eidolon reveals, despite himself being famous for his secrecy.

"Only child? Lucky bastard." Emma jokes before her face becomes serious again. "I tried to run away from a shitty family, only to discover the world is a shitty place too. If there is shit everywhere, then I need to build my own clean empire. I started by taking what was meant to be mine."

"I know that too." Eidolon doesn't want her to delve into her dark past. The things she has done, the deals that she made, the people she got involved with… Her hands are not clean.

Emma Frost is a villain, after all.

"Initially I thought I could 'fix' my family… but it was beyond repair. My father broke both my mother and brother while I was away… so I broke him too." She takes a sip of her drink. "The relationship with my sisters is similarly broken. Adrienne envies me too much, and Cordelia is still in her rebellious phase; now her target is me instead of our father. Both fear me, though… much more than my father…"

"..."

"Sometimes I caught myself thinking… if I am becoming my father… Or if I am already him."

"..."

"I thought about this many times in the past, but I simply dismissed it with a shrug… Fuck it, I do not plan to start another family anyway. What is a criminal without victims? Let me be ruthless with the ones that mean nothing to me… it is efficient. I multiplied what my father built many times over. It was working pretty well for me."

"...but then the girls appeared." Eidolon can already see where this is going.

"Yes… And now, the prospect of being my father… it scares me a little." She admits with difficulty.

"You are not your father."

"Oh, I was… I became exactly like him the moment I stripped him of everything he held dear." Emma laughs darkly.

"That is not how it works…" Eidolon shakes his head

"Then is everything I did afterward- I didn't care before, but maybe it's too late for me…" She turns to stare at Eidolon. "If one day you see me giving signs that I am treating the girls like my father treated my brother and us, don't be like my mother… Give me a bitchslap or something and take them away. It is what she should have done."

"..."

Eidolon stares deeply at Emma, taking in this rare show of fragility in the otherwise strong woman. Emma Frost never shows weakness.

But children… Children are the weak point of any good parent.

She is looking toward the horizon, not expecting an answer; she has already said her piece and expects him to remember her words in the future. She even felt a little relieved now, a little weight off her shoulders, knowing that he will be watching over her and the quintuplets.

Indeed, Eidolon doesn't answer anything; he does something different…

He walks up to her and envelops Emma in a hug.

"!" Her eyes widen, and her body stiffens when she feels his body behind her and his arms going around her torso.

"Emma…" He says in the softest tone he ever used on her, "I am gonna repeat myself: 'You are not your father'."

"..." She is still shell-shocked by him initiating contact like this

"He was an awful person, that became an awful husband, and then an awful father… Even if we concede you are awful too." He makes a little joke: "You started changing after becoming a mother. I am watching you putting effort into changing. The fact you talked about this now is proof enough that you care, and that already makes you better than him."

That is true. Eidolon always knew Emma had some "good" bones in her that can be nurtured and eventually turn her into a good person; that is canon. Meeting the Stepford Cuckoos earlier sped up that process.

"It is just more convenient to me… With so many heroes, you included, doing bad shit is not worth the risk." She rationalizes.

Eidolon shakes his head.

When did that stop Emma Frost from the comics? She was a villain against the whole X-Men, against the Avengers, against Aliens, against the Phoenix Force… If she wanted to continue as a villain, it is not his presence that changed that.

It was her daughters…

"You started changing because of them, and you're smart enough to notice. Then you made the conscious choice of continuing on this path of becoming a better person… for your daughters. Facing your ugly past for them." The hero continues, still holding her. "I admire that in you, Emma Frost."

"..."

"I know what you are feeling… You see those fragile little things that depend on us; we should protect them… But what if we fail? What if what hurts them comes from us?" He confesses.

"..." That hits a nerve

"Don't worry, I know you are doing your best, and your best will be more than enough." He assures her, even without looking; she knows that he is smiling warmly, "And I will be with you all the way till the end. Not to watch over you, but to support… you and the girls. We are all on this together."

"..." Emma, who is looking dazedly at the dark horizon, feels something wet and warm run down her cheeks, and her brain takes a very long time to process that it is her tears.

When was the last time she cried?

