Medical and Martial God
Chapter 886: A Telegram No One Dares to Read Aloud
After listening to Ye Xiu’s analysis, the white-haired old man immediately retorted:
"These past days, the Fourth Prince sent telegrams daily, clearly reporting major victories at the front. How could the whole army be suddenly wiped out?"
Ye Xiu was speechless; Lin Mu was such a braggart!
The initial battle was a tremendous defeat, followed by them inspecting the Moon City people, until An Dongye and Tang Bo’s surprise attack took Lin Mu and the army away.
There were no battles during this time period.
Yet, Lin Mu reported victories every day!
"If the Fourth Prince and the civilian Martial Artist army weren’t completely wiped out, why would the enemy have the audacity to openly show up in Red Water City? Why would they boldly attack Red Water City? And why didn’t the Fourth Prince report the enemy’s movements?"
The white-haired old man said, "The attack on Red Water City could be from another group of enemies, while the enemies at the four major ports are being held in check by the Fourth Prince and the civilian Martial Artist army. The Fourth Prince probably doesn’t know about another enemy force, so he didn’t inform us about the surprise attack on Red Water City!"
Everyone thought that sounded reasonable!
They really felt Ye Xiu’s analysis was unreliable; 1.82 million civilian Martial Artist troops, along with Lin Mu’s imperial guards—how could so many people be completely annihilated in less than half a month?
So they tended to agree with the white-haired old man’s judgment.
"Xiaoming, still too young and inexperienced, lacks practical battlefield experience."
King Lin Lei patted Ye Xiu on the shoulder and said:
"But you do have some skills. Spend some time training at the Thousand Mechanism Hall, shake off that bookish demeanor, and you could become a strategist capable of holding your own in the future."
Ye Xiu chuckled to himself. Seeing these people being so foolish, his confidence in winning this war grew even stronger.
Kristina saw that no one believed ’Lei Xiaoming’s analysis, and Lin Lei even said ’Lei Xiaoming’ was too young to his face.
This made her feel somewhat embarrassed.
But she couldn’t speak up for ’Lei Xiaoming’ at the moment; even she felt the white-haired old man’s analysis was more reliable.
"Lei Xiaoming, I think you’d be better off saying less and listening more. For now, your opinions might just mislead everyone."
The white-haired old man, seeing Lin Lei ’attacking’ Ye Xiu, immediately stripped Ye Xiu of his right to speak.
He spoke with an air of triumph over Ye Xiu.
Ye Xiu chuckled: "We’re just sitting here guessing, even if we guess until the flowers bloom, it’s still just guessing. Why not directly send the Fourth Prince a telegram to ask about the situation?"
Uh!
With one sentence, everyone in the Thousand Mechanism Hall felt as if their intelligence had taken a critical hit!
Of course!
There’s no need to waste brainpower analyzing and guessing about this kind of matter!
Just directly send a telegram to ask Lin Mu!
"Ahem..."
Lin Lei coughed to cover his awkwardness and ordered:
"Immediately send a telegram to Lin Mu, asking about the frontline situation, and by the way, inform him about the enemy’s surprise attack on Red Water City."
"I’ll do it!"
The white-haired old man volunteered, running to the telegraph to send a message to Lin Mu.
He couldn’t wait to use facts to slap Ye Xiu’s face, to make everyone in the Thousand Mechanism Hall know that ’Lei Xiaoming’ was just a bookworm, completely useless in actual practice, and not suited to stay in the Thousand Mechanism Hall.
After sending the telegram, the white-haired old man smiled and said:
"Little Princess, Your Majesty, everyone, actually sending this telegram is a waste; the facts will certainly align with my judgment. The Fourth Prince and the civilian Martial Artist army are attacking the four-way enemy. The force attacking Red Water City is the fifth enemy division."
Kristina and Lin Lei also thought so, sending the telegram to ask Fourth Prince Lin Mu was just for confirmation.
Ye Xiu, on the other hand, looked forward to it. On the way to the Royal Palace, he had already sent a message to Qin Qing, telling him not to keep using Lin Mu’s identity to report daily victories to the King!
Now that the white-haired old man had sent a telegram to Qin Qing, how would he reply?
With Qin Qing’s unfathomable imagination, Ye Xiu really couldn’t guess.
"The Fourth Prince’s reply has arrived!"
After ten minutes, the white-haired old man suddenly shouted, pulling out the reply from the telegraph without even looking, and walked directly to Ye Xiu.
Handing the telegram to Ye Xiu, he said:
"Lei Xiaoming, didn’t you say the Fourth Prince and the civilian Martial Artist army were completely wiped out? If they were, how could the Fourth Prince reply?"
Can’t you read the telegram content before bragging to me... Ye Xiu mentally sneered at the white-haired old man for a moment, then said:
"You’re really amazing, really amazing; as expected, you’re a veteran who can predict everything. I should learn from you."
Seeing ’Lei Xiaoming’ lower his proud head, submitting to his wisdom, the white-haired old man felt a sense of total victory.
He immediately, in the manner of a superior, admonished:
"Lei Xiaoming, you may have read a lot of books and are somewhat competent in academics, but the Thousand Mechanism Hall is for discussing military affairs and national matters. It’s not the place for you. If everyone had listened to your judgment earlier, it could have derailed major affairs. Can you bear that responsibility? I advise you to remain an earnest guard for the Little Princess, focus on studying, and not show off superficial cleverness in the Thousand Mechanism Hall!"
These words expressed the inner thoughts of King Lin Lei and all the Ministry of Military Affairs bigwigs and think tank members in the Thousand Mechanism Hall.
Even Kristina, after hearing the white-haired old man’s words, suddenly felt that ’bringing Lei Xiaoming to the Thousand Mechanism Hall’ was a mistake!
"You’re absolutely right, so right!"
Ye Xiu adopted a junior stance and asked:
"Then shouldn’t you now show everyone the telegram content from the Fourth Prince? Everyone is concerned about the frontline situation!"
Upon hearing Ye Xiu’s concern about the frontline situation, the white-haired old man wanted to scold Ye Xiu again but was interrupted by Kristina.
"Lei Xiaoming is right, you should read the telegram content first," Kristina said.
"As you command!"
The white-haired old man dared not disobey Kristina’s order. He coughed, cleared his throat, held the telegram upright, and was about to read when his eyes suddenly widened in shock.
"This, this, this, how could this be?"
His reaction left everyone looking at each other cluelessly, unable to comprehend what was written that could shock the white-haired old man like this.
Ye Xiu nearly burst out laughing, becoming even more curious about how Qin Qing had replied!
"Stop keeping us in suspense, read it!"
Kristina urged.
"This..."
Unable to muster the courage to read it aloud, the white-haired old man handed the telegram to a Ministry of Military Affairs bigwig, saying:
"You read it!"
The bigwig suspiciously accepted it, glanced at the telegram, his face changed dramatically, and he quickly handed the telegram to King Lin Lei, saying:
"Your Majesty, you should see for yourself; I’m not brave enough to read it aloud."
This series of suspense heightened Lin Lei and Kristina’s curiosity even more.
Before Lin Lei could take the telegram, Kristina snatched it, and upon seeing the content, her expression turned strange.
"Little Princess, what’s written in the telegram?"
Lin Lei was getting anxious enough to grow prickly heat on his backside.
