Maybe I really am a Villian

Chapter 327: Assassination 3

Both men immediately unsheathed their swords and lunged towards Asher from different directions.

Asher had only been teleported to the island a second ago, yet both of them were already upon him. One approached from the front while the other attacked from behind, their swords moving swiftly towards Asher’s neck from opposite directions.

Both of them intended to finish the job as quickly as possible without giving Asher any time to react. They had deliberately chosen this moment to attack because they believed he would still be affected by the aftereffects of teleportation and would be at his most vulnerable.

They had planned everything carefully, making sure that their attacks would arrive almost simultaneously and leave Asher with no room to escape.

Their swords were now only a few inches away from Asher’s neck.

However, just as the blades were about to reach him, Asher looked at the man standing in front of him and clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Tch."

In the next instant, he vanished from his position.

Clang!

The two swords struck each other instead, producing a sharp metallic sound that echoed throughout the surrounding area.

Noah, Aria, and Adam, who had been standing beside Asher, only came back to their senses after hearing the sound of the clashing swords. They stared in confusion at the two men standing near them, looking at the empty space where Asher had been standing just a moment ago.

None of them had even managed to understand what had happened.

Their expressions were filled with confusion as they tried to comprehend why the two staff members who were supposed to protect them had suddenly attacked Asher.

However, the two men paid absolutely no attention to them.

Their only target was Asher, and they had no intention of killing anyone other than him. As long as they could complete their mission, they didn’t care about the other students.

Both men immediately looked around, releasing their mana to sense the surrounding space and locate Asher’s position.

They detected his presence just a few meters away.

Without wasting another second, one of the men immediately rushed towards him.

Asher looked at the approaching man before turning his gaze towards Noah, Adam, and Aria. There was a clear hint of annoyance in his eyes as he looked at his teammates.

The man had already reached him.

For a Diamond-rank individual, covering a distance of several meters was barely a matter of a second. The man’s sword was already moving towards Asher’s neck again.

However, just as the sword came within an inch of reaching him, Asher conjured two mana blades in his hands and teleported behind the man.

Immediately afterward, he swung his mana blades towards the man’s back, aiming for his spinal cord.

However, the man was a Diamond-rank fighter.

He immediately sensed Asher’s movement and twisted his body, turning around to intercept the attack with his sword.

Clang!

The moment their weapons collided, the difference in their strength became apparent.

Asher’s mana blades cracked under the force of the man’s strike, and the impact sent him flying backwards. His body was forced away by the overwhelming strength behind the attack, leaving him with little choice but to retreat.

The man didn’t give him any time to recover.

He immediately followed up with another attack, swinging his sword towards Asher before he could regain his balance.

However, Asher teleported away once again, narrowly avoiding the incoming strike.

The man’s sword cut through empty air.

Asher reappeared a short distance away, his expression becoming increasingly annoyed as he continued dodging the attacks.

Meanwhile, the other man had finally turned his attention towards Noah, Adam, and Aria.

The three students were now looking at the men with alarmed expressions. They had finally understood that something was seriously wrong, and they were about to move when the man beside them suddenly raised his hand.

A powerful gust of wind emerged from his palm and swept towards them.

Before any of them could react, the force pushed all three students away, sending them stumbling across the ground and separating them from the ongoing fight.

The man didn’t even bother looking at them afterward.

As soon as he had dealt with the three students, he immediately turned around and rushed towards Asher, intending to join his companion in finishing the mission.

However, Asher teleported away once again.

His expression grew more irritated with every passing second.

Then, one of the men suddenly took out a red orb.

Without hesitation, he crushed it in his palm.

The moment the orb shattered, a strange wave of energy spread throughout the surrounding area.

A barrier began forming around Asher, its surface rapidly expanding until it enclosed the entire area where he was standing. The barrier continued to spread until it had completely trapped him inside.

Asher looked at the barrier for a moment before turning his attention towards the two men standing in front of him.

His expression remained calm.

The two men, on the other hand, seemed relieved.

They had finally managed to activate the barrier they had prepared specifically for this mission. With it in place, Asher would no longer be able to use spatial magic to escape from the area.

At least, that was what they believed.

One of the men looked at Asher and spoke in a relatively calm tone.

"No hard feelings, kid, but we have to kill you. You have no way of escaping now, and you can’t use spatial magic inside this barrier. So, just give up and accept a painless death."

Asher looked at both men for a few moments.

Then, he suddenly started laughing.

At first, it was only a quiet laugh, but it quickly grew louder. Tears even began to appear at the corners of his eyes as he continued laughing at the two men standing before him.

Both men stared at him in confusion.

This wasn’t the reaction they had expected.

They had thought Asher would panic after realizing that he was trapped inside the barrier.

After a while, Asher finally stopped laughing and wiped the tears from the corners of his eyes.

He looked at the two men with an expression that seemed almost pleased.

"Me? Trapped? And you’re going to kill me?"

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"I’m actually happy that you guys made this barrier."

The two men exchanged confused glances.

They couldn’t understand what Asher meant by those words. This was completely different from how they had expected the situation to unfold.

However, before either of them could ask him what he meant, Asher raised one of his hands.

A large claw made entirely of mana began to form around it. The mana gathered rapidly, shaping itself into a massive claw that looked far more dangerous than the weapons he had used moments ago.

Asher stared at the two men as the claw continued to grow.

"It was getting too annoying to keep going easy on you guys."

As soon as he finished speaking, a thick black fog began spreading across the surface of the mana claw, covering it completely and giving it an ominous appearance.

The atmosphere inside the barrier suddenly changed.

And then Asher vanished.