Years ago, for her brother Christian… She used to cry more. From anger mainly, anger at her father and mother.

But now she is crying for something different…

Eidolon felt the change in her emotions and gently turned her around.

He doesn't comment on her tears, just wipes them out with his thumbs.

"You are an amazing woman, Emma Frost. Don't forget that; you are gonna take motherhood in stride." He says as a matter of fact, "But don't get your head too big by the 'amazing woman' part… we all know that you have an ego problem."

Her lips twitch into a weak laugh.

"Come, let me take you to bed."

"Oh, now you are taking me to bed?" She raises a provocative eyebrow at him.

"Now that is the Emma Frost that I am used to." He shakes his head, amused. It seems the heavy mood made way for something lighter.

Then, to her surprise, he sweeps her off her feet and carries her in his arms.

"..." For the second time this night, Emma freezes…

Maybe that is it… That is the moment…

But of course not; Eidolon literally treats her like a child, carrying her to her bedroom and pulling the covers over her.

"...I don't believe that you are fucking tucking me in…" She says, half shocked, half impressed.

He smiles down at her. "And you are not stopping me…" He comments

"...it feels surprisingly nice… wait… don't tell me I have daddy issues?" Her eyes widen playfully.

"Okay, Emma. One issue at a time. In the future, we tackle that." He laughs, even going as far as to caress her hair. "Goodnight." He starts walking away

"Goodnight, papa." She teases him, her tone flirtatious.

"Don't call me that in this way… the girls call me that." He turns around with a semi-disgruntled look.

"Okay then, daddy~."

"..." He eventually has to shrug. "At this point, this word is already too tainted." He accepts his fate.

"Wait, it is too early… I am not sleepy." She suddenly realizes

"Emma… I have powers." He gives her a contemptuous look.

"Wha- Zzzzzzzz." She falls asleep suddenly.

"Heh~ This is being unsurprisingly fun." He talks to himself before leaving.

...….

New York

"I do not like this. I do not like this, not even a itty bitty little." Shego complains to Helena

"That is like… the tenth time that you've said that," Helena replies

"It is getting boring." Pamela Isley adds

"Nah, continue," Harley says

The four are hanging around at Hector's residence, eating his food as a way of revenge.

"I know." Shego replies, "And be ready for ten more times; the night is only starting."

"You know… I thought that you already accepted the fact that he sometimes is gonna spend time with other women." Helena questions while putting another plate for herself.

The two are dirtying his living room, watching TV. Hector's pets are all around too, contributing to the mess.

"It is my right as a woman to complain when my man does anything. Anything!" Shego declares, raising a spoon high in the air.

"You go, girl~ Slaaay…" Helena says in a monotone voice

"And yes, we have a deal, and he is not doing anything outside it… but this pisses me off more than if he was fucking someone else."

"Why? Because he is playing house?" Pamela inquires

"Exactly!"

"Is this some issue because you don't want to have children, so you see any woman who gives him children as a threat to your standing in his heart?" Harley asks

"...maybe. Don't fuck therapize me. Out of my head you." Shego starts uncertainly, before flipping into defensive mode.

"Every girl's night is a therapy session, babe. It is just that this one we have a pro." Harley brags

"Ugh, just by thinking that he could be living some sort of happy family fetish…" Shego rants before stuffing her mouth with food.

"I don't think that can be classified as a fetish. It can?" Pamela says before turning to Harley.

"No… unless you consider Mommy and Daddy play." The therapist shrugs

"Ugghh… He must be playing Mommy and Daddy right now!" Shego rages

"I would offer some advice, but you just want to rage, so… let it out, gurl~" Helena says in a deadpan tone.

"That is exactly what I am doing! And the bitch is blonde too! It's another layer to this Mommy play when we consider his Oedipus complex!" Shego exclaims

"Hm, now I see why you are worried." Harley holds her chin like she is thinking about something deeply

"Oh, Isabella is here! Tell us bad things about this bitch!" Shego shouts after Isabella appears.

"Nothing brings women together like talking bad about other women." Pamela nods

"..." What they don't know is that Hector has shown up just to check on them.

He watched the last minute with a strange expression, and wisely chose to retreat silently and never mention it.

'And they are not even drinking…'
