The arrival of the Super Sacred Beast sent shockwaves not only through the powerful individuals it was confronting but also among the members of the Shu family. They were utterly bewildered; the Shu family possessed no such creature, leading them to question its mysterious origins.
Cloud Devouring stood firm, one foot planted on the fallen assailant, its bloodthirsty gaze fixed on the three remaining figures. A low, fierce growl rumbled from its throat. “If you want to be so bold, you should know whose territory this is!” it snarled. “Get lost!” With a final, contemptuous kick, it sent the man it was treading on flying towards his companions.
Instinctively, the three individuals reached out to catch their comrade who was spitting out blood. One of them, after handing the man off to the others, turned to Cloud Devouring. Suppressing the palpable fear in his heart, he dared to ask, “Whose contract beast are you? Who is your master?”
Cloud Devouring offered no reply. Instead, it let out another angry roar, lowered its massive body, and lunged forward, pouncing on them. Its sharp claws sliced through the air, creating several fierce gusts of wind. The beast’s momentum was so overwhelming that the remaining attackers, overcome with terror, dared not stay and quickly fled the scene.
Everyone present stared in blank shock as the powerful individuals simply ran away. For a moment, they stood frozen, until a childish voice, filled with anxiety, broke their stupor. “Grandfather, Grandfather, are you okay? Are you hurt?” The little girl squeezed her way to the front, pulling on Old Patriarch Shu’s sleeve and looking up at him, her round little face etched with worry.
“Grandfather, I’m fine,” Old Patriarch Shu reassured her, patting her small hand. He then looked at the Super Sacred Beast and bowed, hands clasped in respect. “Thank you for saving us, but I don’t know who you are…”
Cloud Devouring simply walked over, glanced at the little girl, and then proceeded toward the Shu residence. This action caught everyone by surprise.
“Grandfather, that’s Beautiful Aunty’s contract beast,” the little girl stated clearly. “I brought Beautiful Aunty back from the street. I invited her to our house for dinner, and she just let me ride that beast, so I came here.”
“Father, let’s go inside first!” urged the Patriarch of the Shu family.
Hearing this, the Old Patriarch nodded and led his granddaughter indoors, while the people behind them quickly set about cleaning up the corpses near the gate before following inside.
Once inside, they didn’t immediately proceed to the backyard. First, they allowed Shu Xin to explain what had transpired. Only then did the Old Patriarch and the Patriarch, accompanied by Shu Xin, go to express their gratitude.
Upon reaching the courtyard, they searched everywhere but could not find the woman in red that Shu Xin had mentioned.
“How could she be gone? She was just here a moment ago,” the little girl said, anxious.
“Greetings, Old Patriarch, Patriarch,” a maid said, coming forward and curtsying. “The young lady has already left.”
Hearing this, they were taken aback. “She left?” They couldn’t believe it. She had just saved the Shu family, and she had simply departed without a word? What kind of person was she?
“Beautiful Aunty is gone? Why did Beautiful Aunty leave?” The little girl was distraught, turning to her grandfather and asking, “Grandfather, what should we do now that Beautiful Aunty is gone?”
“Father, who do you think this person who saved us is?” inquired the Patriarch of the Shu family beside him.
Old Patriarch Shu shook his head. “I don’t know, but someone who commands such a Super Sacred Beast is definitely no ordinary person.” As he spoke, he looked at his little granddaughter, sighing lightly. “Girl, today you accidentally brought a true benefactor to our Shu family! If it weren’t for her, I’m afraid our entire family would have been wiped out today!”
