Chapter 216: Battle for Salvation (X)

At the gates of the Inner Ring… a girl who had been fighting a terrifying Withering beast was hurled backwards.

He body skidded around on the white tiles, leaving behind a trail of blood. The withering beast that looked like a lion, but twice the size and with a mottled, and rotted skin had bit off a good chunk of her flesh.

The girl stumbled back to her legs. But she was dizzy due to to blood loss and using her skill more than intended during the last hour.

And in front of her… the withering beast was not alone. There were two of those hideous dog like creatures and something that looked like a walking puddle of rotted muscles.

It didn’t have legs, hands, face or anything. It just devoured anything that came in its way.

’I can’t let them go beyond the doors. It is very dangerous.’ She was determined to protect the door to the inner ring at any costs.

The lion like beast jumped with its fangs wide open… she summoned a long sword and held it with both her hands. Churning all the power in her body she hurled the weapon towards the beast and caught it in the chest.

The sword bit deep and the beast howled. It jerked its body a few times and jumped back.

Already weakened… The girl’s hand slipped from the sword and it was left embedded deep into the beast’s chest.

She gritted her teeth, and mentally dismissed the sword. As she was about to recall it… a dangerously close growl made her flinch. She turned back to see the other beast over her in the air.

She opened her mouth to scream but nothing came out.

“Laticia!!” A girl screamed from beyond the periphery of the Obsidian gates.

But she didn’t dare go save her friend as that would be a death wish. She was only at level 9 and Laticia was already 14. If she was useless against the beast then how was, she supposed to hold her own.

Suddenly, a cold wind blew and made everyone present and looking at the scene shiver.

It was a bone chilling wind.

Following the wind… to everyone’s shock the beast that was attacking the girl, Laticia was cleaved clean from between. At first it seemed like it had happened invisibly, but on a close inspection.

A very thin ice wall could be seen… it was more evident now that it was smeared with golden blood.

“Are you okay?” Yuki lowered besides Laticia and asked in a gentle tone. She looked exhausted, but not completely yet.

She helped Laticia get back to her feet and told her to move inside the Inner Ring.

While she helped the lady stand up, Yuki secretly even closed down the wound on her side and froze it with some ice… without completely healing it. This way of quick first aid was faster and helped the body heal the wound on its own, but at a faster rate.

After sending the girl back in, she stood alone in a sea of red and golden blood mixing at her legs. She exhaled sharply and saw two more Withering beasts surface from behind a house.

They had human like skulls as their heads and their body was like that of an animal. They moved on four boney legs with grey skin plastered over it.

GROWLLL!!

The injured lion like beast howled and once again attacked the new target. It hadn’t learned even a bit from the death of its partner.

Yuki raised her hand and conjured a snowy spike at the edge of her palm… she then launched it and saw as it effortlessly pierced right through the beasts skull, killing it on the spot.

Yuki didn’t pay any attention to the notification in front of her eyes and instead averted her gaze to the very peculiar beast that was slowly crawling towards her, devouring everything within its gooey body.

Withering beast corpse, Human corpse and even metal… it left nothing but a crater in its wake.

’Its even getting larger as it eats more. That’s one dangerous thing.’ she realized.

She had a way to deal with this one as well. As it was very small she could freeze it and then break it into parts.

But the problem were the other beasts that would try to interfere while she was doing it. She took a deep breath and created a frost blade in her hand. Then she suddenly sprinted to the nearby beast, the boney bastards and attacked it.

The almost invisible blade, sliced through the beasts neck with ease… but there was no blood.

Yuki frowned at first, but the notification that followed made her sigh in ease, for a second she thought they were not the real beast.

She killed the second one in the same manner and then turned her attention to the one crawling bastard left.

She didn’t dare approach it carelessly.

At first, Yuki made two large Ice shards and attacked the beast from two different sides, pinning it at a place.

SHRIEKKKKK!!

The monster shrieked in a very shrill and annoying voice. But before it could do anything else, Yuki had already reached it and used her skill to its highest output.

Mist swirled around the beast and in no time turned it into a statue of ice that caught the Silver moonlight and reflected it into various directions.

Looking at it for brief moment… Yuki drover her frost blade through it. Cracks spiderwebbed across the whole structure and then it fell apart like another statue.

At first Yuki didn’t pay much attention to the notification, but then felt a surge of power through her whole body.

Her expression didn’t change on the surface. But she realized that she has finally reached level 30!

She didn’t waste time outside and retreated back to the doors of the Inner Ring… standing at the peripheral… she looked gloomily at the Secondary ring which had been consumed by chaos and bloodshed.

’Hope… Filch and Others have made it inside. We need to close this door now… it is very dangerous to wait any longer. Anyone who is left outside will have to be rescued later…’ She gulped hard at that thought and then bit her lower lip in frustration. ’If they manage to stay alive by then.’

Without thinking much about it, she gritted her teeth and ordered to the people present here. “Close the Doors.”

THUMPP!

Following her orders the gates of the Inner ring were closed shut and the seal o them activated automatically, making it hard for the beasts outside to come close to them.

BOOOM!

Suddenly a blast shook the entirety of the Inner Ring.

People looked around in panic. Yuki frowned and looked in the direction of the blast.

It came from the Golden Castle!

’That is where the dragon is… the emperor. And, brother would be there too.’ She suddenly felt and indescribable rage in her chest… although he had showed that his actions were right. There was no way she could ever forgiver him.

’The main goal is killing the dragon.’ She looked coldly at the golden castle in a distance.

’I am coming to complete this scenario!’
