The eye slowly closed.

"Yes."

The little girl looked frightened.

Mo Yuxin stepped forward.

The seven lights around her bent.

They stepped forward.

The darkness opened.

Beyond it was an endless world filled with countless floating cities, dead stars, broken heavenly palaces and enormous roads stretching between the worlds.

For the first time, they could see what had been waiting outside the cultivation world all along.

It was not a monster.

It was not a sect.

It was not an ancient beast.

It was a civilization.

A civilization that remembered them.

Thousands of enormous floating ships were waiting beyond the gate.

Every ship bore the same symbol.

Two overlapping rings.

At the front of the largest vessel stood someone wearing white robes.

The person looked like Mo Yuxin.

But older.

Much older.

Beside her stood someone who looked exactly like Su Yubing.

The two figures watched them silently.

Then the older Mo Yuxin smiled.

"You finally made it."

The older Su Yubing raised her hand.

"Come home."

The little girl whispered, "Mother."

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing stared.

The woman on the ship smiled.

"We have been waiting for you for a very long time."

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.

Su Yubing looked back.

Neither stepped away.

Neither hesitated.

They simply held each other’s hands tighter.

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"Fine."

She took the first step onto the floating ship.

Su Yubing followed.

Behind them, the heavenly gate slowly closed.

The Southern Continent disappeared from view.

The journey toward Skyfall City had ended.

The mystery of Homeward City had been uncovered.

The seven gates had been crossed.

And the future they had been running toward was finally waiting directly in front of them.

Mo Yuxin looked at the woman who looked like herself.

"Before anything else, tell me one thing."

The older woman smiled.

"What?"

Mo Yuxin lifted Su Yubing’s joined hand.

"Were we happy?"

The older woman looked at Su Yubing.

Then she looked back at Mo Yuxin.

Her smile became gentle.

"We were never happier than when we were together."

Su Yubing smiled.

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Then we’re fine."

The ship began moving.

Beyond it lay a world larger than anything they had imagined.

There would be new sects.

New enemies.

New mysteries.

New places that would probably try to kill them the moment they walked through the door.

But Mo Yuxin was no longer worried.

She had Su Yubing beside her.

Su Yubing had her.

And no matter how strange the world became, that part would never change.

The ship entered the darkness beyond the gate.

The last thing they saw before the gate closed was the Southern Continent shining far below like a tiny blue star.

Mo Yuxin leaned against Su Yubing.

Su Yubing rested her head on Mo Yuxin’s shoulder.

The little girl sat across from them and quietly ate another spirit fruit.

For a while, nobody spoke.

Then Su Yubing laughed.

"You know, we originally only wanted to visit another mega city."

Mo Yuxin nodded.

"Yes."

"We failed."

"Completely."

"And now we’re apparently traveling beyond the world."

"Yes."

Su Yubing looked at her.

"Do you regret it?"

Mo Yuxin immediately shook her head.

"No."

"Why?"

Mo Yuxin turned to her.

"Because I got to see another world with you."

Su Yubing smiled.

"Clingy."

"Yes."

"Handsome."

"Yes."

"Shameless."

"Only for you."

Su Yubing laughed and leaned into her arms.

The floating ship disappeared into the endless stars.

And somewhere ahead, beyond worlds and eras, something ancient was waiting.

This time, however, it was no longer waiting for two forgotten women.

It was waiting for two women who remembered exactly what they had chosen.

Each other.

Always each other.

The ship continued deeper into the stars.

After several hours, the little girl finally fell asleep. Su Yubing covered her with a cloak while Mo Yuxin sat beside the window and watched the endless darkness outside.

There were countless worlds drifting beyond the glass. Some were bright and blue. Some were wrapped in red clouds. One looked like a giant crystal. Another was surrounded by rings of broken mountains. Every world carried its own spiritual pressure, and every pressure was different.

Su Yubing came to sit beside Mo Yuxin.

"Thinking again?"

"A little."

"About the future version of us?"

"Yes."

Su Yubing rested her chin on Mo Yuxin’s shoulder.

"Do you think they are really us?"

Mo Yuxin looked toward the sleeping child.

"I don’t know."

"Do you think one day we will actually build those cities?"

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"Maybe."

"You always say maybe when you don’t know."

"Because I don’t know."

Su Yubing laughed softly.

"At least you’re honest."

Mo Yuxin turned and kissed her cheek.

"But I do know something else."

"What?"

"Whatever happens in the future, I won’t let anyone decide who you are for me."

Su Yubing looked at her for a moment.

Then she smiled.

"Good. Because I don’t plan on letting anyone decide who you are for me either."

The two women remained there quietly, shoulder against shoulder, watching the stars.

The giant ship carried them toward a place neither of them had ever visited.

Yet strangely, neither felt lost.

The road ahead might contain ancient enemies, impossible secrets, forgotten lives and worlds that had been waiting for them for longer than either could understand.

That was fine.

They had traveled through beast plains, ruined sects, hidden cities, forbidden roads and collapsing worlds without letting go of each other’s hands.

They could do it again.

Mo Yuxin slowly intertwined her fingers with Su Yubing’s.

Su Yubing squeezed back.

Outside the window, the stars blurred into streams of light.

The floating ship passed beyond the boundary of the Southern Continent and entered a region where even the laws of space seemed different.

Somewhere in that endless darkness, a distant bell rang.

Once.

Twice.

And for the first time, there was no fear in the sound.

Only the promise of another journey.

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"We’re homeward bound again."

Su Yubing looked at her and laughed.

"Don’t start with the terrible jokes."

Mo Yuxin hugged her closer.

"Too late."
