Maybe My Soulmate! (GL)

Perhaps they had.

For these two women, the apocalypse could probably begin outside and they would still remember to hold hands.

The beast seemed strangely pleased.

"Then perhaps the seal has chosen correctly."

Mo Yuxin glanced at it.

"What does that mean?"

The beast did not answer.

Instead, it turned toward the Sacred Tide Sect.

The sect cultivators had not moved.

The old Nascent Soul elder suddenly looked grim.

"We cannot let this continue."

He raised his remaining swordless hand.

A jade token appeared between his fingers.

The token shattered.

A massive formation appeared above Bluewave City.

Mo Yuxin looked upward.

Dozens of lights spread across the city walls.

The sea began moving again.

This time the waves were not natural.

They formed a huge spiral around the harbor.

The city lord’s face turned pale.

"You activated the Tide Lock."

The elder smiled.

"The prophecy cannot be allowed to reach its conclusion."

Su Yubing looked toward the city above.

"What happens if the formation completes?"

The ancient beast answered.

"Everyone in the city dies."

Su Yubing’s eyes widened.

"What?"

"The formation uses the city’s spiritual veins to force the sleeping gateway shut. Every living being connected to those veins will have their cultivation drained first, then their life force."

Mo Yuxin’s face turned cold.

"How many people live here?"

The city lord answered in a strained voice.

"Nearly three hundred thousand."

Mo Yuxin looked at Su Yubing.

Su Yubing nodded immediately.

They did not need to discuss it.

They were travelers.

They had no responsibility to Bluewave City.

But three hundred thousand people were still three hundred thousand people.

Mo Yuxin raised her hand.

The entire Tide Lock formation trembled.

The Sacred Tide Sect cultivators stared upward.

Mo Yuxin closed her fingers.

The formation shattered.

No explosion.

No thunder.

It simply disappeared.

Every formation line across the city went dark.

The sea settled.

The city became silent.

The old Nascent Soul elder looked at Mo Yuxin in horror.

"You..."

Mo Yuxin looked at him.

"Leave."

"But the prophecy..."

"I don’t care."

"The Southern Continent will suffer."

"Then find another way."

The elder clenched his teeth.

"You think you can simply interfere with matters this important?"

Mo Yuxin’s smile disappeared.

"I already did."

The old man finally understood.

There was no fight he could win here.

He signaled his people.

The Sacred Tide Sect cultivators withdrew.

But before the last person left, the young woman who had attacked earlier turned back.

She looked at Su Yubing.

There was hatred in her eyes.

"You will bring disaster."

Su Yubing replied calmly,

"Maybe."

Then she smiled.

"But if I do, my wife will probably complain about the cleanup."

Mo Yuxin looked at her.

"I definitely will."

Su Yubing laughed.

The atmosphere finally loosened.

Then the ancient beast spoke.

"You cannot leave yet."

Mo Yuxin sighed.

"Of course."

The beast looked toward the darkness beneath them.

"The gate has awakened."

A huge circular door appeared behind it.

The door was made from black stone and covered with ancient symbols.

One symbol began glowing.

Then another.

Then another.

Su Yubing stepped forward.

"What is on the other side?"

"A passage."

"To the Abyssal Court?"

"Yes."

"Can it be closed?"

"Not anymore."

Mo Yuxin looked at the door.

"Why not?"

"Because it recognizes you."

The beast looked at her.

"Both of you."

Mo Yuxin frowned.

She released a strand of spiritual sense and touched the door.

The instant she did, the ancient symbols lit up.

A pulse ran through the chamber.

And then she saw something.

A memory.

Not hers.

A woman stood on a black stone shore beneath a red moon.

Her clothes were torn.

Her long white hair was soaked with seawater.

She held a sword.

Beside her stood another woman.

The second woman wore a dark red robe and carried an ancient crown in her hands.

They were facing a sea full of enormous shadows.

The white-haired woman turned.

For one second, Mo Yuxin saw her face.

It was hers.

Not exactly.

But close enough to make her heart stop.

The red-robed woman turned too.

It was Su Yubing.

The memory vanished.

Mo Yuxin staggered half a step.

Su Yubing caught her.

"Yuxin?"

Mo Yuxin blinked.

"I saw us."

"What?"

"A memory."

Su Yubing stared at her.

The beast spoke softly.

"The seal remembers what you forgot."

Mo Yuxin closed her eyes.

"I don’t like it."

"Neither do I."

Su Yubing pressed her forehead against hers.

"Then we don’t have to care about it."

Mo Yuxin opened her eyes.

"What?"

"Whatever happened before this life, it belongs to before."

Su Yubing’s voice was quiet.

"I chose you in this life. I married you in this life. I will stay with you in this life. That’s enough."

Mo Yuxin smiled.

"You are getting better at saying things like that."

"I practice."

"On me?"

"Who else?"

Mo Yuxin laughed softly.

Then she kissed her.

It was not a dramatic kiss.

It was not the kind of kiss from a cultivation legend that could make the heavens shake.

It was a simple kiss between two wives who had been traveling together for a long time and suddenly needed the reminder that whatever strange secrets the world tried to put between them, they were still themselves.

When they separated, Su Yubing’s cheeks were slightly red.

"You could have warned me."

"Would you have moved?"

"No."

"Then there was no need."

The beast turned its head politely.

The city lord looked at the ceiling.

Nobody knew where to look.

After a moment, the ancient beast said,

"The gate will remain open for one hour."

Mo Yuxin’s smile disappeared.

"One hour?"

"After that, the passage will become unstable."

"And then?"

"The Abyssal Court may overlap with this world."

Su Yubing’s expression became serious.

"What does that mean?"

"Monsters. Ancient cultivators. Dead things. Anything left behind in the Abyssal Court could leak through."

Mo Yuxin looked at the door.

Then at Su Yubing.

"We should close it."

Su Yubing nodded.

The city lord finally spoke.
