"And let you handle it alone?"

"Yes."

"No."

Bai Ruxue sighed.

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.

Su Yubing quietly said, "They really do remind me of us."

Mo Yuxin nodded with complete satisfaction.

The two of them were beginning to collect an unusual number of married friends.

The next few days were a slow tightening of the net.

The Battle Maiden Sect’s grain supplier stopped answering messages.

A spirit beast ranch that had supplied them for twenty years suddenly claimed all of its beasts were sick.

A local formation master refused to repair damaged arrays because he had received a personal instruction from the Azure Cloud Sect.

Three independent cultivators who had served as temporary guards withdrew from contracts.

The sect’s most reliable merchant in the southern district was found unconscious in an alley, badly injured but alive.

No evidence connected the incidents.

That was the point.

Each incident was small enough to be explained away.

Together, they were strangling the sect.

Ye Qinglan knew it.

Mu Qingru knew it.

The disciples felt it every day.

Even dinner portions were becoming smaller.

Su Yubing noticed Mo Yuxin quietly pushing the larger piece of meat toward her again.

She moved it back.

"You eat it."

"I am not hungry."

"You ate less today."

"I was thinking."

"Thinking does not replace food."

Mo Yuxin looked at the plate.

Then at Su Yubing.

"Fine. One bite."

Su Yubing smiled.

She tore the piece in half and fed one part to Mo Yuxin before eating the other herself.

Mo Yuxin looked pleased.

Luo Qinghe watched from across the table.

"You know, one day the rest of us are going to start feeling single."

Ning Shuyue looked at her.

"We are literally married."

Qinghe laughed. "I know. I mean because of them."

Mo Yuxin looked at Ning Shuyue. "You can do the same thing."

Ning Shuyue’s expression became awkward.

Qinghe immediately leaned toward her.

"Feed me."

Ning Shuyue picked up a piece of vegetable and held it out.

Qinghe took it.

Then she smiled triumphantly.

"See?"

Su Lian looked at Ji Ruyan.

Ji Ruyan immediately said, "No."

Su Lian laughed so hard she nearly dropped her bowl.

For those few minutes, the sect felt like an ordinary home.

That was becoming more important than any of them realized.

The crisis could not erase affection.

It could only make everyone understand how much they needed it.

Several days later, Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing accompanied Su Lian and Ji Ruyan to a hidden storehouse in the western district.

They were moving the last reserve of spirit medicine into a safer location.

The route had been chosen carefully.

No public road.

No major formation.

No known sect territory.

They still encountered trouble.

A dozen masked cultivators appeared at the mouth of the alley.

Ji Ruyan immediately drew her sword.

Su Lian activated a formation.

Mo Yuxin sighed.

"Again."

Su Yubing looked amused. "You sound tired."

"I am tired of people wearing masks."

The masked cultivators attacked.

Ji Ruyan moved first.

Her sword flashed through the narrow space and forced the nearest two attackers backward. She moved with the kind of precision that came from years of practice rather than brute strength. She was not yet at the level of the strongest senior experts, but among younger cultivators she was genuinely formidable.

Su Lian’s formation trapped three more attackers inside a net of spiritual lines.

Ning Shuyue and Luo Qinghe had stayed behind that day, so Su Lian had no choice but to rely on her own combat ability.

Mo Yuxin watched for several breaths.

Then one attacker slipped past Ji Ruyan and lunged toward Su Lian.

Mo Yuxin flicked a finger.

The attacker stopped in midair.

He hung there like someone had forgotten what gravity was supposed to do.

Su Lian blinked.

Ji Ruyan stared.

Mo Yuxin casually said, "Watch your left."

Su Lian turned just in time to see another attacker coming.

She trapped him in the formation herself.

"Thank you."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

The fight lasted less than a minute.

Once the attackers realized they had no chance, they tried to flee.

Mo Yuxin did not pursue them.

She simply sealed the alley entrance.

The remaining cultivators dropped to their knees.

One looked at her with genuine fear.

"What realm are you?"

Mo Yuxin answered, "Nascent Soul."

He looked horrified.

Su Yubing covered her smile.

Even Ji Ruyan looked like she was beginning to suspect that Mo Yuxin’s version of Nascent Soul was slightly different from everyone else’s.

After the attackers were handed to the city authorities, Ji Ruyan looked at Mo Yuxin.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Yes."

"Why do you hide your strength?"

Mo Yuxin glanced at Su Yubing.

"Because we came here to travel."

Ji Ruyan stared.

"That is all?"

"Mostly."

Su Yubing answered gently, "She does not like people making a fuss around us."

Mo Yuxin nodded. "Exactly."

Ji Ruyan smiled faintly.

"I wish our problems were that simple."

Su Yubing looked at her.

"Maybe they will be someday."

Ji Ruyan did not know what to say to that.

She simply nodded.

The next major turning point came through an unexpected source.

Luo Qinghe received a message from Purple Heaven Valley.

She read it three times before saying anything.

Ning Shuyue immediately noticed.

"Bad news?"

Qinghe handed her the message.

"One of the senior medicine elders has ordered all supplies intended for Battle Maiden Sect to be held."

Su Yubing frowned.

"Is she part of the conspiracy?"

Qinghe shook her head. "I do not know. But she has enough authority to stop every official shipment."

Mo Yuxin looked at the message.

"Then there is a hidden faction inside Purple Heaven Valley."

Qinghe looked at her.

"That means the conspiracy has spread further than we thought."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

Qinghe’s expression became worried.

"What should I do?"

Su Yubing answered, "Find someone you trust."

Qinghe looked toward Ning Shuyue.

Ning Shuyue immediately stood.

"We will go together."

Qinghe nodded.

Before leaving, she turned toward Su Yubing.

"Thank you."
