Chapter 1125 1085: Secretary Liao's Request for Help

  • Next Chapter

"Old classmate, huh? Sister Chen, what you just said about me being an old classmate makes me a little embarrassed. Can't quite live up to that..."

Lin Ling glanced indifferently at that Chen Bing, distancing herself.

"Little Lin..." Upon hearing this, Chen Bing's face turned somewhat pale, knowing this time it was truly over.

Seeing the scene, Chen Fei couldn't help but laugh secretly, giving Lin Ling a thumbs up in private. You know, even he felt pretty satisfied in his heart now.

Truly her mother, cut from the same mold, the slap to the face doesn't miss a beat...

Hearing this, Liao Hua immediately knew what to do.

He didn't even glance at the now gloomy Chen Bing, brushed her aside, and then warmly invited Chen Fei and the others, saying, "Mr. Chen, it looks like you're about to dine at Kanda Grand Hotel, right? Coincidentally, I've booked a table here too. Why don't we eat together?"

However, the moment he said this, Lin Ling and the others' expressions turned slightly odd.

Compared to before, anyway, it wasn't as pleasant.

Seeing this, Liao Hua, sensitive to reading people's expressions, felt his heart skip a beat, stammering and not knowing what to do, "Mr. Chen, did I say something wrong?"

"It's fine, it's fine. It's not related to you, don't overthink it."

Chen Fei understood why Lin Ling and the others instinctively changed their expressions, but it really had nothing to do with Secretary Liao, right?

So, he immediately patted Liao Hua on the shoulder, indicating he shouldn't worry.

Lin Ling also came to her senses at this moment, quickly apologizing, "Secretary Liao, I'm sorry, don't overthink this, it's not related to you. It's just..."

As she spoke, she instinctively glanced at the head-buried Chen Bing, and also at the pale-faced Chen Anyue and Duan Hong, standing not far away.

Seeing this, Liao Hua finally let out a sigh of relief.

After which, he followed Lin Ling's gaze to scan over Chen Bing, Chen Anyue, and Duan Hong, noticing their expressions, and connecting it to earlier... he seemed to have some realization.

"Mr. Chen, Ms. Lin, if there's anything you require, just let me know. In this little piece of Chengyang County, outsiders still have to give me, Liao Hua, some face." He whispered.

"That won't be necessary," Chen Fei shook his head and said, "Let's forget about the meal today. If there's another opportunity, we'll talk then."

"But, but Mr. Chen, there's something I want to ask you, to ask for your help... Don't get me wrong, it's not a personal matter, it's a public one."

Yet hearing this, Liao Hua steeled himself and said.

"A public matter? What is it, quite troublesome?" Chen Fei was slightly taken aback, wondering.

"Yes, it's somewhat troublesome. If I hadn't run into you today, I was about to ask my teacher if he had any solutions. Did you notice that person?" Liao Hua nodded, testing his gaze towards the man in the suit with a briefcase at the front of the hotel.

"Hmm... saw him. Is he an Ancient Martial Artist?" Chen Fei nodded and said. He had noticed before, it seemed like that person was an Ancient Martial Artist, and appeared to be injured, but he didn't know him, so he didn't pay much attention.

"Yes, Mr. Chen, you have quite the discerning eye. You could see it from such a distance."

Liao Hua, surprised, replied, "That one is someone I requested from the provincial Public Security Bureau as help, but it's still not enough. Last time they got injured. This time, they've come with a new method, but to be honest, I'm still somewhat uneasy."

"What's all this about?" Chen Fei slightly frowned.

"Mr. Chen, it's like this..." Liao Hua leaned over to Chen Fei's ear, speaking those two words gravely.

"Hmm?" Chen Fei was slightly startled, a bit surprised, but then he shook his head helplessly, smiled, and said to Lin Ling and Pei Wanning, "Wanning, you go have lunch with Mom and the others with a few aunts, okay? I've got a bit of business to attend to here. Aunts, I'm really sorry, I originally intended to invite you to dine..."

"No, no, no! Business first, business first! Xiaofei, you'd better go take care of it, you don't have to worry about us..." Aunt Wang and the others quickly said after hearing this.

Are you kidding, Secretary Liao is personally asking Chen Fei for help now, how could they be inconsiderate!?

"Very well then. Since Secretary Liao is asking you to help with a matter, do it properly, don't goof around... Also, be careful and stay safe, understand?" Lin Ling scolded earnestly.

"Understood, Mom. Rest assured, it's a small matter. Wanning, I'll leave Mom and them to you, okay?"

Chen Fei quickly said, even winking at Pei Wanning.

"Oh, okay, I understand." Pei Wanning nodded with a slight blush. She felt a bit nervous and also a bit excited.

She couldn't help it; this was her first time having a meal alone with Chen Fei's mom without him, and the significance was different, how could she not be nervous?

As for Chen Fei's safety? She naturally wasn't worried.

Because the private conversation between Liao Hua and Chen Fei earlier, she heard it all.

The little thing wasn't only unexciting for Chen Fei but even for her, and naturally, there wasn't any sense of danger.

Thus, Lin Ling and Pei Wanning led a group of neighborhood aunties away.

Chen Fei then proceeded with Secretary Liao towards the hotel, where the long-waited man in a business suit with a briefcase was heading.

"Secretary Liao, who is he?" Upon approaching, the man glanced obliquely at Chen Fei with a cold demeanor.

Originally, he and Secretary Liao Hua were the main focus today, meant to discuss important matters. But now, Secretary Liao had set him aside for such a long time because of Chen Fei; naturally, he felt annoyed.

"Shut up! Director Fu, this gentleman is Chen Fei, Mr. Chen. His status is incredibly esteemed, so don't speak carelessly."

Seeing the man speak out of turn, Liao Hua's expression changed, rebuking him.

Although the visitor was a director of a special department at the provincial Public Security Department, like his name suggests, he was just a subordinate. Truthfully speaking, Liao Hua wasn't afraid of him at all.

Upon hearing this, the man referred to as Director Fu's expression changed slightly, becoming somewhat sullen and unpleasant. Apparently, he hadn't expected that, with his status as a deputy director of a provincial department, Liao Hua would rebuke him for a single sentence without showing respect.

"Hmph!"

Thinking about it more and more frustrated, Director Fu couldn't help but let out a cold snort, looking at Chen Fei. He said, "Am I wrong to ask? Secretary Liao, have you forgotten why we're having a meal today? Can a regular person know about such a dangerous thing?"

"Heh." Chen Fei chuckled slightly, not angry, and simply responded with a question, "How do you know I'm just a regular person? What if I'm a far more formidable figure than you... Far more formidable?"

"Hmm?" Director Fu glared coldly at Chen Fei, feeling somewhat provoked by his taunting. His face turned stern and cold as he said, "Are you sure you're not kidding?"

Smack!

As he casually grabbed, his five fingers formed a claw-like shape, leaving deep scars on the nearby stone lion sculpture, making someone's scalp tingle, coldly saying, "Now, do you see?"

Chen Fei shook his head with a smile, without speaking, merely pointing casually. With that, a cracking sound came from the stone lion sculpture, and the next moment, a hole the size of a finger suddenly appeared, making Director Fu's pupils contract.

"So, you're also an Ancient Martial Artist?" Then he looked deeply at Chen Fei and spoke.

Chen Fei neither confirmed nor denied, merely smiled blandly.

"Hmph!"

Seeing Chen Fei's attitude, Director Fu couldn't help but coldly snort again, feeling Chen Fei was simply too arrogant!

He wanted to open his mouth to ridicule, yet hesitated for a moment before choosing to give up.

Truth be told, that finger hole on the stone lion sculpture made him feel slightly chilled.

How powerful must one's finger strength be to form such a hole across the air, deep and unfathomable? If he hadn't seen it for himself, he might not have believed it.

"Director Fu, this Mr. Chen is an exceptionally influential figure of great status, so I hope you refrain from speaking rudely anymore. Otherwise, don't blame me, Liao Hua, for turning against you," Liao Hua spoke coldly, standing firmly on Chen Fei's side.

"Influential figure, him?" Director Fu coldly glanced at Chen Fei, feeling uncomfortable internally, but ultimately chose to swallow it… Behind Liao Hua stood Secretary Huang Tao, who boasted immense power, even capable of directly reaching ears higher up, throughout the entire Jiangnan Province.

Unless necessary, he truly didn't want any conflict with such people.

But even so, he still sniffed disdainfully at Liao Hua's words—an exceptionally influential figure of great status? He chuckled inwardly. Perhaps it was because Liao Hua hadn't seen much of the world, lingering in this small county town for too long, that he was so ignorant?

Director Fu's face showed a hint of disdain, and he said blandly, "I'm not bothered to argue with you about anything. Where is the designated location, let's discuss the business, has the item been brought?"

"Hmm… It's been brought." Upon hearing this, Liao Hua finally nodded solemnly, temporarily putting aside the previous conflicts. He respectfully addressed Chen Fei, "Mr. Chen, let's discuss matters upstairs. It's somewhat inconvenient out here."

"Alright, lead the way then." Chen Fei nodded, before saying. He didn't bother with Director Fu anymore… Lower tiers naturally have less insight; otherwise, how would his idiosyncrasy, Chen Fei, Young Master Chen's shenanigans shine through? Don't you think so?

Then, Liao Hua, Director Fu, and Chen Fei were led by the hotel staff to the sixth floor, inside Kanda Grand Hotel's finest private room.

"Without my instruction, don't approach, understood?" Liao Hua said, expressionless, towards the staff.

"Yes, yes… Of course, Secretary Liao. Rest assured, without your instruction, no one can approach within a ten-meter radius of this private room!"

The staff immediately replied with trepidation.

"Alright, leave now." Liao Hua nodded. The staff quickly left.

Meanwhile, Liao Hua's secretary placed the briefcase he had been carrying on the table.

"Director Fu, Mr. Chen, please take a look."

Liao Hua solemnly opened the briefcase, revealing the contents were quite peculiar… Like fingernails, yet very long, in a grayish-white hue. The tips even emanated a faint, eerie glow, giving one a sense of coldness.
